How to unlock the Craftsman achievement in Dead Rising 4 - Definitive Guide

The blueprints in Multiplayer are unlocked via the multiplayer-only trials. There are 15 in total. Most of the blueprints are gold variants of existing blueprints, but there are 3 unique healing items you will unlock as well.

In order you unlock all of the blueprints, you need to complete the following trails (you will unlock some weapons along the way as well):

Epic Loot IV - Kill 50 loot zombies
(Solo or Multiplayer) These are the fresh zombies with bags on their back. They will spawn more frequently on later episodes.

Like a Boss IV - Kill 50 bosses in Multiplayer
(Solo or Multiplayer) In order to face a boss, you need to complete all three missions on day 2 of an episode. In order to complete this trial you will need to complete at least 50 episodes, which will take roughly 25 hours. I do not recommend doing this solo as bosses can kill you very easily.

Teamwork IV - Complete 250 missions in Multiplayer
(Solo or Multiplayer) Missions are the Yellow, blue and pink objectives you get at the begining of the day. Later episodes give you more starting missions per day, but are also more difficult.

Day Tripper IV - Complete 50 days in Multiplayer
(Solo or Multiplayer) Each episode contains two days, meaning you'll have to complete 25 episodes, which won't be a problem if you're going for the other trials.

Helping Hand IV - Revive another player 50 times
(Multiplayer Only) Reviving players is a good way to earn points. Obviously this requires at least two people in a session. There's also a trial for having every person of a 4-man team get revived without dying, so if you're looking to boost, might as well do that one too.

Combat Medic IV - Heal allies for a total of 20,000 health
(Multiplayer Only) You'll need one of the three healing combo weapons for this trial - Gren-Aid, Spray n Pray or Rocket Bandage. You can either unlock the trial for the recipe and craft if yourself, or hope to find them dropped by loot zombies or in mission reward crates. The maximum health a player can have is 1500, so if you're boosting this with four other players you could get it done pretty quick.

Zombie Killer MVP IV - Earn the Zombie Killer MVP title (by killing the most zombies in a single day) 15 times
(Multiplayer Only) You'll need at least a two-player session to earn the title, which is one of the gold badges awarded at the end of each day. There's no real way to keep track of how many zombies you've killed other than the total number in the bottom left corner. If boosting this, I recommend only one person kill zombies per day.

First Blood IV - Earn 15 First Blood bonuses
(Multiplayer Only) Be the first player to kill a zombie in a day and the award pops up immediately. Recommend doing this with the MVP trial.

All This Love to Give - Heal 3 different players in a single day
(Multiplayer Only) You can get this at the same time as Combat Medic if you're in a boosting session with enough people.

Team Building - Kill 500 zombies in a day as a team
(Maybe Solo?) Again, no real way to keep track of how many zombies you've killed other than the total number in the bottom left corner. Recommend doing this with three other players, all off on their own direction to maximize the number than can be killed. Note: This trial keeps popping up as being completed every time I finish a day, whether playing solo or not. I have the blueprint, and it's marked as completed, but there may be other glitches related to this trial.

Speed Demon IV - Be the first to arrive at the Safehouse 50 times
(Multiplayer Only) You can usually determine where the safehouse is before Hammond actually finds one for you based on the red lights near/above the entrance. You can even be in the safehouse when 9:00PM rolls around and be automatically marked as first.

People come here looking for guides, and there aren't any, because the game has been out for only five days. I'm at least letting people know what they can expect when going for these achievements.

Feel free to submit your own guide if you feel you can do better.

laugh Wrong, I DO RECOMMEND doing the 50 boss kills SOLO since it's faster that way if you just do episode 1 over and over again. To fasten things up simply die after you killed one. Also the three in episode 4 only counts as one to clarify that. You can even solo them just throw grenades and run in circles, piece of cake. Just a waste though so do episode one!

@BLAZE VII In my experience, the bosses that spawn are random, and when facing the boss in the Exo suit he would easily grab you and instantly kill you.

By WackFiend on 19 Dec 2016 02:29
They're not random.

Episode 1 is always Santa Claws (easiest boss, easily solo-able).

Episode 2 is always the woman with the fire sword (harder, but still solo-able with levels).

Episode 3 is always the zombie in the exo suit (EXTREMELY BUGGED, only one survivor can hit him, and he always goes after that one person and auto-slams them to death)

Episode 4 is the three Triceratops Head (acid/ice/fire) bosses. (SOMETIMES BUGGED, sometimes they disappear, leaving you trapped in Kichihiro plaza the rest of the round without being able to get the boss kill credit.).

Also, I would recommend doing WITH ONE PARTNER You can trade off firsts to the safe house (you day 1, partner day 2) and get the boss kill on day 2. Since you have to kill 50 bosses and need 50 safe house firsts, its natural to do it this way.

By JohnnyInterfnk on 23 Dec 2016 21:35
@JohnnyInterfnk That seems like the quickest method for those. I probably thought the bosses were random since I've only ever done quick matches and didn't pay attention to which episode I was in.

