Dead Cells

The Vine Rune will be the first rune you unlock. It is earned by going from The Prisoner's Quarters (first area) and exiting through to the Promenade of the Condemned.

As you work your way to the right through the Promenade of the Condemned, you will reach an impassable area with a green blob that has a "tickle" command, next to a door. Go through this door, and you will need to defeat an Elite Undead Archer. Killing them will drop the Vine Rune, automatically equipped as a permanent unlock.
With the Vine Rune equipped, you will be able to interact and sprout vines to make progress through the game. It will also allow us to unlock new areas like the Toxic Sewers accessed from The Prisoner's Quarters.

This is the first rune you obtain and it allows you to climb vines. This is important and imperative in accessing the Toxic Sewers.

You find this rune in the second level, the Promenade of the Condemned.
