How to unlock the Cross your Heart, Hope to Die achievement in Dead Space 2 - Definitive Guide

*************SPOILERS******************
This is a secret cheevo and is called:
Cross your heart, hope to die

Descrption: Survive the eye poke machine

This is a story related cheevo and therefore unmissable, it is awarded at the end of chapter 13 (i may be mistaken, if so comment and i will amend it)

The idea is mopve the laser needle thingy inline with the pupil, when it turns blue press A to move it towards the eye.
Be patient and do it in steps to keep the heart rate low. If the heart rate goes too high you will fail and be killed.

ah.. never mind... but I'd actuall put to get it down to 5.0 without sending the heart rate in the red, then gradually get it to 0.1.. then when it's blue tap A (hopefully before it goes red)

haha wow i never knew u could die by this until 2day, when i was playing on HARD CORE and i fucking jabbed it in his eye. SO PISSED BECUZ OF A STUPID DEATH!!! Now i know that the heart rate thing is actually useful thanks to this!!!

1st off at the front of the machine there is a control panel you must activat which will trigger a cut scene and after the cut scene you need to use if memory serves me correct the left stick to move the needle and press the A button to lower it. Take you time as there no time limit and be sure to get the needle in through the centre of his eye. If i can find a video i will post it on the solution to help.

just lower the needle and when the light is blue you can insert into the eye then remove one's self from the machine and haprosto the achievement will pop. happy gaming

Story related. Unlocks in Chapter 13

At the end of this chapter, you’ll be operating a surgery machine on Isaac. Move the laser over his eye and try to keep it blue while holding . You can observe his heart rate on a panel to his right; Hover the needle just above his eye and stop to let him relax then time your movement accordingly. If done right, the needle will penetrate the middle of Isaac's retina. If done wrong, it turns into a bloody mess.

You need to hit Isaac with the needle right in the pupil.

To the left of Isaac's head is a computer, and it shows the number of heart beats; if the needle is lowered too quickly, Isaac will die. By the way, stick a needle past the pupil and you will see how Isaac can die in the game.
