Death Reaches Level 30

How to unlock the Epic! achievement in Darksiders II - Definitive Guide

To reach level 30 you will need to play a New Game+, as there is a level cap of 22 on your first playthrough.

Once you start a new game, rush primary story quests and you should obtain it near the end of the game. I did every sidequest available (including a preorder one) and obtained it as soon as I stepped out of the portal into the third realm.

Do you get XP from killing enemies? It really doesn't seem like you do at all. I put on armour with XP bonuses and rinsed though the available levels on the crucible and was getting nowhere.

@SneakyG - You get _no_ XP from killing enemies in the crucible. You get XP from killing enemies in the open world and in dungeons. For some areas in dungeons with infispawns until some condition is met, there is an XP cap. The devs (unfortunately) limited avenues of XP gain. Rushing quests are by far the fastest way to get XP. The fact the crucible gives you no XP is quite insane, IMO

Up to level 26 and just about to enter the forge, hard to say at this point how much this is helping me, but I made a concision effort to keep an item that boosted xp for every slot during my 1st play to be used in my second one, and drop it when I found better ones, now I have an item in each slot that has 9% xp boost for each one.

I will report back once I get to 30 and let you know if this helped get there much sooner than you did.

Ok using Xp enhancing gear didn't make a blind bit of difference, I still had to get to lost light to get to lvl 30 even with doing most of the easy side quests.

about to work on this soon. Thanks @ninja and @calex for doing some hardwork for me. On the plus side it seems like there isn't any 'grinding' that needs to take place for this. Which is always good to know.

^What nonesense is this? Having to do more than half of the main quests again IS a grind. All the dungeons, puzzles and backtracking is a pain having to do again. I would have prefered going in and out of an area murdering enemies until reaching the desired level. The fact that you can not gain experience from the crucible nor arbiter's maze is gay. Did first run on apocalyptic, and enjoy it even though it took ages with all the secondary objectives.. but having to go through it again just to level up is bullshit.. and a fucking grind.

So, it's a grind no matter what; but wouldn't it make sense to haul ass through your 1st play through, so at least the secondary quests are new to you on the 2nd?

I have been using xp enhancing gear and it's been working. I have 41% total. I took them all off, checked my xp, killed an enemy, counted the xp, put gear back on and killed another of the same enemy. It definitely works. It even gives you the extra xp for missions. With how little that enemies give you it doesn't seem to help, but it is in a small way.

^ Confirmed- Experience enhancing gear does give you the correct % extra. Instead of receiving 2500 for a quest I received 3400 with my 36% EXP boost.

Also it is perfectly acceptable that you do not gain XP in the Arbiters Maze, it is to prevent people from purposely grinding XP by going through the wrong portal after each stage, technically cheating to non-TA'ers I'm afraid guys.

So correct me if I'm wrong. Make your new game + over your first play-through save or on a new game save.

At the end you'll be given the option to start a new game+, do so and it doesn't matter if you save over your old save or not, the point is you'll continue with the XP you had from your first game.

I am having an issue. I am playing through my new game + to get the final achievements. I reached level 30, completed the crucible, and defeated Wicked K but none of the achievements popped.

I have tried clearing the cache, updating the game, and beat Wicked K several times none of which resolved my problems. I also contacted THQ but have little faith in them to fix the problem given how the oldest posts on their website were 3 years old.

Has anyone encountered this issue or have any ideas on how to resolve it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Without doing hardly any side quests on my NG+ run I ended up becoming level 30 around the time I fought the third Noss on Earth. So basically you should hit 30 sometime during your stay in Lostlight.

For the record here is exactly what carries over to NG+ Money,Boatman Coins,Level/experience,all weapons and armor,All bought moves, all stats via the sticks+stones questline get carried over but as seen below the stones themselves DO NOT so be sure to use them prior to NG+,nearly all stats get erased such as total deaths and such.

More importantly what does NOT carryover is any Abilities/Gear you get throughout the game progression,EVERYTHING in quest items gets removed such as death tomb keys, stones for the sticks and stones quest, hidden gnoMAD dolls...actually everything in the quest items section of inventory gets removed except the crucible notes such as the fool ,the emporer and Strength,so be SURE to use up all your stones, keys and relics prior to making NG+.

In order to reach level 30 you will have to play on New Game+. The reason for this is that on your first playthrough, the game stops awarding experience for killing monsters at level 22. Prior to that you will no longer gain experience from any creature starting at level 20, unless they are in the Black Stone. However, you still receive full experience for any quest that you complete regardless of what level you are at the end of the game.

Depending on when you reach level 20 in the story progression, as well as how many side quests you completed prior to then, it is possible to reach level 22 before the end of your first playthrough. After that you must play on New Game+ gain any more experience. As a side note, the Crucible and Arbiter's Maze do not give any experience, so you can't go there and grind your way to max level.

The best way to hit 30 quickly and efficiently is to stack as much +Experience as possible. This modification can be found on all of the armor pieces, including the talisman, but there are no weapons with it. To check your current +Experience total go to your Inventory by pressing the button, then go to the Inventory tab (shaped like a Scythe). Once you get there press the button twice and at the bottom you will see your Experience stat. The higher that you can get that number the better.

You can collect +50% to the experience gained with things, 10% on each piece of armor and 10% on the talisman. If you come across such things, but do not fit other characteristics, do not throw them away. On New Game+ you can put on these things, set the difficulty level to easy and quickly level up.

You can't get a pass in the first playthrough because... Experience for enemies stops being given after 20, the maximum you can get to is 22.

When you reach level 22 on your first playthrough, don’t rush to immediately start a new game+, collect everything you can, complete all the tasks, because if you repeat on a new game+, everything will be canceled and you’ll have to do all the sides from scratch. But if even the experience mark after 22 two does not move from zero, then when you start a new game, you will immediately be given all the experience that you earned while the mark did not move.
