How to unlock the Donk! achievement in Dead Island 2 - Definitive Guide

The absolute easiest way to unlock this is to use the curveball 'electric star'. Can be first obtained in mission Justifiable Zombicide. The electric star does not suffer from any gravity effects/drop so just flies in a straight line until it hits something.

Just look for a zombie in the distance that is static, aim your electric star directly at it and chievo popped.

If you have a friend in the game, you can get them to stand next to or as close to the zombie as they can without aggroing them and you'll be able to see the distance they are from you on the hud. Just back up until you see it over 35m or more.

The regular shuriken works for both challenge and achievement. It's a bit iffy though since you throw out three. One flew off into the distance while trying to get ninja challenge and somehow got the impressive throw a few second after. Was on the beach so I guess it hit a random zombie from further away. Now that I think about it the one that randomly flew off from the side might have auto locked on a zombie which is why it didn't launch the same as the other 2

Another good strategy on top of using the standard shuriken is to do it on a zombie sitting on a bench so they don’t move that way you can go back as far as you want and aim with ease without worrying about the zombie moving around too much

Used the standard shuriken and got it pretty easy. Great tips!

I also used the standard shuriken. Was about to make a comment thinking i was the only one to think of it. It works because when you aim at a far away zombie, if it turns red, then throw your shuriken aiming directly at your target and it will hit it. I had to weaken my target first with a torso shot from a rifle and finished it off with the shuriken.

Absolutely great way of doing this. Got it first try on the beach as well at the Pier aiming at a charger straight-on with the Electric Star.

As a side note, the electric star has drop when you’re playing in co-op, so load into single player to get this one done easy!

The electric star drop in co-op is negligible so don’t be put off!

I found a good spot when you unlock the safe house in Venice Beach. Just around the corner to the left as you exit you should find a crusher nearby.

I got it with this method, but the achievement activated retroactively, I didn't see it pop.

This method does work perfectly for this achievement but it doesn't count for the Impressive Aim combat challenge that you need for the Zombicidal Maniac Bucket List achievement (the name has been changed) so if you want that, you'll still have to do this with an ordinary melee weapon

I was able to get this pretty early into the game. Can do it right out side the first safe house, made a quick video on it

Struggling with this, tried on the beach a bunch of times and couldn't do it. Will try this tonight!

Weirdly I got this achievement with an electric star throw in the Metro, but it didn't credit me for the Impressive Aim challenge.

Just read the comment above and tried with the shurikens. Got it first time including the Impressive Aim challenge.

Yeah the shurikens are by far the easiest way. I lined up my throw with a scoped Sportsman Rifle.

If you fast travel to bel-air (Emma Jaunt's mansion) and head out through the double doors. Head left through another door. Down the stairs through another door leading to the back ally. Head left and look for a black and a blue container. Position yourself right next to the blue container. Select a pike (I did it with a pike but others should work to) and aim for the zombie munching on something on Alpine Drive. Aim above him (roughly with the bottom dot slightly above the little upper cloud) and fire. Should be a hit. If not, head back inside to the safe, reclaim your melee weapon and try again! Took my seven tries to work out the spot and where to aim.

The hardest part about this achievement is figuring out how far away from a zombie you are. I set a waypoint to a locker box and there was a zombie next to it when I got there so I was able to use the compass at the top of the screen to figure out I was over 35 meters away from the zombie.

Unfortunately you cant set random waypoints on the map so again I suggest setting a waypoint to something on the map and using that to judge the distance.

Use cn_LT to aim the melee weapon above the zombie and cn_RT to throw it.

Video guide further explains and shows this.

For this achievement I found the best place to get this achievement was in Venice Beach right outside of the Blue Crab restaurant. Here's the video to fully show the best way of going for this achievement.

This is the spot I used but instead of using the front of the building I used the back. No zombies seemed to be spawning in front 🤷🏻‍♂️. And daggers/knives are the way to go.

