How to unlock the Zombie Fu achievement in Dead Rising 2 - Definitive Guide

Credit to Catatonic Nali for the original idea on the 360 version. This is my spin on that excellent solution.

Once you unlock the "Smash" skill while leveling up, go to a restroom and immediately make a save. Now, remove the Ninja outfit piece, if you are wearing it, and head to the Royal Flush Plaza. This is the first mall type area that you come to after leaving the hallway from the safe house. From that hallway, head to your left, to "Flaming Craps" (the oversized craps table). It is about halfway to the exit to the strip in the middle of the mall. It is an oversized felt for a craps table on the floor and it has three zombie guards and a couple of oversized dice inside a short walled area.

Jump the half wall and kill the three zombie guards inside. If you stay inside the short wall, zombies will start moving up to the wall and are unable to get to you. Go to the half wall, hold cn_RT and just repeat pressing cn_X to perform the smash move while moving around the table to where the zombies are. When you run out of zombies, go to the exit to the strip, doing Elbow Drops (jump with cn_A then cn_RT + cn_X) along the way. Go out then back in and now all of the zombies in Royal Flush Plaza will have respawned. Rinse and repeat until unlocked. I got about 80 kills per run, so about thirteen runs depending on how many barehanded kills you have gotten before.

You will unlock
Dead Rising 2SmashyThe Smashy achievement in Dead Rising 2 worth 64 pointsSmash 100 zombies using the Smash skill move.
after the first hundred smash kills.

After you unlock the achievement, reload the save you made and go back to whatever you were working on before you unlocked the "Smash" skill.

Has to be done in a single playthrough.

Right, but it only takes an hour or less. That's why I say once you unlock the skill, make a save. Knock it all out at once, then reload that save and go back to what you were doing.

what table are you talking about?

It’s not actually a table. It’s an oversized replica of a craps table that is actually on the floor with a half size wall around it and a couple of zombie mall cops inside it. It’s in the middle of Royal Flush Plaza, which is the first area you come to outside of the safe room. It’s kind of hard to miss.

Excellent guide.
Not sure if someone has already commented on this, but when you say "hold RT and just spam X", don't 'spam' X by tapping it. Hold it down for a second. Tapping it causes you to do a kick, which doesn't kill the zombie in one hit. Holding it causes you to smash the zombie's head into the rail, killing it instantly.

Maybe I used the term spam incorrectly, I just meant repeat the smash move around the table until you run out of zombies. You can keep the RT pulled and repeat the x part of the move.

For anyone struggling, on the second floor of the Royal Flush Plaza there is a store called Ragazines that has the Hand-to-hand combat book. This increases your damage and makes killing them by punching somewhat viable. Take this with you as you do your playthrough if you wish.

I was using the other method then decided to make my way to the strip and down to the Fortune City Arena and I noticed a large number of zombies by the entrance of the bomb shelter. And elbow dropped the zombies and went from 600 to 1000 in about 10 minutes or so. Went from bomb shelter to fortune city arena where a large amount of zombies were

While playing through the game, use your jumpkick move ( then ) to kill zombies. While leveling up, you'll receive additional barehanded moves. Not only are these moves fun to mess around with, they'll make killing zombies quite a bit easier. There is a magazine located in "Ragazines" inside the Royal Flush Casino. The magazine is called; Hand-toHand. Use this to help you with your kills.

The kill count is spread across all playthroughs, given you restart the story from a previous save, but there have been reports of it not unlocking, so it's best to contain them in one playthrough, just to be on the safe side.

Note: The moves you receive while levelling are random. Don't worry if a certain skill hasn't unlocked yet, you'll get them all eventually.

This is a trophy that you'll want to wait until you're a fairly high level unless you're a masochist with time to kill (no pun intended). You'll also want to be carrying the Hand to Hand magazine from Ragazines (R212) which gives your bare handed attacks additional power. Ragazines is on the second floor of the Royal Flush Plaza. Make sure to press to put the magazine away after picking it up, otherwise you'll just read it over and over again. For various reasons, you should attempt this trophy before Case 6-2 in any given playthrough. A good move to use is the Elbow Smash (Press to jump, then while in the air hold and hit ), as it will kill multiple zombies with each hit. Coupled with the Hand to Hand magazine and you'll do some serious damage. Remember that you will have to accomplish this in a single playthrough.
