How to unlock the Arcade Master achievement in Dead or Alive 5 - Definitive Guide

I just beat arcade on legend difficulty without losing a single round with the following method:

Choose Ryu as your fighter.

Spam his 4P+K charge move ("Gao-Sho") and the 7P + 8K move (spinning teleport kick called "Fudo-Ryujo"). You don't need any other moves to succeed.

Try to stay away from your opponents and try to not get cornered!
When the enemy is far away always do the teleport kick and if they are close you can go for the charge move to blast them away. Dont teleport when the enemy is standing in a corner or near a wall. Wait until they come to you! Always try to stay in the middle of the stage, because when you are cornered there is almost no way out. They should not be able to even touch you if you have the right timing! The timing is the key and should be practised before going into battle.

If you end up getting beaten in a corner try using 7K. When it hits follow up with the charge move or try to get some space.

To make the charge move even easier to pull off you can asign P+K to one button instead of pressing two.

With this method i got Tina's and Christie's rare swimsuits no problem.
I hope I could help some of you too. :-)

so you dont need to play as tina to unlock tinas rare suit, christie for christies rare suit and lisa for lisas rare suit? you can basically choose any character you want and as long as you do legend in the 3 different modes without using continue you will unlock their suits?

Yes Gamer186, this is correct.

But unlocking Lisa's is impossible because it seems you have to beat 100 opponents.

So I'm sure you all have noticed that legend's a bit of a hassle. Using this method may help. This may not work very well on Tag. Credit goes to The Enforcer from DOAworld.com

Use Tina's Back + LB (punch + kick) back flip. Just constantly hold back and with a bit of timing press LB to flip and attack. After connecting with the flip, press Down + grab (A by default) to slam the AI while they're down. Repeat as needed.

If you get hit, just let them knock you down. Unless you are confident in your countering skills I'd recommend taking the damage and doing a spin kick to get up. Pressing hold (X by default) will help recover faster when you hit the ground, then you can do your low/mid spin kick (Down/Diagonal Down + B by default) while the AI is trying to attack you. If the AI is in the middle of a combo the spin kick will always hit.

Notes:
Sometimes your follow up grab won't connect. Don't panic, just do another back flip.

Be careful with smaller levels (especially the circus ones), because sometimes Tina will run up the wall and do a body splash. Sometimes it works fine, other times the AI will punish you because the move takes some time to do.

Timing is the key to making this work, but once you get it down the AI will be at the mercy of your flips and slams. If you can beat solo on legend without using continues, you get Tina's rare costume!

Good luck!

It's in the timing with legend difficulty. When you're dealing with the highest difficulty, you're gonna get some B.S. losses. I've had rounds where I just spam back flip and be just fine, and others where I need to time it or I'll get hit mid flip. I've also had to rely on lucky counters to survive. There's not guaranteed sure fire way to complete legend without continues every time, but this was the best way I found to do it. I hope people aren't down voting because it didn't work for them the first time.

If you mean the suit she's wearing in the last fight, the well can't call it a bikini but even if you use continues you'll still get it. I failed like 20 times and tried again and still got it. Vote up though :)

Congrats on getting the, uh let's call it string suit for Tina. Weird, I've heard conflicting reports on how to get the rare costumes. I spent probably 30 minutes on stage 3 vs Jann Lee using Hitomi and I didn't get the suit. My first try using Tina I didn't use continues and got the suit. Thanks for the vote up!

Maybe you just cannot use continues on the last fight vs Tina? I used some and did not get it, gonna try again tomorrow.

I can confirm that the strategy doesn't work. Sometimes it does, most of the time it doesn't, especially on the harder difficulties. They will always find a way to manuever around it or are fast enough to kick you out of the flip.

i can confirm that this strategy works fine! you need a little bit patience but i got it on my first try on legend difficulty, but i died 1 time on the lower master difficulty.

It's all about timing and rhythm, sometimes it works perfect and you win without getting hit and sometimes they keep high-kicking you outta the air, 9/10 times it works like a charm for me. You gotta make the jump just at the sec they're getting up, not immediatly spamming it when they're still down.

