How to unlock the Flawless victory. achievement in Dead Cells - Definitive Guide

Conjunctivius is found by traveling through the prison -> Toxic Sewers -> Ancient Sewers - Insufferable Crypt. You will need the Ram and Vine rune to access.

The above solutions are great, but I found an easy strategy was to use the heavy crossbow, wolf traps, and double cross-bo-matic. If you place the traps on the first platform, you can bait him into getting stuck in the wolf traps. Assuming you have collected enough points in tactics and have decent level gear, you can kill him without him performing any attacks. This one really isnt too bad - ratio is really deceiving.

Short 30 second clip below demonstrating.

How do you have 14 tactics by the time you get to him?

I increased my tactics almost exclusively, killed basically all the enemies before getting here. Plus, got a little lucky with my items which had 3 tactics total boost on them.

Unfortunately after the newest Queen DLC these “no-hit boss achievements” for the original bosses seem to be unobtainable unless the devs make a patch.

Report it it them on Twitter or the forums here. They seem to break achievements a lot but they also always fix them.

I did message the devs on Twitter. Me and this other guy were doing some tests and it turns out that picking an Aspect at the beginning of a run WILL negate getting the “no-hit” achievements, even though it doesn’t say that.

Oh, that's not a bug that's how aspects work. They negate getting new boss stem cells and flawless achievements because they make the game easier.

Seems like this doesn't work anymore. I barely get any damage in, then the platform dumps my traps, leaving me fighting tentacles.

Conjunctivius is the eye-monster in the Insufferable Crypt, found by using the Ram Rune to take the lower path in the Toxic Sewers, through the Ancient Sewers.

There are two main components to the fight, which you'll want to practice several times before trying for a perfect run. Conjunctivius largely floats around the chamber attacking you, but at approximately 90% health, 70% health, and 40% health he will retreat behind a shield and summon tentacles to attack you from under the ground.

Floating phases: It will move around the chamber, periodically making these attacks.
* A ramming attack telegraphed with a ghostly red chain.
* Shooting equally-spaced green spit projectiles (more bursts at lower health).
* A close-range area-of-effect burst, telegraphed by a red circle.
* At half health or less, a long barrage of chaotic green spit projectiles reminiscent of a bullet hell. You should be doing enough damage that Conjunctivius doesn't get a chance to do this.

Tentacle phases: These phases, especially the third one, are the hard part of unlocking Flawless victory. I'll describe the tentacle behavior here.
* There are three tentacles in the first tentacle phase, four in the second, and five in the third.
* Each time you kill a tentacle, lightning flashes onto the other tentacles. The lightning doesn't hurt you; this is a brief respite.
* In general, tentacles will be submerged in the ground and follow your movement. It's unclear, but I do not think they can take damage over time while they are submerged.
* Tentacles will burst out to attack when you or a turret is over them. This is fairly easy to dodge if you keep moving.
* In the second and third phases, after the tentacles appear and after a tentacle is killed, one tentacle will make a sweeping attack that is the trickiest part of the fight. It will move, submerged, all the way to one side of the room, and then emerge and sweep across the room before submerging again and moving to your location. This attack is also easy to dodge in isolation, but in combination with avoiding the other submerged tentacles it will trip you up.

Strategy
If you're aiming specifically for this achievement, focus entirely on one stat to maximize your DPS. On my successful attempt, I went all-in on Tactics, using a Wolf Pack trap to get Conjunctivius trapped on the lower platform so I could unload a few Heavy Crossbow blasts into it at a time. The Wolf Pack also traps the moving tentacles, making that phase much easier. Of course, any ice attack is very useful for that too. I would not recommend relying on turrets or DoT effects because they can obscure the ground and you need to see where the tentacles are moving around under there.

Recommended gear (I'll add recommendations from the comments as well):
Skill: Wolf Trap
Weapon: Ice Bow
Weapon: Heavy Crossbow
Grenade: Ice Grenade
Mutation: Efficiency / Fireworks Technician
Mutation: Support

Yeah, I never got comfortable with parrying. Use whatever equipment you are best with!

On a related note, I haven't played the game since August so balance changes may affect my equipment recommendations.

Just want to add if you're comfortable with shields and parrying, parrying the sweeping tentacles is a consistent way of dealing with them opposed to trying roll through them and rely on iframes. You can Parry them before they pop out of the ground as well though the timing can be a bit tricky. Also you can Parry the charge/red chain attack and can also Parry the projectiles. I realize not everyone is necessarily a fan of shields but I hope it helps someone

----------NOTE:-----------
Be aware this guide was written before a patch was done that changed the game's behaviors. I do not know the full extent of the changes, so I have not updated the guide outside of this note.

changes I do know have happened:

- assist mode no longer disables achievements. this should make getting this and any other no hit achievements much, much easier.

- supposedly the 'save state' system outlined in this guide has changed. I'm not 100% on the changes, but from what I'm told it still sort of works but you can no longer save scum your way to a no-hit victory.
---------------------------------

There's a trick to getting this and any other no-hit boss kill achievement.

