How to unlock the Battle Hardened achievement in Darksiders Warmastered Edition - Definitive Guide

morph Xlive solution works but I did my achievement in a different way to his solution which in my opinion, instead of doing the same route over and over again I have found a way to do this achievement easier by constantly spawning the spiders in the first room on the video shown in the first solution when you have killed all the spiders in that room instead of opening the webbed door turn back around and climb back up the wall you started at and run or dash to the part where you go back outside the building and turn back around and go back to the first room the spiders should respawn in exactly where they where, hopefully this tip has helped you and saved you some time

For this achievement you have to level up every weapon:
-Chaoseater
-Tremor Gauntlet
-Scythe (there is two of them), check NOTE 1 below
and buy every weapon moves then upgrade them to lvl 3
-reforge Armageddon Blade durning story

NOTE 1: People are reporting that they needed to level up both Scythes but i havent use even a single time regular Scythe because I took Harvester first. Even so this achievement poped right after reforging Armageddon Blade

The best place to do it is Iron Conopy, just kill all groups of small spiders in every room.
Achievement should pop when you forge Armageddon Blade, or buy last upgrade from Vulgrim with the Armageddon alrdy in your inventory.

some tips:
-use War's Glory on the weapon you want to level up
-use Death's Blessing on the other one
-use Combat Lore on third
-don't use combo moves for Scythe, its more time consuming just 2-hit and small break
-for Tremor Gauntlet use combo Hold RB+Y

The route is very simple. Kill every spider in every room on the route. You need to run from point A to B, then from B to A.
A is the corridor which leads to Iron Conopy Boss
B is some knd of elevator shaft with few ledges (around 3:00)
These are your mob respawn points, in A you need to enter this corridor, let the door close, then you can go back, in B first you are going up then use some ledges to go back (mobs will respawn in the alley). Just check the video and you will know what i mean.

I had the same, switched back to regular scythe and it was lvl 3 99%. Maybe if you get the Chaoseater Sword lvl 4 before obtaining the Armageddon Blade you can get the achievement.

I emailed Kaiko about this, and got this response:

Hi James,

we can confirm the achievement is glitched. It unfortunately got glitched when we added the Harvester as a permanent item to Warmastered Edition, it also is glitched on all platforms currently released.

We are working on a proper solution, I can not give an ETA for a patch as this is something the publisher will have to decide.

As far as I understand the bug correctly, getting the achievement unlocked will require players to simply enter and leave the Vulgrim store if you have already fullfilled all prerequisites.

Kindest regards,

--
Peter Thierolf

So fingers crossed for a patch sooner rather than later!

@ Fluffytoast thank you for sharing, unfortunately "he does not understand". If only the solution would be so simple...

EDIT: about patch, for Deathinitive edition and a game breaking bug it took 10 days ;/ making it-> xbox certification -> download

As you can see there is an upcoming patch for the ps4 version of the game which will fix the Battle Hardened achievement. It will do it retroactively too so you should get it just by loading up your game. Even though this is listed for ps4 in the notes it is described as a fix for the Battle Hardened achievement, and after some questioning someone from THQNordic did confirm this will be coming to Xbox One as well.

Just to stupid, I tried to visit Vulgrim to see if it would in fact pop for us, but nothing as of yet. Yes I know we have to go through the whole 10 day process bullshit, but it was worth a shot. Hopefully soon we will have it fixed.

PS4 version is fixed by now, today I maxed my last weapon, the Gauntlets, forged the blade and when I swapped the Scythe back it was back to level 0. However it still wouldn't pop after maxing it again. Nordic should learn to reply at least a bit to the comments they get on their posts/pages..

Just wanna confirm I gotten the cheevo WITHOUT even buying the Harvester at all, only maxed out the regular Scythe even with the EXP item bonuses in effect.

Guess as long as you don't swap the regular Scythe with the Harvester even once you can get the cheevo with only the former.

Yeah Darksiders II has unobtainable achievements on both the Xbox 360 and Xbox One as of this writing. The new company that is responsible for them (THQ Nordic) is apparently the shittiest organization ever founded.

Anyway, I wanted to post my experience with this achievement.

1.) I purchased the Harvester as soon as I was able.

2.) The cost of the regular scythe went down to zero as a result. I bought/equipped it once, and immediately went back to the harvester.

3.) I spent the game leveling up the Harvester.

4.) Received the Armageddon Blade which maxed out my sword.

5.) Boosted out the Tremor Gauntlet.

6.) Purchased all combat upgrades for each and my achievement unlocked no problem.

I can see other people reporting the same thing. I had both scythes, but only had to level up the Harvester. I read this before finishing up, and about crapped myself when I saw that I might have to level up the regular scythe as well.

By the way, if you want to complain about Darksiders II being glitched out then you can try going to THQ Nordic's Better Business Bureau page, and filing a complaint. They seem to respond to complaints made there, but neglect everywhere else pretty well. That link can be found here:

I only maxed the normal Scythe and Gauntlet, and forged the Armageddon Blade without maxing Chaoseater just like on 360 and got the achievement.

You have to get the upgrades for Mercy and the crossblade, they were my last two, you DO NOT need the wrath powers leveled up.

Your solution is incomplete. You did not talk about the 2nd requirement of unlocking all the moves. And like Wookiee mentioned, the upgrades for the crossblade and mercy.

