How to unlock the Proceed on your way to Armageddon achievement in Darksiders III - Definitive Guide

"Armageddon mode" is simply the name for New Game Plus

The good news is that this NG+ can be played on any difficulty. To start, load up the file you wish to use and beat the final boss again (make sure you change the difficulty before you beat the boss as this will determine what you play NG+ on).

Now enjoy being over powered for the run. The difficulty here will be getting to level 100. While I will go into more details in its own guide, here are things to note:

-If you got the "BFA" achievement you should already be around level 60.
-You should already have saved all the humans in the previous run, giving you Riders Mercy which increases lurcher drop rate by 10%
-Make sure you complete the crucible and get the armor that increases lurcher drops by 10%
-While in NG+, enemies with red glowing eyes will now drop items used to upgrade your armor. Upgrade the armor you won from the crucible. This will net you an achievement as well.
-Make sure you have the Balanced Fortune enhancement fully upgraded and attached to your whip (or which ever weapon you use most). This gives you an additional 50% lurcher drops.
-In NG+ you will find "Wisdom shards." These boost the lurcher drop rate by another 100% for a limited time.
-Certain unique drops are now replaced by "Forsaken" Lurcher crystals. These give a large amount of lurchers.
-Save your luminous visages for some of the higher levels to reduce grinding. (You get 15 per run. Its almost recommended just to start a new run and pick these up to cut down on grinding so many levels)
-Going into NG+ 2 grants you armor that increases lurchers while shattering crystals. This can be critical to leveling up providing you save a bunch of them. Also the red eyed enemies drop greater rewards.

How can you beat the boss again if you have already beaten him on a save file?

So, I could do this on apocalyptic difficulty and get the achievement for that at the same time?

No.
"You have to play through Apocalyptic normally to get the achievement. If you beat it on NG+ only you will not get the achievement."

Walkthrough says to start the game on the hardest difficutly to save time since they stack; but since their is a NG+ achievement wouldn't it make more sense to do my first playthrough on normal then up it to APOC for NG+?
Or am I just missing something

Initially this wasnt the case, but from what I understand they patched the game which allows you to unlock the Apocalypse achievements on NG+

If I change difficulty before beating the final boss to Armageddon + Apocalypse will I get both achievements, just Armageddon, or none of them?

Armageddon isn't a difficulty its just a fancy name for New Game plus. No matter what the difficulty is, as long as you beat NG+ you will get the achievement for that run. Apocalypse (the hardest difficulty setting) must be a full playthrough and if its changed during the run, including the final boss, it will be voided. As soon as you start NG+ you can change the difficulty either before beating the final boss in the previous run or when prompted while you initiate NG+.

While I didn't have this luxury at launch, I assume the new best method is to do a 100% collection run on an easier difficulty for the first run, then do NG+ on Apocalypse difficulty while being overpowered.

I ran through NG+ Apocalypse with the Armour and the enchantment that increase your Havoc regen and duration and just creamed everything like its ridiculous how broken those two items are

It took me 4 attempts to complete the final boss because the game would hard crash during the loading screen to it. After it finally managed to load, I thought I had soft locked it too once I got into the Council arena because the boss failed to spawn at all. It took me jump off the platform to respawn myself that the intro cutscene played and I could get the show on the road. What a messy game. Hopefully there won't be any more content added. I need to make room for other things.

I to me as well! I upped the difficulty to APOC before jumping into the boss portal and it froze at the load screen, maybe that screwed something up. So I spent the next hour trying to un-fuck the situation and I think what ultimately got me through was unequipping my fire armor and all weapon attachments. However, that was after re-installing the game and recovering my cloud save.

Also, I can confirm this:

To start Armageddon mode, you'll have to continue from your previous save and defeat the last boss. Once the credits finish, a prompt will appear: "Armageddon 1 - Continue to Armageddon 1? This will overwrite the current save." You can choose from STORY, BALANCED, CHALLENGING, APOCALYPTIC, or RECKONING.

Feel free to play on STORY as any difficulty will net you around the same souls depending on which enhancements you're using. All of your items, upgrades, enhancements and current level will be available from the start, but not your Hollow weapons, as you'll receive those during regular story play. Now just beat the game again and the achievement will unlock after defeating the last boss.

This achievement is obtained after completing it on any difficulty, just kill the final boss and you will be prompted to start the game on Apocalypse 1 difficulty, after which the save will look like this

so it’s not necessary to complete it at maximum, just replay the game on NG+ and the trophy is yours

Let me clarify that to get the trophy you must complete the new game plus mode on ANY difficulty level. It also doesn’t matter at what difficulty the game was completed in normal mode.

Translation error, after the first passage you will be given Apocalypse 1, this is Armageddon mode, this is what you need for the trophy.

And so, as always, the localizers translated crookedly
No need to play on maximum difficulty. Just when you finish the game and you are offered to go to ng+, you can choose any difficulty, even the lowest. The trophy will drop

To get the trophy you just need to beat NG+ on any difficulty. I passed on easy, the trophy fell out.