Dead Cells has a sort of quick save/save state system. This is at any time you press cn_guide, the game will save at exactly that point wherever you are. The moment you die (as in, hit 0 HP and do the death animation), this save feature is disabled so if you press cn_guide, dashboard, and quit the game you will continue off the last time you pressed cn_guide while alive. If you never did, you will restart at the very start of whatever level you made it to. This trick will allow you to retry for the no-hit achievement without having to restart from the beginning of the game.

note: if you get hit, you want to be completely DEAD (as in zero hit points) before pressing cn_guide, or else you will create a save and void the achievement for that run.

Conjunctivitis is kind of easy as long as you haven't gone crazy unlocking weapons.

basically beat the boss down until there's that brief resting phase and he summons his tentacles. This is a great place to save.

obviously it helps tremendously if you have the +, ++, and S blacksmith upgrade chances as high as you get them.

my suggestion:

every upgrade scroll you find should be spent on TACTICS (purple lightning bolt)

Weapons:
x2 throwing knives (in general 2 throwing knives makes the whole game easier) - these are EXTREMELY GOOD against conjunctivitis since you will auto-aim your throws close to 180 degrees, so you can hit him as he moves around. update: the ability to x2 the same weapon has been removed. I have not played since this change, but:
throwing knife - this is a great weapon for conjunctivitis for the simple fact throwing knife will target enemies close to 180 degrees from your position. highly useful characteristic given this boss moves all over the place

Traps:
wolf trap
double crossbow-o-matic
(both of these are handy for the tentacles)

Mutations:
ammunition
support

I was struggling with this one for a while today until I found a way to get through the tentacles consistently.

I had a buzz saw trap, which I would plant far right of the map so I could see the ground.

Getting through the first phase is easy enough. It’s that damn sweeping tentacle that caught me every time.

Immediately starting the second phase I would dodge and attack the first tentacle since it still moved slow. After killing it I moved immediately to the right trap and climbed the wall.

Once the tentacle swept to me (and there’s usually one waiting right below you, so if you straight drop you will take a hit). I found that if I jumped to the middle of the map, followed by rolling right as I was about to hit the ground I had enough time to land 2-3 attacks then head back to my trap and up the wall.

By the time you get back the tentacle is sweeping again.

This pretty much eliminated the randomness of that tentacle that caused much pain.

After I figured this out I got the flawless my second try with this stat. I’d imagine you could take any load out with you.

The secret boss is also the most problematic for this trophy, because the battle is very long and intense. You can go to it when you get runes to create a path up from the slurry and break blocks on the floor. After the ancient canals, a boss awaits you. Without a trick with saves, killing him without damage is on the verge of impossible because there is a very long battle, a lot of phases, a lot of elements of randomness and it is almost impossible to dodge his shelling with slurry because he launches them in a fan a bunch of times, and then begins to constantly move when shooting, which is why they fly just wildly chaotically, sometimes with virtually no gaps. This is the hardest boss to kill without taking damage. And even the trick with saves on it only partially helps. The problem is that in the last 2 phases, if you save, he is guaranteed to immediately start shooting at the slurry, which you can dodge 1 time out of 20, especially in the last phase. If you save after every hit, you can get stuck on the boss for half a day. It took me more than 2 hours. Don't even try to do it without saving. And in the last phase, it is better to minimize these saves, only if they did not take away at least a third of his remaining HP.

The mileage bug works, but the trophy will not drop. version 1.7 patch 1.14. The run only works on this boss, it doesn’t work on others

The easiest of all bosses for this trophy. You don't need to do anything AT ALL.
The whole tactic is to take the green leveling branch and take the ice shield.
That's it - we stand in the very left corner, turn to the right and continuously spam the shield throughout the entire battle, when the boss flies towards you - it freezes him and we do a couple of hits. Tentacles are reflected without damage, like green blobs. This is a 100% impenetrable story, the main thing is not to let the tentacles be born to your left. We stand and endlessly spam the shield.

There is an easier way, gentlemen.
Just use the analogue LOWER THE CAMERA DOWN THE ARENA (before entering the arena) and stupidly run through the level, the encounter will not start and the boss will stupidly not come out to fight! And behind the wall they will give you an achievement, Attention, this is a BUG , but the worker is on version 1.7, I don’t know whether they will fix it or not.

In simple words, in this way your attempts will result in rare damage from the rushing tentacles than from the boss himself)

I don’t understand how people do safe/load on bosses, I always had the boss’s HP fully restored after loading. You can pass with a multi-shot crossbow and traps and a live grenade. The crossbow always crits when the target is dazed. The main thing is to catch him in a trap when he quickly moves towards you. You will see a maximum of one phase with tentacles; in the second you will immediately kill, leveling up in tactics.

If you have a spider rune, and you probably have one, then everything is as simple as possible:

We will need a double crossbow. As soon as the tentacle phase begins, cling to the wall and wait for the crossbow to do everything for you. Throw more if necessary. As soon as the shield fell off the boss, we hit the wall again, remembering to set a trap. Easy

On the current version 1.8, mileage no longer works.