If you're looking for zombie kill count medals, it's easy if you always go to the gokart race track and use the combo vehicle Kill-O-Watt and just drive around the mall clockwise for 100s of kills each day. High volumes exist at the bottom of the pirate ship (100+) and in varying locations on different days. From my experience, barely anyone knows about the Kill O Watt so I managed to get the trial in minimal days.

If you're a high level character and you have the Gold Bazooka and/or Gold Electric Axe blueprints, you can solo those Mission 4 bosses easy as fuck. Go in with 2 or 3 Gold Bazooka Cannons and they just melt their health bars away. It's always best to have an axe just in case you run out of ammo, which you probably won't, but I'm just extra cautious.

A quick tip for revives/heals, the fire lanterns (ideally gold) is really effective, and gren-aids are good healers, they give a big instant chunk as well as some healing AoE.

I think ep 2 starts at the food court that has the lanterns.

My friend and I discovered an easy solution to doing the 250 missions and 50 bosses easily.. let start with the bosses

Two people are required for this, both of you will be taking turns doing this. The friend that is the host will not be doing this first. Start off by loading up episode 1 then both of you getting some Bazooka Cannons, they can be purchased from a store or make with a Toy Cannon and Chemicals which can be found in Ye Olde Toybox in the area you Spawn in.

Now that you've done that, complete the main mission and do the kill zombies side missions up until 100/100 kills(this is so the boss spawns on day 2)then just do whatever until day 2.

*1 Day Later*

Now that you've got to day 2 still with your Bazooka Cannons(Make them gold if you can for bonus damage), do the main mission and any side missions that follow, once that is done it should be roughly 12 noon - 1 pm and the boss should spawn. Make sure you both run over there to the gong(DO NOT HIT THE GONG)and have the host get somewhere safe. Here's where the method comes in.

Have the host kick you from the game and you'll notice you'll be in a game by yourself, spawn and kill the boss then join your friends game in progress, once you spawn in his/her game pick up the Bazooka Cannon( It'll be where you were last standing in his/her game before they kicked you, if not have the host drop you one that they should of picked up)
*NOTE*
Make sure the host doesn't spawn the boss in their game, when the day is going to end then they spawn and kill the boss so at least they get 1 kill.

Have the host kick you, kill the boss, join back and pick up the gun, host kicks you, kill the boss, join back....yeah you get the idea

Alright so for the 250 missions it's almost the same thing, load up epsiode 1(pay attention here) clear out the area it says to for the first main mission and it should say collect your reward to complete it DON'T collect the reward. Have the host get somewhere safe and kick you, once you've been kicked collect the reward and you'll get credit for the mission, join their game, get kicked, collect reward, repeat.

Hope I helped everyone out! :D

P.S if you have no one to do this with message me on Xbox asking me for help on DR4 multiplayer and I'll spend some time helping you out :)

The Bazooka Cannon blueprint is earned by completing Case 4 in story mode.

You can make the combo weapon by mixing Toy Cannon + nitrogen, chemicals or fire extinguisher

Great idea, does anybody else get the bug when trying to rejoin the host where it throws you in the original spawn area, with no HUD, and in the host’s game you have a little X. To clarify, it’s kinda like limbo where you’re not actually in the host’s game (even tho it says you are) and can’t spawn the boss. My partner and I found that once it happens, any attempts to rejoin will fail the same way, and we have no idea what the cause is...

For anyone curious, you get the Gold Bazooka Cannon bp by surviving 50 days in multiplayer episodes. I found it best to farm for the Speed Demon trial first and once you get to 50 days completed you'll have the Gold BC bp and be ready to do this farm better.

Beautiful concept regarding the bosses! Got 7-8 done every round, with a few improvements on your method it saved me a ton of time.

Missions however are more easily done a different way.

Regarding thatNoseyParker's comment: You can't quit too quickly. Once you have killed the boss, wait a few seconds until the message pops up on your screen that you have defeated him. Then it is safe to quit and re-join your partner/dummy.

This is a strategy to completing the required achievements, rather than a list.

A few things to note about this achievement (and multiplayer in general):

This achievement will take at least 25 hours to complete. Each day will take 12-20 minutes, and each episode contains 2 days. You’ll have to fight 50 bosses, which means you’ll need play at least 100 days. There is a slightly quicker way, but I recommend waiting until you’re finishing up this achievement.

This game is currently glitched. Remember that when something weird happens or something goes wrong. There is a specific multiplayer glitch that prevents you from completing a mission and fighting a boss.

You can complete this by joining other people’s games. Sometimes this can be is quicker than starting your own game, and waiting for people to join you.

I recommend completing (but not 100%) the main story mode. You’ll know the game a bit and have better weapon blueprints available, as most of the weapon blueprints are found outside the mall area (you cannot find them in multiplayer).

Finally, use the vending machine for food and weapons. You’ll have plenty of scrap from completing missions to afford anything you need.

For the achievement, you need to complete the 4th level of certain PP trials.
These are the two PP trials you need to focus on for the achievement:

Speed Demon IV - Be the first to arrive at the Safehouse 50 times
This should be your main objective. The safehouse appears at 9:00PM. You’ll start to learn the safehouse locations for each day in each episode as you play.
Note: This CANNOT be done solo.

