How to unlock the Workin' Hard achievement in Dead Rising 4 - Definitive Guide

***MISSABLE!!!*** Unfortunately, if you upgrade your fortitude too much before doing "Geronimo" in multiplayer, the trial will become impossible to complete. Hopefully a patch will address this.

EDIT: Changed formatting to hopefully make this guide a little less confusing.

I can't seem to get PACIFIST by this method. The trial says complete one mission, usually these involve killing something. Any advice or clarification would be appreciated, thanks

Does anyone know what combos you need to make to get the pistol combo creator trial completed? I'm only missing that one and the Master combo creator trial and I'll have all the exploration ones completed.

I've tried pacifist two times now too Alan. Didn't get it either. There are some missions where you only need to take pictures or break something. I assume this would be something you need to do to make it register.

Edit: I just did pacifist. Episode 2, had to get 4 bombs then set the charges. I lured all the zombies away from the explosion and finished day 1. Got it at the end and was able to kill again day 2.

The 3 bosses in episode 4 look like they only count once on the trial list... despite counting 3 times on the leaderboard.

Does anybody know anything about photographing the persons of interest?? I've held off completing all of the cases, because I'm not sure how much you can go back and do... I know there is case select, but idk what carries over if anything from the previous save. This seems like a highly missable trial... cry

I'm not sure on that one honestly. I've been doing nothing but multiplayer to finish that up first. Haven't really played the single player at all.

The kill x amount of zombies missions you get after doing the normal missions dont seem to count towards the 250 missions wich makes this a longer grind

I had my suspicions on this one. It's really not that big of a deal though. Just complete the missions you can get and then quit out after you kill the boss on day 2. Make sure you always grind on episode 2 because you get 3 missions at the start of each day.

Somebody posted a vid on youtube for feeding frenzy and I just got it that way as well. Load up case 1 and make it to Caribbean Cove. Right before you go in the shelter access tunnel crouch and slowly walk to the edge of stairs, three should be feeding. If three are not feeding go "explore" then come back.

My Master Combo trial is 0/51, but I have crafted dozens of combos, incl gold. I am wondering if it is because I am MP only ATM. Can anybody clarify? TVM. This is a very useful thread, suspect it will grow!

The pistol combo creator is just raining nails blueprint nothing else worked and in MP if u max health jump off pirate ship crows nest onto floor by boat i had 1000 health at the time and lost 700 of it.....and for the 51 combo weapons u need to be in SP and the santa trap and DIY grenade each have 3 things for it that count...Fire....Ice...Acid...so gas cannister..liquid nitrogen...and acid...

Hello. Not played SP so bear with me.
Can anybody explain the 58 unique combo weapons (for the achievement) please?
I thought 51, incl extras, was available in SP.
There are 3 healing combos in MP.
Can anybody confirm the missing 4.
I have crafted 6 gold combos, but they were not tracked on the trial.
Thanks for any info.

@Alandonovan

None of the multiplayer gold blueprints count. You are probably missing the variations on the Santa trap and the DIY grenades. One pattern for both of these, but you have to make the Ice, Fire and Acid variation of both which is 6 combos for 2 blue prints.

Click the spoilers BP. There's tips, most of them are self explanatory. If you haven't played MP yet you'll notice you can only check the list while fighting zombies basically. So this list will come in handy then.

@D3V1Lz ASSAZZ1N

The no hope left you can frequently get when you open a panic room door. Just have your camera ready when you click to open and start taking pics when the door opens. Frequently there is a fresh zombie in the room turning from human. That's how I got mine and I saw it many times afterwards.

Sorry, only one I looked under spoiler was exploration because I was under the impression that each category of 15 weapon crafting needed to be unique. I didn't know you could repeat the same combo builds. I'll retract my vote.

Hello all. Those worried about "missing" the persons of interest photos due to completing the story - never fear. You are able to go back through any case and snag the missing photos after a play through. You'll also keep your current PP and money. It just carries over, hope this helps!

For the Food Chain Trial - I would hit the evolved zombie 3 times with the ice sword. Then it would take 1-3 fish to finish it off. I did it in case 5 where you get 3 at the kimex cement factory then 9 more in the sewers. All are isolated from other zombies so it makes it easier, however you may have to fight them together at certain points. It's very doable.

By JohnnyInterfnk on 23 Dec 2016 17:30
To clarify for all I have to I've multiplayer trial. It's just heal three players not revive 3 players in one day. Just use the spray and pray on three team mates in one day. Much easier than I thought. Way easier than revives!

