How to unlock the Resilient achievement in Dead Age - Definitive Guide
Most achievements in Dead Age will unlock through natural gameplay (except perhaps the German Shepherd and Soldier kill achievements, but there is an easy way to farm them. See the Enemy Types and Locations page for details). One achievement that may not unlock in the natural course of gameplay however is the Hungry Family sets of achievements.
In order to get the Hungry Family sets of achievements you have to trade (or refuse to trade) rations to the hungry family when they appear on three/four separate occasions. This event occurs near the beginning of the Day right after you receive the notice of supplies found/used. Because this event window is random, some games you'll get the three/four visits you need from the Hungry Family, and some games you won't.
The good news is, with some patience and save scumming, you can "force" a visit from the Hungry Family:
Find a good day in game where your main character can do camp jobs without failing any missions (for me, I did this on Day 37). First off, completely close the game to make a save point on the Xbox cloud. Restarting the game, you should be on the morning of your most recent day. Now, simply have your main character do a camp job that day to speed to the next day (you may also want to have a few camp followers on Guard duty so no one dies overnight). On the morning of the next day, if the Hungry Family visits, great! One more tic towards the Hungry Family achievements. If not, MAKE SURE NOT TO QUIT THE GAME, but go into the Xbox menus and delete the local save file. If you're not sure how to do this, here's a quick primer:
To revert to a saved game from the cloud, while still in game, open the Xbox guide (via ), highlight Dead Age, then click start () and pick "Manage game and add-ons." Now go down to the bottom of the options list and click on the Save Data box. From here, the safest way to delete your local save is to click the "Delete All" button at the top of the list. Now restart Dead Age, and your Xbox should restore your save from the cloud, reverting you back to the point you initially made the cloud save.
Upon reloading Dead Age, you should be back at the point you made the "save". Now do the same camp job set up as before, and head into the next day. Rinse and repeat until the Hungry Family shows up.
I personally tested this method and it took 20 attempts or so to get the Hungry Family to show up but it does eventually work, so don't get discouraged if you're not having immediate success. Repeat this method until you unlock this achievement.
Keep in mind you have to do, at minimum, four playthroughs of the main game (one for each romance), so if you're excessively short on Hungry Family visits by Day 37 or so, you have the option to try again on another playthrough rather than try to save scum for visits. You'll most likely unlock all of these achievements naturally if playing through the game four times, so feel free to consider this method an option of last resort.
