How to unlock the Exercise Newbie achievement in Dead or Alive 5 - Definitive Guide

Obviously you have to complete every command training list for every character, which is located under: Main Menu > Fight > Training > Solo > pick a character and stage > press start and then 'begin command training' and follow the list of inputs!

Whether you're going through Command Training to learn a character, unlock their System Voice (no System Voice for Akira, Sarah, Pai, and Alpha-152, BTW), unlock their "Training" title, or earn the Exercise Newbie achievement/trophy, also DON'T accept any throwdown challenges while working on the list as it doens't remember where you left of and you have to start from scratch ..I hope this helps!

Here is a list I found while looking for all characters Command Training: a list of "with", "during", and "while" moves and stances

Some of the moves in Command Training have prerequisites (things you have to do before you do the move), but annoyingly, the Move Lists don't tell you how to do all of these (some of them can be found in the "Special Moves" section (and sometimes other sections), but not all of them).

So here's a list of the moves that are the easiest to pull off/minimal input for the stance. There are other ways of doing a lot of them, but these are the easiest.

BUTTON INPUT:
- u, d, f, b, = up, down, forward, back (combined like df = downforward, bu = backwards up, etc etc)
- H, P, K = Hold, Punch, Kick

All characters:
To get back to default stance (standing, facing opponent): hold H
While sidestepping: u,u or d,d
While running: from 1 or more body lengths away, f,f(hold)

Akira:
(no special prerequisites)

Alpha-152:
Juggling opponent: ub+P
(That should've been called "While floating" instead of "Juggling opponent")

Ayane:
With back to foe: u+P

Bass:
With back to foe: f+P+K

Bayman:
With back to foe: d,db,b+P

Brad Wong:

With back to foe: b,b+P
Lying with legs facing foe: d+P+K
While lying: same as "Lying with legs facing foe" (or do "Lying with head facing foe" and f/b reverse the command)
During Dokuritsu-Ho: b+K
Lying with head facing foe: df+P+K
During handstand: f,f+P+K
During reverse handstand: b,b+P then f,f+P+K

Brad Wong's "Lying with head facing foe" changed to the much easier "df+P+K". Thanks to GeneReaver for pointing that out. I'm not sure how I missed that in his Move List when I was taking notes on Brad! :-P

Christie:
With back to foe: b+P
During Jakeiho: u+P+K or d+P+K

Eliot:
With back to foe: b+P

Gen Fu:
With back to foe: b,b+P (miss with this move, or opponent will end up in front)

Hayabusa:
With back to foe: df+P+K
During Ongyoin: d+P+K

Hayate:
With back to foe: u+P

Helena:
With back to foe: b+P
During Bokuho: d+P+K

Hitomi:
With back to foe: b+H+K

Jann Lee:
With back to foe: b,b+P
During Dragon Stance: f+P,b

Kasumi:
With back to foe: b+K
During Hoshinpo: df+P+K

Kokoro:
With back to foe: db+K

Leifang:
With back to foe: b+P
During Unshu: b+P+K

Lisa:
With back to foe: u+P

Mila:
(no special prerequisites)

Pai:
With back to foe: b,b+P
During Bokutai: b+K,d
During Meishouho: b+P+K
During Hakkeshou: f+P+K,uf+P+K

Rig:
With back to foe: b,b+K
During Bending Stance: b+P+K
In Turn Leg Cut: f+P+K

Sarah:
With back to foe: b,b+P
In Flamingo Stance: b+K
While stepping: b+K then db+P+K
While stepping forward: f,f+P+K

Tina:
With back to foe: b,b+P

Zack:
With back to foe: b,b+K
While Ducking: d+P+K
While Swaying: b+P

for this achievement you need to finish command training in training mode with all 24 characters. so first you need to unlock all of the secret characters.
TIPP: finish your current character command training because when you drop out in the middle of it for example while your doing combo number 60 out of 110 training combos you need to start all over again from number 1. so make sure to finish one character and then leave the training mode after you received the title for beating the command training.

Also note accepting a throwdown invite will reset all your moves though you didn't "leave" the training.

Happened to with Kokoro so I didn't mind but I'd smash my screen if it happened with Akira and his super-duper annoying quick-knee thing move. I got the cheevo though, hard cheevo with all the "while standing with back to foe" and while doing a certain move :P

What's weird is that for 99% of the moves that don't end in a throw, you don't have to hit the AI in order for it to count towards your progress.

I don't think that I'll be getting this achievement, because Sarah, Akira and Hayabusa are giving me a headache with certain moves and I don't have Alpah-152 unlock yet. I might as well give up on this game once I get the other achievements besides this one and the final achievement.

I don't understand the block/kick with Rig and the 1 frame (block in star shape)

For Akira's one-frame move, use the right trigger, or whatever button you have mapped for K+G. (I can't remember if it's K+G, but we'll say it is.) It says to release one of the buttons "after one frame." Hold down the -opposite- button on the pad (G, I think), and -carefully- pull the trigger. Don't pull it all the way. Very slowly squeeze it until you feel it "click," then immediately release it. That's how I did it with minimal frustration.

Upon starting Training Mode you can press and there will be an option to start a characters “Command Training. Command Trainings are basically movesets you must perform for every character from their Move List, nothing combo-esque such as other fighters like Street Fighter or Blazblue. A majority of the casts command trainings range from more or less 100 commands, some significantly longer or shorter then others. As easy as this trophy may be it is quite a grind and will take a while. Also keep in mind that Alpha-152 is also required for this trophy so you cannot unlock this until after you have the The Ultimate Hyper Clone trophy.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
Whenever you start a characters command training you must complete all of their moves before backing out of that training mode session otherwise your progress for that characters command training will not save.

Additonal Notes:

  • Most of the inputs are done relatively fast so if you move is coming out trying pressing the buttons faster (Rarely do you have anyone who involves timing such as the Virtua Fighter characters)
  • You can hold down to preview the move if for some reason you cannot perform it and would like visual aid to catch the timing for the input if there is one.
  • More a majority of the cast there will always be a point in time during the training where they ask you to perform a move with your back facing the opponent however they don’t tell you how to get in that initial position. If you can watch out for what moves put the character into this position during the earlier commands otherwise if you have a second controller you can back out of the command training and turn on 2P control over the fight dummy and have him side step to your other side so that your back is now facing them, resume the training from here and perform the required move.

Virtua Fighter Specific Tips
As noted above most of the cast have near mashable commands however with the Virtua Fighter characters they have some moves that require a slight delay on some of their commands and this will be easily notable when you fight you can’t mash it out for completion.

Another specific tip will be fore Akiras 1 frame release attack, some players seem to be confused by this. The best way to do it is to “piano” the inputs and fast and keep doing this until Akira performs the move for the command training progress.