By Browncoat1515 on 24 Dec 2016 00:40
I boosted Helping Hand. We had 4 people, and we would have 3 people go up an escalator and jump off, then the guy at the bottom did the reviving. This is better than getting killed by zombies, since it is hard to Rez in a pile.

Fire Track – Kill 10 Flametroopers.
I found the quickest and easiest way for this is to simply fight the one at the end of Case 2, then as soon as you defeat him and the explosion symbol pops up, press start, quit to main menu, then load the story back up - the checkpoint put you right at the Flametrooper fight. Rinse and repeat and you'll get to 10/10 in no time.

EASY S-RANK DESTRUCTION PHOTO - kill a group of Zombies, say 30 or so and then toss a grenade into the centre of the bodies and snap the photo just as it explodes. make sure NO ZOMBIES are alive or partially alive in your photo. this will give slasher/horror - if you have done it correctly the destruction will be the main one registered but the points from the bodies will boost it to an S Rank

Anyone have more info on the Master Combo Creator Trial? I used the list, was at 50/51 to start, and in single player, one session, I created every single item from the combo lists. Made all melee combos including the variant Santas and grenades, all thrown items, and ranged weapon. Also a few gold weapons just for grins. Still at 50/51. This is my last Trial. Glitchy is the only way I can describe the record keeping in this game.

Nevermind my previous comment, I was using a list that did not include the Sentry Cat. Created it and both the Trials based achievo's popped. now that 100%, it looks like the main menu option Game Saves, can shed a little light on why this is not complete. You need all skills from single and multi, and more, that I'll let you all check out for yourselves.
I'm missing 1 thing in SP, a training manual that I remember picking up and it is no longer there. These are in different locations for multi, FYI.

By on 03 Jan 2017 10:24
@DeMoNBaLoRKiNgX, if you go to your safehouse in old town, the spot mentioned for this photo is the building directly to your north. It never gets a discovery icon, even if you visit it. You need to get down to the dirt level (there is a dump truck down there). Gather up a big pile of zombies and start snapping pics... it took me a few tries, since some zombies like to get stuck in the walls of the buildings sometimes.

I honestly doubt there is another place in the entire game where this could be done... unless you get really lucky in multiplayer?

I wasn't seeing any evo's in the spot mentioned in chapter 5, however if you play the mission and start climbing up after Tom there will be at least 5 if not more on the 2nd or 3rd floor with no other zombies to get in the way. It's just as you get the exo suit.

I did "The Food Chain" trial in case 3 when yo are in the lab at the winery, about 3-4 evo zombies spawned, hit them once with the Gold Roto Killer and then shoot them with the Fish Launcher about 8 times. When all evo zombies are killed just reload the checkpoint and you will have the progress gained and all the fish launcher back. (I recommend having about 3 fish launcher) Hope it helps!

I've been scouring the net for this, can't find one single thing about it......exactly how do you destroy vehicles for the Driving's For Chumps trial?? I've gotten through most o the other trials and noticed I have 37/100. I tried driving and crashing a car until it exploded, also smashed one until it exploded, nothing. What is this?

....also, DBB, that construction site is definitely a good spot for fresh zombies for me, I would leave it and come back, see if they appear.

For anyone struggling with "Warzone" on photography, I just got it with a flashbang, they have much better detection of destruction than grenades.

Sorry alandonovan, I put in the solution for the achievement where you get through a day without using a weapon. The solution to pacifist is now updated, and Akshun is exactly right. Sorry for the confusion.

For those having problems with the keyboard kills on fresh zombies. Load up multiplayer episode 1. Buy a couple automatic guns, LMG's work best. I usually buy two or 3. Next to the castle on one of the sides is a kiosk with a bunch of keyboards in boxes. There is a keyboard you can actually pick up on top of one of the boxes. Now go find some zombies with the loot bags on their backs, all the colors work. Use your LMG to get a 20 hit combo on plain zombies and then use the Y+B attack on a fresh zombie to get your kill. I get on average 8-10 fresh zombie kills a day with this method. Will give you something to do while grinding the boss trials.

On that note, a good method for boss grinding is doing episode 2 so that you can get more missions toward the 250 trial and then be sure to kill the boss at the end of day 2. As soon as you kill the boss quit out of the game and launch a new one. You keep all trial credit when you quit out including any zombie kills.