There are 2 options for killing without damage lightly

Option 1: fast bow (enemy poisoner + 100% damage from poison or better options 100% to damage and 100% received, ideally role in front of the boss at the forge 300%), an ice bow or crossbow is also desirable, eagle owl (if you have x2 that’s great) and an auto-turret (we always throw it closer to the left door), also a must-have is an amulet for an additional jump, preferably two to spam the wall.

The tactics are as follows: in 10-15 seconds we demolish about 35% of the HP, staying away from the boss (preferably the center or top of the platform), there will be no phase with poisonous spitting. As soon as the boss starts screaming under the dome, we exit to the menu, thereby saving, no further forget about the turret (it will hit the tentacles), all you have to do is spam jumps on the left wall next to the turret and sometimes go down so that the tentacles come out and back onto the wall), as soon as one tentacle remains, go back to the menu. Repeat 2 times. Attempts from 7 -10 should work out (takes about 10 minutes) and was done on the 4th boss cell.

Option 2: a cursed sword, a turret and something to freeze. Ideally, you need a sword with 100% damage, or better yet 300, then in 1-2 attempts you’ll pass and not notice. We do the same thing as in the first option, only we run already behind the boss, trying not to get caught by his sudden movements and especially the red dome.

Killed the boss without losing HP from the first meeting (without the spider rune). The boss is quite easy compared to the last boss.
I advise you to equip 2 turrets (preferably with the formation of a poisonous cloud, napalm spill, poisoning and others that will cause additional damage), and a bow as a weapon (the Fast Bow is not bad, because it has a small auto-aiming of arrows. Again, it is advisable with additional damage in the form of reflection, bleeding, etc.), I had ice shards as a melee weapon (slow down the enemy). I downloaded one tactic (violet).

The stages of boss attacks can be divided into 3 stages, each of which will have time to repeat 2-3 times:
1. Flies around the map, sometimes shoots, and makes dashes. I placed the turrets on the lower platform, stood approximately under it, and shot with a bow if the boss was within reach. Because The boss is always moving, constant damage will be dealt to him due to poisoning/burning/bleeding, etc.
2. Releases tentacles from the ground. 1-2 tentacles crawl out under you, the other moves along the entire length of the location. I stood on the right, set up turrets, dodged somersaults before the tentacles appeared, as soon as they came out, I immediately froze them and finished them off with a bow. If you quickly kill one of them, the tentacle that moves across the area will disappear underground before reaching you. And repeat this until all the tentacles die.
3. The boss from above begins to shoot randomly across the entire area. Always save before this attack, because... all downloads will occur due to this attack. Don't stand on the left, because... Weapon icons will visually interfere with dodging. I always stood on the right side of the wall almost in place, occasionally adjusting to the shots and somersaulting.

The boss is not particularly difficult, only one attack creates problems, a massive rain of poison droplets. It's very difficult to dodge, just for luck. I'll tell you how I won the trophy and with what equipment. A SPIDER RUNE IS A DEFINITE NEED. Melee - infantryman's bow or sword on violet. Ranged combat - a marksman's bow (crit at long distances) or a high-speed bow (crit if there are 2 or more arrows in the enemy). Auxiliary - two turrets (better with regular bolts, heavy ones fire slower). Of course, we download everything to violet. We run below, waiting for an attack with aiming (which has a red line). We dodge and shoot either from a long distance with a bow, or close from an infantryman’s bow or sword. As soon as one of the chains comes off, tentacles will crawl out. In the end, these attacks are very unpredictable, so we place two turrets near the wall and, as soon as the shoots appear, we climb onto the wall with the spider rune. If you jump twice and climb, the character will stop just before the spikes, and the turrets will do their job. Once the first wave of tentacles passes, we jump off and repeat the procedure. And so on until victory) As I already wrote, the most difficult thing is to survive the massive rain of acid. But if you do everything correctly, this attack will happen once per battle, or maybe not at all (this happened a couple of times).

The most dangerous attack of the boss is the shelling of the entire area with green shells, the attack can be calculated by the way he takes a position on the screen, rushes around and tries to move away from the player as far as possible, the attack can be interrupted, immediately get as close as possible to the boss by attacking with a fast weapon with good damage ( daredevil or cursed sword) interrupting the attack, he will begin to cast a protective sphere, it is advisable to have an amulet for an additional jump, because when you get close, the boss will try to throw you off, if the boss starts pouring, try to move evenly forward and backward in the corner of the screen, crawling under the shells, some will crash into the wall, when the boss suddenly approaches you, use a bow or throw firebrands; when he releases tentacles, throw turrets or fire bombs, firebrands and constantly roll until the tentacles die and continue in a circle. A “clean victory” is quite possible if you memorize the move set well enough

See the tip for Steam rolled. / Rolled out.
But be careful, it is very difficult to catch him in traps, as soon as you enter the door, take 2 steps forward, throw the trap and wait for a dash in your direction (running strike), he drops into the trap, pour all the damage into him.
Or if you know the "Tentacles" phase well.
