For this achievement, you don't necessarily need to customize melee weapons. Things like crafting Molotov cocktails count so it is much easier and faster to hoard alchohol and rags and craft them as you go along playing the game.

So do you need a molotov blueprint or does giving the items to Mike at the lighthouse count as well.

Hi! It's been a while since I played the game and posted my solution but to the best of my knowledge, I think you have to acquire blueprints and craft the Molotov Cocktails yourself.
