Who's Counting?

Who's Counting?

Defeat more angels than Ulthane

How to unlock the Who's Counting? achievement in Darksiders - Definitive Guide

Make sure you have saved data as you enter Anvil's Ford area, that way if you don't get this achievement you can reload and attempt again.

This fighting happened directly after you receive the One Tough Cookie achievement
There will be a counter upper middle right to tell you who is winning
War on left, Ulthane on right.
Try to finish them off with the B, otherwise Ulthane likes to pick them up and finish them off, thus stealing your kills.
Proceed through until you get to the single Angel carrying the huge blaster, once he is dead, walk over to the blaster and B(action) it.
First take out any Angels that are close, then pick off all the Angels fighting Ulthane, this will help you keep your score up ahead of his.
Continue proceeding through with this weapon (LT, powered up explosion, RT laser shots)

The blaster(i believe it was called redemption) is your best friend up until you have to jump across and meet up with Ulthane(remember before you jump across, use the growth x2 for soul chest and wrath stone chest)

Once you get to the next door that Ulthane should hold open, you will get this achievement.

Note:
Ancient Tides has said that if you tie at 40-40 you can still pop the achievement.

I just did this on hard and was about to come write this guide, bravo, great job covering the blaster as an option; if playing on hard it is the only way I've found to survive, much less beat Ulthane. Cheers!

Great guide - pretty simple with the blaster. I beat Ulthane by like 20 kills this way.

works perfectly, just sit back a bit so you don't die and LT away with the blaster

Nevermind. I luckily got it :). It took a little luck and lots of LT-ing and not RT-ing. I actually just beat the Griever as well :)

Just to point out, if you draw with him by the end, you'll still get it. I finished on something like 40-40 and he said that I'd beaten him and the achievement popped..

Great solution, nice tips on the chests at the end before jumping over too!

81 total angels in my run, which means 41+ nets you the achievement.

I tried it once just with the sword and got absolutely decimated because the blaster apparently fell off the map or something. It's not even possible to survive the second half of the angel killing contest without that blaster, much less beat Ulthane.

I can get like 10 ahead of Ulthane easily before I die... The only thing is that I DIE very easily. I have it set on Apocolyptic on my first playthrough. I also didn't buy any any health before & it won't let me go back to get health & my last save file was like 5 hours before this one so I'm in a hard time this time & I'm pretty sick of trying. I've probably done this like 25 times (literally) & I keep dying right around the time you meet up with Ulthane (right after getting the wrath shard), which is close to the end, but I still die there EVERY TIME & a video guide would be much appreciated :)

MISSABLE

You will meet and battle Ulthane. Shortly after, some angels will arrive prompting both Ulthane and yourself to do battle with them. When this happens a counter will appear at the top of the screen with both of your faces. This keeps track of how many angels each of you have killed, and will stay there while you run through a gauntlet of angels with him.

The easiest way to get this trophy is to kill any angel very close to you first, as quickly as possible, then kill the ones Ulthane is fighting. The angels on Ulthane will be weakened, so it will be easier to steal the kills. This is especially true later on in the encounter when you pick up a huge cannon.

The achievement can be missed.
As soon as you start kneading enemies together with Ultain, a count of his and your kills will appear in the corner of the screen. So, don’t worry right away, wait until you pick up a machine gun and easily get around it. I also advise you to make a backup save so as not to miss the achievement.
