How to unlock the Punisher achievement in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster - Definitive Guide
There are 12 Psychopaths in the game that count towards this so you don't need to worry about getting them all as you do have some leeway.
If you have the Real Mega Buster that you unlock through the Zombie Genocider achievement then this will make killing Pyschopaths an absolute doddle. It would be my recommendation to get this as it makes mall navigation easier in general as the weapon is a zombie massacre machine.
Otherwise, I found that one of the better weapons to use is Adam's small chainsaw. If you do use the chainsaw be very careful when getting in close quarters with any of the Pyschopaths. The shotgun is a very viable alternative.
I would recommend saving after any Psychopath you do beat just to make sure you don't have to do them again.
Here is a list of the possible Pyschopaths in a fairly chronological order (note Kent as his is over multiple times).
1. Cletus - Huntin' Shack (N127), North Plaza - Sep 19th from 12pm
Cletus will not give you much chance to move about as his shotgun blast is deadly accurate so you need to try and get cover behind the display racks. Don't try to get over the counter or you will get smashed to the ground. Time it so that you can hop out from behind the racks and make your shots in between his or just get close and use the chainsaw.
2. Adam (Clown) - Wonderland Plaza Space Ride - Sep 19th, 9pm (Out of Control scoop)
The easiest way to deal with Adam is to keep your distance and fire at him when he blows up the gas balloon things as they will deal damage to him. You will also have an opportunity to get a few shots off before he gets to your side of the ride at the start of the fight.
3. Steven - Seon's Food Store (L3) - Sep 20th (Case 2-3: Medicine Run)
Steven pushes a dangerous looking shopping trolley around that does deal damage if you get hit by it. If you move out of his range, he will also shoot at you with a shotgun. I found the easiest thing to move away from him and use one of the stalls as cover straight back from where you start so he can't run the trolley into you and then just lay into him with shots. If you are using the chainsaw, move on top of the shelves and then drop down behind him and give him what for.
4. Cliff - Crislip's Home Saloon (L2), North Plaza - Sep 20th, 8am (Hatchet Man scoop)
Cliff is easiest to take down by shooting. You should be able to keep firing at him as he pauses after each shot. If he starts running at you just run a bit away and he will probably attack and miss leaving you open to shoot him again. The quicker you dispatch of Cliff the easier as he begins to use the tunnels after a while. He won't take many shotgun/RMB shots to go down though.
5. Jo - Lovely Fashion House (W208), Wonderland Plaza - Sep 20th, 3pm (Above The Law scoop)
Jo is easiest dealt with using the chainsaw or the RMB and will go down after only a few hits. If you are saving people as well whilst killing the Pyschos, I would suggest letting her come towards you a bit so she is away from Kay.
6,7,8. The Hall Family (snipers) - Entrance Plaza - Sep 20th, 5pm (Mark of the Sniper scoop)
The easiest way to kill these guys is to use your chainsaw and slice them up! The dad, Roger, is the most accurate marksman so he is always better to kill first. They run really slowly so get in close making sure to weave about on the way to avoid being shot and then you should be fine.
9. Sean (Cult Leader) - Screen 4, Colby's Movieland (L1) - Sep 21st, 12am (A Strange Group scoop)
Sean is particularly savage with that blade of his so the easiest way to kill him is to fire off some RMB shots from the start and get him on the back foot and stop him getting close to you or to use the small chainsaw on him.
10. Paul (Arsonist) - Casual Gals (W102), Wonderland Plaza - Sep 21st, 6am (Long Haired Punk scoop)
If Paul gets out of the shop he is a pain to target so the best thing to do is try and chainsaw him before he can escape. If not, just get in close avoiding the bombs he drops whilst running and the remote ones he can send too. You can always use the RMB from afar as well.
11. Kent (Photographer) - Columbian Roastmasters (P202), Paradise Plaza - Sep 21st, 12pm (Photographer's Pride scoop)
To have the possibility of killing Kent as a Psycho, you need to have done the two previous scoops involving him:
- Cut From The Same Cloth (Sep 19th, 2pm)
- Photo Challenge (Sep 20th, 12pm)
They both involve getting certain PP from pictures he asks you to take.
When you come to the last of his scoops, you will then be able to take the annoyance that he is down. He is a weakling and shots from the RMB, shotgun or a few attacks with your chainsaw will sort him out.
12. Larry (Butcher) - Meat Processing Area (under Seon's - L3), Maintenance Tunnels - Sep 21st (Case 8-4: The Butcher)
Larry can be dangerous if you get in close to him as he can hang you up like a carcass and just slice you to bits. I found it easiest to keep your distance and fire away with the RMB/Shotgun.
