How to unlock the Pathfinder achievement in Darksiders II - Definitive Guide
I was able to first obtain this in The Cauldron.
From inside a dungeon you can view your world map and select a town to fast travel to, it saves your last waypoint in the dungeon and allows you travel back to it.
I went back to Vulgrim to sell off a bunch of the scrap loot I'd collected and came right back to my fresh waypoint.

You can't trigger it if you're in combat, if there's enemies too close or you're in a forced complete section of a dungeon. Try advancing a little and attempt when no one's around you. The game def wouldn't disallow you from fast travelling if you missed the prompt.

After you leave Tri-Stone for the very first time you will make your way north to a large, open, grassy field called Stonefathers Vale. Once you reach it you will be able to fast travel by first pressing to bring up the menu. Then navigate to the Quest tab that looks like a cross, just to the left of the question mark, by pressing or .
With the quest map open use the to navigate over Tri-Stone or any location within it, until you see the words "Fast Travel" appear at the bottom of your screen, then press . There are certain areas you can't fast travel out of, or to, so be aware of that when you want to traverse the map or backtrack.

When moving between large zones on the global map, the junctions of these zones are marked on the map with gate symbols. If you open the world map, hover over the gate symbol and click - move to this place and get the trophy.

I would like to add: To move somewhere, you must first be there at least once. So don’t be surprised why you don’t see the option to move to the place you want.