@D3V1Lz ASSAZZ1N You can craft the food truck combo vehicle in North Peak over by a night/strip club close to the gas station.

As for a human turning you have to keep an eye out for a fresh zombie that is seizing on the ground, it's a human turning into a fresh zombie. Hopefully that makes sense.

As for me, anyone looking to get the 4 player only trial and achievement, I need it as well so just message me! Thanks...

Big Boy Down I-II – Kill 10/25 Exo-troopers
I only had 17/25 when I finished case 6. For those who need to farm them without wanting to waste time waiting for random spawns I've found a spot there are 3 of them with a flametrooper.

Load up Case 4, then when you leave the house you find Hammond and her group in, you want to go to the spot in the screenshot below (where you are about to get on the highway from West Ridge to go to Old Town)

@Paul Doyle

Man’s Inhumanity to Man
I actually managed to get in the mall in the section where the big pirate boat it is - there was soldier shooting zombies in one shop and the shop next to it had those hostile survivors in it - they weren't fighting each other which I thought the trial wanted.

Because of this I'm thinking you should be able to snap one of these in Old Town down from the Safe House where you create the combo vehicle from the tow truck and hearse - usually there are hostile survivors by the two cars and adjacent to them soldiers...

If/when they spawn may be act dependent, as at the time of screenshot'ing this location image, neither were there...

No Hope Left
Got this one purely by luck/accident by snapping a zombie behind Big Bull 's Meat Shop in Old Town and the trial completion came up. Hopefully this one spawns here for you too - approach with camera out and snap the zombie in that corner that seems like he is feeding from a distance

@SL1CK CHR1S - I remember doing this and having zombies right outside the safehouse door. I also had regen, but got myself down to 10-20 health. Obviously you want to do this solo, so your random coop buddies don't kill them off while you are trying to get beat down.

Anyone know the recipes for the ice fire acid grenades?
Edit: Wow so you have to hit cn_Y when creating a DIY grenade and same with the Santa traps. Different varients to get all the combo weapons made geez took days to figure this out was going through the combo list over and over and was sure I made everything. So easy once I got an acid jar, Molotov grenade, motor oil, and nitrogen to make all the DIY grenade varients and singing santas. Just went into bars (mostly Old Town) in the campaign to find Martini shakers to make the DIY grenades.

*MULTIPLAYER TRIALS TIP*

My friend and I discovered an easy solution to doing the 250 missions and 50 bosses easily.. let start with the bosses

Two people are required for this, both of you will be taking turns doing this. The friend that is the host will not be doing this first. Start off by loading up episode 1 then both of you getting some Bazooka Cannons, they can be purchased from a store or make with a Toy Cannon and Chemicals which can be found in Ye Olde Toybox in the area you Spawn in.

Now that you've done that, complete the main mission and do the kill zombies side missions up until 100/100 kills(this is so the boss spawns on day 2)then just do whatever until day 2.

*1 Day Later*

Now that you've got to day 2 still with your Bazooka Cannons(Make them gold if you can for bonus damage), do the main mission and any side missions that follow, once that is done it should be roughly 12 noon - 1 pm and the boss should spawn. Make sure you both run over there to the gong(DO NOT HIT THE GONG)and have the host get somewhere safe. Here's where the method comes in.

Have the host kick you from the game and you'll notice you'll be in a game by yourself, spawn and kill the boss then join your friends game in progress, once you spawn in his/her game pick up the Bazooka Cannon( It'll be where you were last standing in his/her game before they kicked you, if not have the host drop you one that they should of picked up)
*NOTE*
Make sure the host doesn't spawn the boss in their game, when the day is going to end then they spawn and kill the boss so at least they get 1 kill.

Have the host kick you, kill the boss, join back and pick up the gun, host kicks you, kill the boss, join back....yeah you get the idea

Alright so for the 250 missions it's almost the same thing, load up epsiode 1(pay attention here) clear out the area it says to for the first main mission and it should say collect your reward to complete it DON'T collect the reward. Have the host get somewhere safe and kick you, once you've been kicked collect the reward and you'll get credit for the mission, join their game, get kicked, collect reward, repeat.

Hope I helped everyone out! :D

P.S if you have no one to do this with message me on Xbox asking me for help on DR4 multiplayer and I'll spend some time helping you out :)

This method works and its very effective, especially since "Like a Boss" and "Teamwork" are typically going to be the last two trials that people will need to finish. Very helpful method

I tried several times to do the boss repeat, and it only allowed us to repeat the boss once. After coming back twice, the game split us up and glitched out.