Still glitched in 2022. Having fully levels up The Harvester and the Tremor Gauntlets and buying all moves etc, when I got the Armageddon Blade, still didn't unlock

A Spanish individual asked Reinhard Pollice (‎the Business & Product Development Director/Executive Producer at THQ Nordic) aka @ElMegalomator
on twitter when the Xbox Patch will be released...

his reply was...

using google translate...
"Oh pardon, the xbox one version patch will arrive next week".

He also made a few comments about still working on Darksiders II DE in a Dec 5th reply.

To those confused about leveling the Scythe, this is important information.

1. You have to level the normal Sycthe to max in order for your Harvester to stay maxed when you switch between them. If you max the Harvester first, it will return to Level 0 if you switch to the Scythe.

2. As you level up the Sycthe, the Harvester also levels up. Let's say you get the Sycthe to Level 2, then switch to the Harvester - the Harvester will also be Level 2. But this only works one way, so if you got the Harvester to Level 2, then switched to the Scythe - the Scythe would be Level 0 and your Harvester will revert to Level 0 when you switch back to it.

3. You have to level up the Scythe without using the items that increase your weapon's EXP gains. If you max out the Scythe with an EXP item equipped, then switch to the Harvester - you'll notice that the Harvester isn't maxed as it's only been getting the normal amount of EXP. When you switch back to the Scythe, it's level will have lowered to match the Harvester - as their Weapon Levels must remain equal. If you max the Scythe without an EXP item equipped, you'll be able to switch between both weapons and have them both remain max level.

Hello guys, I was a bit unsatisfied with the posted guides on this achievement, because it still took way too long to level the weapons up, so I dug a bit deeper and found a better method. I made a video tutorial based on a guide that I found on the steam forums ( https://steamcommunity.com/app/462780/discussions/0/12918165... ). The text guide by crimsonrider is already pretty good, but it lacked some explanation where to go and what to do, so I made this video:

It shows EXACTLY what to do and please don't be afraid of the running time. I show two complete cycles of the method. One with commentary and the following without.

Also, for the achievement you basically should use the Scythe/Harvester and Tremor Gauntlets as often as possible after obtaining them in normal play. You will get the Chaoseater through a story event automatically to level 4. There is no need to grind it out, so use your alternative weapons as much as possible to save time.

With this method, it took me ~30 minutes to max both weapons out.

And yes, please excuse my bad English in the video. It isn’t my native language and I tried explaining while playing, which isn’t exactly easy. Especially during a terrible heat wave. :D

Works great, thanks for the guide. Just don’t do more then 14 or the game will crash! Btw you speak English better then most English people so no need to apologise for your accent, that’s a huge accomplishment to learn another language fluently!

It's definitely striked based for all of them, therefore this method is still fastest.

By Moldy Tacos5000 on 19 Dec 2022 17:49
I dont think this method is any faster than the top method. If you use the top method you are killing approx 21 spiders and exit the area in about 43 seconds thats 210+ kills in less than 10 mins and there is no setup needed. From what I understand the weapon experience is strictly kill based for the Scythe and Gauntlet. For the Chaoseater it is strike based.

Hello, everyone. Here are the best solutions that combine the other options
First, on the question of two sickles, I think you have to choose one of the two sickles, and once you choose one, don't touch the other
Second, for a quick way to get upgrades, I recommend you do it in Iron Conopy(spider nest)
Third, do not fear death, death will not cause you EXP loss
The detailed steps:
1,Please come to the gate leading to the boss (whether you unlock/kill/fail to kill the boss)
2,Equip your most needed weapon with War's Glory,Other weapons fitted with Death's Blessing and Combat Lore are shown below
External image

3,When facing the gate, jump into the hole on the right,And kill all enemies below
4,Return the same way, and when you step in the shadow under the gate, jump into the hole again and repeat the previous step
5,Repeat until your weapons are fully upgraded

Thanks to "Dark Devil Wolf" who suggested a simplified version of the guide by "morph Xlive", from TrueAchievements.

For this achievement, there are two parts: max out your weapons and purchase all of their moves.

The first is the worst.
1) While you should put any weapon XP into either the Scythe or the Gauntlets as early as possible (I highly recommend having the Scythe be the first thing you buy), there is no point in focusing on training the Sword as you will get an end-game item that maximizes it automatically.
2) Wait to do focused weapon XP farming until after you reach the Iron Canopy.
3) Once you reach the Iron Canopy, get "War's Glory" (In a chest near the northwest of the map; available after you gain access to the path leading to the boss fight against Silitha) and equip it to the weapon you want to focus on.
4) Go to the entrance of the path to Silitha's lair (the spot that had a magic barrier showing five spider symbols blocking the path); from there head South and jump down the ledge with demonic growth and enter the room there.
5) Lure the spiders there (in you preferred way, whether running through or just shooting once at a couple), exterminate them all.
6) Follow the path backwards, up the demonic growth towards Silitha's Lair path. Take one step past the light grey flooring and walls, then turn around and return to the room with the bunch of spiders. They will have respawned for you to wipe out again! (If they don't, you needed to walk just a tiny bit further).
7) Repeat until your weapon is maxxed out, then switch to the other one!

For the Sword, it will get instantly maxed out when you complete the Armageddon Blade, so don't waste time trying to level it up faster.

Fortunately, by the time you finish this you should have TONS of souls to give to Vulgrim in exchange for all of the weapon moves, so that part is super easy!

Note: If you are able to get your hands on the Harvester (which looks different and gives +10% Souls... but is not available via proper gameplay on PC versions), note that while it does take the place of the Scythe it is treated as the same weapon as far as this achievement is concerned.