Like a Boss IV - Kill 50 bosses in Multiplayer
This should be your secondary objective. Bosses appear only after completing all missions in day 2. The first two episode bosses are easy; episode 3 and 4 bosses are difficult, even at a high character level. You can get to a safehouse only after beating the boss, if you’ve already summoned the boss.
I recommend completing the day’s missions and have the boss appear while going for the safehouse objective.

The three bosses at the end of Episode 4 only count as ONE boss kill. You can leave the game immediately after killing the boss and still get credit (good tip when soloing) - (Credit: Lt Warfarin)
The quitting tip is how you can kill more than two bosses per hour. My personal best is completing episode 1 in 17 minutes, so that only raises it to 3.6 per hour.

Note: One mission will have you destroy a barrier and then kill the Obscuris leader. Every once in a while, the leader is 17,000+ meters away! Still complete the day to be the first to the safehouse, but you will not be able to fight a boss.

Also – this can be done solo, but I would wait until you have completed all other PP trials that require multiplayer.

Focus on those two objectives to get this achievement.
You will end up with a lot of extra time waiting for 9 pm, as most of the missions aren’t difficult.
If you want to check the menu, go to the top level of a mall kiosk or behind a counter. Only fresh zombies can reach you, but if you kill a few of them, they won’t auto respawn and chase you.
Also – you will be kicked within 5 minutes of inactivity (no controller movement; browsing menus is fine) EVEN IF you are the host.

While you wait, you can also focus on completing the following.
All of these listed are also needed for the achievement:

Helping Hand IV - Revive another player 50 times

Try playing with people who are level 25 or lower. There are numerous skills that decrease the possibility of dying, so finding people who just recently started multiplayer is the only way to get this without boosting. (Boosting works if you can find a partner).
Note: There is a PP trial related to this: I Get Knocked Down – Finish a day where every player is revived once, but no one dies. I revived my random coop partner and then immediately got myself killed to he would revived me. I also kicked another player who joined late and still completed the trial.

Combat Medic IV - Heal allies for a total of 20,000 health
The character Connor (the hipster) starts with the Spray n Pray, although the gren-aid and rocket bandage work as well. Best time to heal players is in the safehouse. Everyone is in an enclosed space, rather than running around (and not getting healed).

All This Love to Give - Heal 3 different players in a single day

Same as above, but you need to be in a 4-player game. As of 12/31/16, it is easy to get connected to a 4-player game.
You can run around and heal each person if you’re having trouble, rather than waiting for the safehouse. The trial pops right away once completed.

Zombie Killer MVP IV - Earn the Zombie Killer MVP title (by killing the most zombies in a single day) 15 times
Not that difficult, but if you have a much higher score (and haven’t been reviving people), you should get this. 15 times will not be difficult while going for the other trials.
First Blood IV - Earn 15 First Blood bonuses
Get the first kill – use a firearm or explosive. 15 times will not be difficult while going for the other trials.

Team Building - Kill 500 zombies in a day as a team

You’ll get this while playing with 3 or 4 people without even trying. Once again, not difficult if going for the other trials above.
After you get this, it will continually pop up as a glitch. Don’t worry; the trial will stay completed.

After you have completed the Speed Demon and Like a Boss trials, you will have also completed the following:
Epic Loot IV - Kill 50 loot zombies
Day Tripper IV - Complete 50 days in Multiplayer

The final PP trial you might have left is:
Teamwork IV - Complete 250 missions in Multiplayer
These are the starting missions and not the kill XXX zombie missions.
After defeating 50 bosses, you’ll have over 150, as you need to complete the day 2 missions to fight the boss.
Episodes 3 and 4 have more missions, but they are harder and more time consuming, especially solo.

Hope this helps as way to tackle this time consuming achievement.

Any thoughts or comments, let me know.

Finally, here are the additional PP trials that can be completed while trying to complete the above.
Note the Geronimo achievement – it will be difficult to get if you have too much health or bought too many skills:

Bling I, II, III – Create 1/5/10 Gold Combo Weapons.
Holiday Hellraiser – Complete 3 missions in episode 1.
Plaza of Pain – Complete 8 missions in Episode 2.
Boardwalk Butcher – Complete 12 missions in Episode 3.
Amazonian – Complete 15 missions in Episode 4.
Looter I, II, III, IV – Loot 5,000/20,000/50,000/100,000 scrap from zombies.
Glutton I, II, III – Eat 10/20/30 times in one day.
Counting Calories – Survive a day without anyone dying or eating food.
Pacifist – Survive a day and complete a mission without anyone killing a zombie.
I Get Knocked Down – Finish a day where every player is revived once, but no one dies.
Close Call – Reach the Safehouse with less than 50 health.
Geronimo – Lose more than half your health from falling damage without dying.

The only restrictive thing on this acheivement is the safe houses. If you are lucky you can keep getting there first. But the more people you play with the less your odds are.