As for the 250 missions part. It worked. Best to start and go and get the zapper tripod in the camera store. it clears the enemies in any store quickly, even running up to get it and coming back down to clear the store down stairs is worth it. by 11am you finished your mission and you can get 8-10 or more completed before 9pm

Beautiful concept regarding the bosses! Got 7-8 done every round, with a few improvements on your method. Saved me a ton of time.

Missions however are more easily done a different way.

This works great! As others have commented it can glitch out into a limbo-esque lobby when rejoining your partner for the boss fight, but after lots of testing I found how to avoid this happening (at least for me).
Once I kill the boss, I always open 1 of the 2 reward crates while waiting til the new objectives scroll through to 'Kill 50 zombies'. Once that disappears, I accept the invite back to partners game. This has worked for me every single time since trying it this way. It seems more likely that the waiting does the trick rather than the crate but you have to kill a little time anyway so might as well grab it. Hope this works for someone else.

Online required. For this, you have to complete all the single player and multiplayer trials in the base game. Thankfully, everything is cumulative (i.e. it’s not like Dead Rising 3 where when you finish tier 1 of a trial, tier 2 starts from 0 again).

For more info on the single player trials, refer to "Story Completionist." As for the multiplayer trials, they are as follows. If I didn’t list what a particular rank unlocks, it’s because it just unlocks PP and/or money:

Create 1, 5, & 10 gold combo weapons
Self-explanatory. Obviously you have to unlock gold weapons to be able to make them. You can find gold bars as random drops, or buy them from vending machines once you've done the "loot 20000 scrap" trial. The last rank unlocks the Solid Gold skill.

Kill 1, 10, 25, & 50 bosses
As noted in the overview, these only spawn on Day 2 of an episode. After you complete or fail all the missions given to you at the start of a day, all players must go to Kiichiro Plaza to ring the Doom Gong. It’s recommended to farm Episode 1 or 2 for this, as they’re relatively easy. Regardless, this is a real grind - it is likely the only multiplayer trial that will take longer for you will be the 250 missions one, and it's very possible this one will actually take more time.

Rank 1 unlocks the Spray & Pray combo weapon, which can be used to heal allies. Rank 3 unlocks the Gold Electric Axe, and 4 unlocks the Gold Ice Sword.

Kill 1, 10, 25, & 50 loot zombies
Loot zombies are fresh zombies that are dressed like snowmen or gingerbread men and are wearing backpacks. This will come naturally as you play. Ranks 1-3 unlock tiers of the Grave Robber skill; rank 4 unlocks the Gold Equalizer.

Complete 1, 25, 100, & 250 missions
Likely the last multiplayer trial you’ll finish, this is the biggest grind of the multiplayer trials – particularly because the “kill X number of zombies” trials don’t count, unless they’re given to you at the start of the day. Once you've leveled up a bit and taken care of the other trials, I'd recommend playing the later episodes - even though they're harder, they have more missions you can complete.

Rank 3 unlocks the Gold Blambow; rank 4 unlocks the Gold Ornament Gun.

Complete any 3 missions in episode 1
Unlocks episode 2. They do not have to be done in one game.

Complete any 8 missions in episode 2
Unlocks episode 3. They do not have to be done in one game.

Complete any 12 missions in episode 3
Unlocks episode 4. They do not have to be done in one game.

Complete any 15 missions in episode 4
Unlocks exo suits. They do not have to be done in one game.

Complete 1, 10, 25, & 50 days
“Completing” a day means surviving it, i.e. getting to the safehouse at the end. Ranks 1-3 unlock tiers 1-3 of the Quick Study skill; rank 4 unlocks the Gold Bazooka Cannon.

Revive another player 1, 10, 25, & 50 times
This is best done via boosting, as it’s a real grind otherwise. Load up an episode 1 private match with a friend, and proceed to one of the nearby escalators outside of Medieval Town. Take turns throwing yourselves off the 2nd floor and reviving one another. If one of you is leveled up a bit already, it’s recommended that person finish his or her 50 revives first. They should then start up a new game in a different save slot – their character will start at level 1 again, meaning they’ll go down super quickly. Once both people have the revives, the person who loaded a new game can go back to their original one.

Rank 2 unlocks the Thick Skin skill; rank 4 unlocks the Gold Laser Sword.

