How to unlock the Nearly there achievement in Dead Island Definitive Edition - Definitive Guide
In order to do this, you need to pick up 120 collectibles. These include:
ID Cards
Facts
Recordings
AND MODS
Mods shouldn't really count towards the total but they do. There are actually 140 Collectibles plus the mods so you shouldn't really have to worry about missing a few.
And if you don't want to worry about searching for them, or you have missed a few and are at the end OR have already finished your playthrough, you can farm the collectibles.
Farming Method
Play a NEW GAME
Skip the prolouge (You will start in the shack)
Pick up the Fact in the back bedroom
quit the game.
Rinse and Repeat.
As of June23, 2016 this works. They claim to be patching the game, but who knows.
Doing this will also help you get

Great guide. Still wish you could see individual ID Cards in the inventory.

This isn't as such a solution but advice.
Weapon Mods/Blueprints including the developers mods count towards this achievement also.
This isn't a hard achievement as I ran through most of the game and obtained this achievement when I got the lab, Just lightly browse areas and buildings and you'll find them with ease, Some are hidden and some are in random areas I.E In the middle of the city I found them lying in the middle of an alleyway etc.
If you get a couple off from gaining the achievement and are yet to do the Arena, There is a mod in the Arena Lobby and one in each of the actual arenas which aren't hard to find.
Since no other solutions are posted or advice I just thought I would give a little bit, It's better than no solution ;)

There are 160 collectibles in the main game during a single Playthrough, so you can miss a few and still get your achievement. This guide is for both this achievement and the, "Gotta Find'em All" achievement which requires 60 collectibles.
For starters, both of these achievements are cumulative. Meaning that once you get a collectible, that will be forever added to your 60 and 120 required for the achievements. This means, you can play as different characters and pick up the same collectibles in a different Playthrough. This also means, you can quit out of the game at any time, and your progress will be saves.
Collectibles include:

Mods
ID Cards
Recordings
I can't really give you many tips on where to find them, but I will tell you as much as I can. You just want to keep an eye out for them. They're normally inside buildings, safe areas, on benches & rewards for completing quests. You can go to the arena and pick up the Collectible on the table in front of you. There is also a collectible in each Arena.
If you want to farm Collectibles (Which I really don't recommend), you can keep making new characters and picking up the same collectible in different Playthroughs.

Here is a list of a full video collectible walkthrough. Although I didn't use this, it may be useful to someone. Just click on the video title at the top and it should take you to a full Playlist.
Also, I got my 120 a little after reaching the Laboratory in Act III, which is where I got it the 2 times I earned this achievement before.
