How to unlock the Shine On achievement in Dead by Daylight - Definitive Guide

Blinding the killer is done by aiming the flashlight at the Killers head, usually slightly below, as that is where the camera is located for the Killer player. The level of flashlight and add-on's will determine how long it takes to blind the killer and the length of the blind. You know you have done it correctly when the "Killer Blind" score event triggers.

To ensure the killer can not look away from the blind attempt, it is best to attempt the blind during the pallet breaking animation. It gives you a few seconds to line it up correctly. I found the best map for this is "the Game". It feels like it has the most pallets and safe pallets (meaning the killer needs to break the pallet to catch you).

I would bring a purple flashlight, which starts with 12 seconds of use, and any of the battery add-ons which give additional use. Using the strategy of burning a "the Game" map offering and running pallet to pallet, I was able to consistently get 5 to 7 blinds a game.

If you do not have a flashlight or want to guarantee the opportunity for a second, the Haddie teachable, "Residual Manifest", grants the ability to rummage through an open chest once per trial and guarantees a basic flashlight.

After doing some testing, I can confirm that unfortunately flashlight saves don’t count for this, presumably because you don’t get the “killer blind” score event, but rather the “killer grasp rescue” score event. However, after a flashlight save, the killer is locked into a stun animation, during which you can chain blind them for progress towards this achievement.

Another few easy ways to farm blinds: while they’re stuck in the hooking animation, during the window vault animation if you catch them vaulting early enough, and standing on the opposite side of a breakable wall, and beginning the blind as they break it.

I would also like to note that staying near a down survivor and running background player also helps, easy to get blinds in sometimes as the killer is picking someone up

Pretty sure it counted for me most of my flashlight blinds were through saving people, I did have to restart my game for the tracker to go up though

In addition to the top guide, I wanted to offer my build that's been helping me get the most out of my flashlight within a single trial:

Sport Flashlight (Green Rarity), Addons: Low Amp Filament and Long Life Battery.
35% less battery consumption + 14 seconds of flashlight life.

Champion of Light (Alan Wake perk, you move 50% faster when shining a flashlight and blinding the killer inflicts 20% Hindered (they move slower) for 6 seconds, 60 seconds cooldown between blinds).

Residual Manifest (Blinding the killer inflicts Blindness (they can't see auras) for 30 seconds and you're guaranteed a yellow Flashlight when rummaging through an already searched chest.

Built to Last (Once you deplete an items charges, enter and stay in a locker for 12 seconds to recharge the items charges. First 99% of the charges, then 66% and then 33%.)

Streetwise (Items use 25% less of their charges).

Like the above guide noted, pallet stun and pallet break animations are the best opportunities. You can also try going for flashlight saves too.