An easy location to complete this is along the road outside the back door of Emma Jaunt's Mansion. If you stop near the electrified puddle next to the police car and look down the hill you should see some zombies near a road sign. This is the 35 meters that we need. So, using a full inventory of melee weapons, you need to line up your cursor with the zombie and look up high to throw and hit the zombie. You can keep retrying and if you run out of weapons, head down hill and pick up the weapons you previously threw.

This achievement can be popped pretty early on in the game. Once you have a weapon in your hand and can move relatively far from a zombie, hold cn_LT, lineup the reticle and aim up, press cn_RT to throw it!

I popped the achievement right after leaving Emma Jaunt's mansion but you can do it before triggering the cut scenes prior.

In Bel-Air, at the intersection of Alpine Dr and Access Rd 782, you can usually find a zombie eating a corpse by the busted fire hydrant. If you go east up Alpine Dr towards the front of Emma Jaunt's house, there is a wrecked white car. The white car and the zombie are 35 meters apart.

This is actually much trickier than it sounds. First of all, you’re better off using a polearm weapon like a pike, bo staff, pitchfork, or scaffold pole, as they don't lose so much height during a throw. You can attempt this whenever you come across zombies feeding on a corpse or hammering on a wall or gate, as they’re not staggering around and are easier to hit.

Throwing a weapon across Colt Swanson or Curtis Sinclair’s driveway in Bel-Air is one good place to get this, or, failing that, the open streets in Ocean Avenue, outside the Serling Hotel. Or the beaches of Santa Monica. Ready your aim carefully, and don’t aim too high, using the reticule to gauge the distance of your throw. Your weapon only needs to hit an enemy, so don’t worry about killing them. If your shots miss, keep using weapons until one hits - you can always recover them later.

Whilst this achievement can supposedly be unlocked using certain Curveballs there is also a Combat Challenge with the same stated requirement that you won't receive credit for if using Curveballs and as that challenge is necessary to unlock two other achievements (Bucket List and On Safari) tu may as well do it as intended and just do it once.

The difficulty for this achievement mostly comes from figuring out how far away something is as you can only place map markers on certain items. Whilst you can attempt this in any location I used one of the Lifeguards huts on Venice Beach (West of he Police Station, next to the palm trees when looking at the area map). If standing on the path and looking toward the hut there are three discoloured patches of sand that are 40m away from the hut (measured using the initial map marker for the Coast Guardian quest). Throw a Meat Bait at the hut wall to gather up a few zombies, stand on the dark sand, aim up start throwing weapons until the challenge/achievement pops. If you run out of weapons just gather them up and try again.

Here's an image showing the location in question:

Choose a long straight section with, for example, cars at both ends (a good place near a shopping center). Aggravate a crowd of zombies, run around so that they crowd together, and while running from edge to edge from a hill, throw your weapon. Be sure to take something trash so you don't throw your main weapon behind the textures.

The trophy was dropped on the beach in Venice Beach. There are a lot of zombies there that constantly spawn, and the location is large. I advise you to take the Cleaver, since it is light and therefore flies further. Move as far away from the zombies as possible and throw the cleaver while holding and pressing . The main thing is to at least touch the zombies; killing is not necessary.

Don't be afraid to throw away your main weapon behind the textures; it will end up in the drawer, in the "unclaimed" section

You were knocked out at the same time as a friend at a location with a beach, stand on any car and look for a suitable zombie. Stock up on gray sticks and I think everything will work out on the first or second try!

It was very easy to complete while playing with a friend. The game shows the distance to your ally. So if you have someone to play with, then you simply measure the distance with the help of each other. We performed on the beach. One goes and knocks the zombie down, the other should by this moment have already managed to run away to the required distance and throw a weapon at the lying homeless person)
Literally 3-4 throws to understand the approximate trajectory, and you can already hit 5-6 without any problems. I did it with a friend in about 5 minutes.

Don't worry about throwing regular melee weapons! Use throwing shurikens - they fly straight with a very small angle of descent. Yes, despite what the trophy description says about melee weapons, you can also use shurikens - any kind.
Move away, aim at the zombie's neck and throw - a hit is guaranteed and the trophy is in your pocket.
I did it this way on the beach - there is good visibility and an open space where many zombies appear, but they cannot see the player at such a distance.