Heal others for 1000, 5000, 10000, & 20000 health
This is relatively easy enough, even without boosting. You can just follow another player throughout the episode and heal them as necessary. The hardest part of this is actually getting the healing items – you’ll either have to play as Connor (he starts with one), unlock the blueprints for them so you can make them, buy them from vending machines, or find them as random drops.

Rank 4 unlocks the Rocket Bandage combo weapon.

Loot 5000, 20000, 50000, & 100000 scrap
Self-explanatory. These will come naturally. Rank 2 unlocks the Investment skill; rank 4 unlocks the Jackpot skill.

Eat 10, 20, & 30 times in one day
Can be done solo. Basically keep grabbing a bunch of food, run into crowds of zombies, and heal yourself every time you get hit. Best done on episode 1. Rank 1 unlocks the Potluck skill.

Survive a day without anyone dying or eating food
Unlocks the Food Bank skill. Can be done in solo private. It’s easier the higher your level. If you’re having trouble, you can do this in day 2, and just proceed to the safe house (see the overview for locations) and wait there.

Survive a day and complete a mission without anyone killing a zombie
Unlocks the Frostbite skill. Can be done in solo private. Obviously some luck is required, as the mission itself has to be one that you can complete without killing anything. I'd recommend hanging out at the safehouse location/finding somewhere you won't be attacked after you complete the mission.

Finish a day where everyone is revived once, but no one dies (“I Get Knocked Down”)
Unlocks the Surgeon skill. You’ll likely have to boost this in a private match (it can be done with 2 people), as this doesn’t happen naturally very often (or ever). Everyone is either good enough to not go down at all, or bad enough that they die quickly.

Kill the most zombies in a day 1, 5, 10, & 15 times (Zombie Killer MVP)
Requires playing with at least 1 other person. Rank 3 unlocks the Out With a Bang skill, rank 4 unlocks the Gold Ion Cannon.

If you’re trying for this legit and are having difficulty, I have two words for you: Split Shot. Either buy 2-3 of them or make them (the latter requires having the blueprint from single player, and then combining a lead pipe with any regular firearm). It’s also preferable to have bought the skills that increase your ammunition for assault rifles (the Split Shot maxes at 480 bullets, which means you can fire continuously for a minute or two without stopping). After that, go to Caribbean Cove where the pirate ship is, and unload on the zombies there – there are usually several hundred in the area. Other good locations are the mall entrance (southeast part of Central Plaza) and the lower floor of the Amazon Food Court, though the latter depends on what episode you're on.

Kill the first zombie in a day 1, 5, 10, & 15 times
Requires playing with at least 1 other person. If you’re having trouble with this, you can shoot zombies through the fence at the start of the day. Just be considerate of others and don’t do that once you’ve unlocked the max rank for this.

Rank 2 unlocks the Gold Floating Lantern, rank 4 unlocks the Gold Acid Maul.

Reach the safehouse with less than 50 health.
Can be done solo. Find some zombies when you’re near the safehouse at the end and get hit until you’re below 50 health. It could be useful to have a partner to revive you in case you lose too much health.

Lose more than half your health from falling damage without dying
Easiest done when you’re a low level, as once you level up the percentage of health you lose when you fall will be less. Just find somewhere that has a 2nd floor and jump off.

If you do goof up and level up a lot before trying for this, you’ll have to lower your health significantly before jumping; you have to lose more than 50% of your current health (not your max health).

Heal 3 different people in a single day
This is in a single game day, not a real-time day. Obviously requires playing with a full game of 4 people. You’ll need to either unlock healing items by completing multiplayer trials, find those items as random drops, buy them from vending machines, or play as Connor, since he starts with the healing spray weapon. Note that it only has 60 ammo, so be careful with it.

Kill 500 zombies in a day as a team
Can be done solo, but is obviously easier as a team. See the method above for Zombie Killer MVP if you’re having trouble.

Be the first to arrive at the safe house 1, 10, 25, & 50 times.
This is the most troublesome of the online trials that can’t be done solo, since it’s a grind, and you can only get one per day. As such, this should be priority number one if playing legit. As noted in the overview, keep an eye out for stores with flashing red lights, as one of these will be the safe house in day 1; as for the day 2 safe houses, refer to the overview for their locations.

The first 3 ranks unlock the various tiers of the Stock Up Skill; the last unlocks the Gold Flaming Sword.
