How to unlock the Civilian's Hero achievement in Dead Age - Definitive Guide

In order to get this achievement you'll need to rescue 10 civilians in one playthrough, as progress doesn't seem to carry over. This event happens randomly while you're out and about scavenging. You'll have a notification pop up that says wave 1/2 and you'll have a 4th person in the fight, who is the civilian. Simply finish both waves without them dying to save them. Do this 10 times. This event appears randomly, which means you may not have 10 by the time you finish the game. I'm on my second playthrough now and this seems likely to be another failure for this achievement. If you get all the romance and ending achievements and still don't have this I would suggest a playthrough on casual difficulty where you go out and scavenge every single day so you have plenty of chances to get this.

I also recommend casual. I also recommend taking Jen out and doing Highway Day as two people.
There are rare instances where you can get two civilians in one event if the slots are open. I got them when I was going solo, I assume the same can happen with 2 characters and two slots open as well.

Two quick notes: Keep in mind these encounters do not show up in the Desert areas, only on the Highway, in the Woods, and in the City (but since you spend the majority of your expedition time in these areas, this shouldn't be a problem).
As well, if you feel you're behind pace on rescuing civilians compared to where you are in game (the game ends on Day 42), feel free to use the First Aid skill (the three points Medic skill I recommend every combat character have) to heal these random survivors during combat to ensure they survive the wave encounters. You should get this achievement naturally even if you don't do this, but it doesn't hurt to speed up the process.
