How to unlock the Tape It or Die Fanatic achievement in Dead Rising 4 - Definitive Guide
To my surprise, I got this achievement well before I got the 51 unique combo weapons trial in the single player game. With some experimentation, I think I've sussed out the requirements for this solution.
For the achievement: You need to create 58 unique weapons from a combination of the 51 you can make in the single player, the 3 multi-player healing weapons (which you can only create in multi-player) and the 12 gold combo weapons. Combo Vehicles do NOT count.
Here is an alphabetical checklist of the weapons available in the single player game. Unless otherwise noted, it is created using the blueprint of the same name.
The following are the three healing weapons you can only make in the multi-player portion of the game, and are unlocked by performing multi-player trials.
The following are the twelve Gold Combo Weapons you make by combining the "base" combo item with a gold bar. Like the multi-player healing weapons, the blueprints are earned through multiplayer trials:
Common issues and misconceptions:
-- The DIY Grenade and Santa Trap blueprints create three weapons each -- an acid type when combined with chemicals (ex household chemicals), a fire type when combined with flammables (ex. gasoline cannister), and an ice type when combined with cryo (ex. liquid nitrogen). Each type counts toward both the 58 unique weapons achievement and the 51 unique weapons trial.
-- Unlike the DIY Grenade and the Santa Trap, Blast from the Past only has one "type" (explosive). There are rumors out there to the contrary, but I've found these rumors to be false.
-- Again, vehicle combos do NOT count for this achievement.
-- Gold bars are found on counters of random shops during your New Game+ (assuming you completed chapter 6 of the game). You can also find them randomly in multiplayer or (much easier) buy them for the vending machines in multi-player for 3000 scrap (2400 with discount)
-- Almost all of the ingredients needed to make these items can be found with one of the four Weapon Vendors in the four emergency shelters on the map (the most commonly asked about item, the microscope, can be found from the vendor in the north district. I believe the flare gun can be found in the west district, correct me if I'm wrong on the latter). If you don't see something at one vendor, try the next three. The few items you won't find at the vendors, like the toys and masks, should be easily found at an appropriate shop/area (i.e. toy store for the masks, Christmas Village in the mall for Christmas items, etc)
-- Be aware when using the 51 weapons trial as a counter for this achievement, as it will tick up once when the first gold combo weapon is made, but not again for the second weapon on (as you only need to make one gold combo weapon for this trial). The counter will also not track multi-player only healing weapons.

You can only make them in multiplayer and you can only make them once you get the blueprints, which are obtained by completing trials. The three trials you need to complete are:
Like a Boss I
Requirement: Kill a boss in Multiplayer.
Prestige Points: 500
Scrap: 500
Unlockable: Spray n’ Pray blueprint
Difficulty: 1/5
All This Love to Give
Requirement: Heal 3 different players in a single day.
Prestige Points: 3000
Scrap: 3000
Unlockable: Gren-Aid blueprint
Difficulty: 1/5 (Requires three partners)
Combat Medic IV
Requirement: Heal allies for a total of 20,000 health.
Prestige Points: 3000
Scrap: 3000
Unlockable: Rocket Bandage blueprint
Difficulty: 3/5
I forget off the top of my head what the blueprints require to make these items, but I don't think the ingredients are rare outside of the rocket launcher needed for the rocket bandage.

there are two flare guns in Big Bucks Hardware in Old Town, and more than two gears items to combo with for the Rainin Nails. i used both, then just restarted checkpoint and went back, rinse and repeat for the 15 gun combos trial too

Online required. There are 51 combo weapons in the single player game, meaning you have to make the other 7 in multiplayer. (Technically, you can make them in single player, but you have to unlock the blueprints in multiplayer first.) As noted elsewhere, you get multiplayer blueprints by completing trials. As for single player, you will earn some blueprints as you progress throughout the story, and others have to be found. You can buy maps that lead you to them as you level up safe houses.