I did. After the ground grap i wait for the low hit frames as they get up so i can have a better chance of a hit. if i cant get the move on time, i wait for their 10 to 11 hit combo which normally starts with 2high hits or 1high and 1 medium and i parry the first or sencond as a block. i was even able to grap the AI whenever they block, do parries when i was in the coner, do wake up hits when i was on the ground. But when you reach the 5th or 6th round, the backflip method just doesnt work. If you fail 3 times you are dead. Maybe im just overthinking it. :/ sorry about my grammar everyone.

This is one of the worst strategies I've seen for this. Does not work at all... down voted.

I have been trying this method since it was post it and it just doesnt work for me. after the 5th or 6th match it just doenst work. Ive spend about 3 hours or so a day since using tina's method and nothing. I cleared most of the levels with hitomi playing legit, im not the best player but i managed to finish them with few continues. I think you just got lucky when you got it.

No, I down-voted it, because I've tried this strategy a good ten times or so. This is not mere exaggeration on my part. On the first three-four, they'll hit you, but you can still win with them. But later on? Forget about it.

in order to get this achievement, you need to beat all arcade difficulties on both (solo and tag) modes. you may be in trouble for the last three difficulty. specialy if you want to get tina's swimswit (beating solo legend difficulty without using a continue).
So, here's a cheap tactic at the video below that shows how to beat Legend Modes (Arcade, Time-Attack) in Dead Or Alive 5 without losing/using continues. It kinda balances itself since the A.I. itself is cheap, and its reasoning for being cheap is why this tactic works. That's because the A.I can read your button inputs.

So that's why this kinda works. You need a character with a chargeable attack, like most power blows. I used LeiFang since hers causes her to back up a bit and then attack. In truth, Tina and Kasumi also have similar attacks, so I think you could use them too, though I never tried.

Then you just need to time your attacks. Constantly punish the A.I.'s whiff as it tries to attack/counter what you're doing. Since it's chargeable too, you can always delay the attack when necessary. Basically do it as above.

For the swimsuit costumes, you don't have to use the particular character who's swimsuit you're after. So I didn't need to use Tina to get Tina's swimsuit. Using LeiFang is fine, you just need to complete the mode on legend without losing/using continues. Someone said they didn't lose until the last stage and lost then, but still got the costume, but I'd still try to not lose at all.

As for this LeiFang tactic, the hardest character I came across was Sarah. She just has a lot she can do (or I just can't read her well). I lost to her when I first tried this, so I had to go through the mode again. You can't lose.

This should work in Time-Attack and Survival to get Christie's and Lisa's swimsuit, but yea, Survival looks like a real pain to do and i didn't try it with this method yet.

i also have posted this guide for time-attack master achievement.

TheDamonforever made this video on youtube.

Lastly: Good Luck!

This method will work... but it depends on luck as to which characters you face... If you get Jan Lee or Christie they will probably fuck you up.

Doing the Solo modes with Leifang is fine but who would you say is the best character to go with her for the Tag Team modes? I noticed Kokoro has a kind of similar power blow but I'm not sure she's the best...

hi guys i just got the achievement myself.
you need to beat arcade mode in single and team mode on every available difficulty with only one character. in team of course 2 cahracters of your choice. that means from beginner to legend difficulty. after you beat all of them (8 in solo and 8 in team) the achievement will pop. i used the tina and ryu hayabusa method mentioned in the other solutions.

For this trophy as well as all other Fight Mode trophies, you must clear all the courses for each mode on both solo and tag (Survival is solo only). Here is a list of the courses in each mode for solo and tag:

  • Rookie
  • Easy
  • Normal
  • Hard
  • Champ
  • True Fighter
  • Master
  • Legend

This may sounds like a difficult task, especially with the A.I of Dead or Alive 5 knowing how to read our every move but there is an abusable method to completing all these modes if you play unpatched.

Lei Fang "Exploit":

Using Lei Fang you can abuse her + which is basically a whiff punish move. How this “exploit” works is that from full screen A.Is then to run up and do a move, you can react with Lei Fangs + and she will step back and push his fist forward, this is a relatively strong move for a punish and does even more when they are hit against the wall. Providing you know how to space your + well, then completing even the hardest courses will be a thing of the past.

Tag Mode Alternate Partners:

  • Hitomi: +
  • Ryu Hayabusa: > and +
