How to unlock the Cruelty Loves Company achievement in Dead by Daylight - Definitive Guide
Not the hardest unique Killer achievement by far. Depending on the Survivors that I got paired up with, I was averaging about 15 - 20% per game. The trick to this achievement is to damage a survivor while any of your three Guard summons are actively chasing them. You can tell if a Survivor is being chased by a teal circle that appears around their portrait that'll slowly tick down depending on which Guard is chasing them (similar to the Stalk debuff from Ghost Face if they get fully stalked - they aren't exposed though, just using Ghost Face as an UI example). If you did it right, you should get a bloodpoint prompt labeled "Flushed Out". If your Guard does the damage, that will not count towards the achievement from what I could tell with my testing/tracking.
To explain how the Guard ability works a bit more, pretty much you will cycle through three different types of Guards. Each one has different traits and you can tell which one you can summon next by the ability icon:
Now let's talk perks. Realistically any build can work for this, but my go to strategy was to fully load up on aura revealing Perks, so I can get into as many chases and send my Guards after the Survivors as much as possible. While there are a lot of perks that can do this, I used:
I believe that covers the gist of how to get this achievement, but if there are any questions or information lacking, please let me know.
To explain how the Guard ability works a bit more, pretty much you will cycle through three different types of Guards. Each one has different traits and you can tell which one you can summon next by the ability icon:
- The Carnifex (Skull icon) breaks or damages objects faster and has a longer Hunt phase.
- The Assassin (Dagger icon) moves faster during a Hunt and causes Deep Wound when attacking.
- The Jailer (Two keys crossed over each other icon) moves faster during a Patrol, has a larger Detection range, and has a longer Patrol phase.
- Tattered Tabard (common) - Increases the Patrol duration of Guards by +6 seconds.
- Map of the Realm (common) - Increases the Vision range of Guards on Patrol by +4 meters.
- Gritty Lamp (common) - Increases the Movement speed of Guards on Patrol by +9 %.
- Dried Horsemeat (uncommon) - Increases the Hunt duration of Guards by +4 seconds.
- Call To Arms (uncommon) - Increases the maximum Patrol Path length by +10 meters. Increases the Movement speed of The Knight while drawing the Patrol Path by +25 %.
- Lightweight Greaves (very rare) - After summoning The Jailer, Lightweight Greaves increases the Movement speed of The Knight by +10 % for the next 6 seconds.
- Flint and Steel (very rare) - After summoning The Carnifex, the aura's of all Survivors within 24 meters of any unbroken dropped pallets are revealed to The Knight for 5 seconds.
- Iridescent Company Banner (Iridescent) - Drawing a Patrol Path through windows blocks them for all Survivors for 15 seconds after summoning a Guard. The Exit Gates are blocked by Entity Spikes for the Hunted Survivor. All windows vaulted by the Hunted Survivor are blocked for all Survivors for the remainder of the Hunt.
Now let's talk perks. Realistically any build can work for this, but my go to strategy was to fully load up on aura revealing Perks, so I can get into as many chases and send my Guards after the Survivors as much as possible. While there are a lot of perks that can do this, I used:
- Lethal Pursuer (Nemesis) - Reveals all Survivors auras for X seconds at the start of the match. Extends all aura revealing effects by two additional seconds.
- Nowhere to Hide (Knight): After kicking a generator, all Survivors within 24 meters of you have their auras's revealed. This perk follows you, meaning as you're moving away from the generator, you could find a Survivor, so don't stand still!
- Scourge Hook: Floods of Rage (Onryo) - Four hooks outlined in white will be around the map. Anytime a Survivor is unhooked from these hooks, all survivors will have their auras revealed for seven seconds.
- Barbeque and Chilli (Leather Face) - Reveals Survivors aura if they are a X amount away from a Survivor you just hooked.
I believe that covers the gist of how to get this achievement, but if there are any questions or information lacking, please let me know.

The peculiarity of summoning the Guardian is that after you activate it, the field of detection of survivors (the green ring around the Guardian) will gradually expand and in the first moments will completely ignore the survivors inside it. In order for the Guardian to notice the survivor, the place where you activate it must be several meters further in the direction the survivor is running. In simple words, first fly a little forward from the place where you hear the survivor, and then press the Guardian activation button. It can also help to use a Guardian on fallen pallets, around which the survivor you need will run. This trick will not work against skilled survivors, because they will immediately leave this pallet. Both hits to healthy and wounded survivors, as well as hits to the “resilience” status, count towards the trophy. It is worth noting that if a survivor is already in an active chase with a Guardian, unhooking another survivor will immediately cancel the chase, if you see a survivor near his ally on the hook, I advise you to activate the Guardian immediately after the survivor unhooks another, in which case it has begun The survivors will no longer be able to cancel the chase. Of the addons, I advise you to choose those that increase the duration of the Guardian’s pursuit (they will give you more time to catch up with the survivor yourself) and those that increase the radius of detection of survivors by the Guardian (the radius and speed of spread of the green ring will increase, which will increase the chances of starting a chase). If the Guardian himself hits a survivor, this hit will not count towards the trophy. You can understand that it was the Guardian who hit the survivor by the killer instinct (heartbeat and red mark) that appears on the survivor after the blow.
