Complete the game on Hardcore Mode.

How to unlock the Aren't You Thankful? achievement in Dead Space 3 - Definitive Guide

Not a solution but helpful.

Once you have the Devil Horns unlocked from completing Classic mode, you will need to disconnect from xbox live. Delete your cache to get rid of the update, then start up the mode you want to play, get to CH. 3 access the bench on the Roanoke the Devil Horns will be there. Make a save after collecting them resign into xbox live update the game and carry on in SP or CO-OP.

No idea why this has negative votes, it worked perfectly. This should be at the very top.

Everything is a one shot kill and fires as fast as you can pull the trigger. I beat Hard Core in about 6 hours using the Devil horns, and that was after dying and having to go back 2 hours because I forgot to update my save file due to how fast I was going through the game.

This doesnt work for everyone and not sure why. I did classic first then pure survival with devil horns but when I loaded hardcore mode third, it not only didnt give me devil horns but it didnt reward me with my resource pack bonus either. Going to delete save and start again and hope this time my bench on chapter 3 is more kind to me

See here, Now this is helpful and relevant!! > You can copy your save file to a memory device whenever you make what you consider to be significant progress. If you do die, then copy the save file from your memory device back to your HDD (overwriting the primary save file).

^ Anyone who's played the game knows they patched it to where you can't use Devil Horns on most modes, so the method is pretty obvious.

The "hack" has nothing to do with playing in Co op. He simply stated doing this will have it carry over to SP or Co op, since the only way to use them otherwise is to delete the update and play offline. This is simply a work around.

When I load up the game it goes through everything you have unlocked. EXCEPT telling me "Classic Mode Complete".. yet I still have Devil Horns in a regular save game. Why would they not let you use them, its out choice or not!

Does the gamepass version work for this? Also does would I be able to do this in co-op right off the bat or do I have to be in single player mode until chapter 3? Also can you clarify what you mean by "delete the cache," you mean delete the entire game from my xbox and redownload it on xbox offline mode to avoid the updates? That would then mean I have to play single player until chapter 3. Am I right about this?

I didn't ask a question. Guys, this solution hasn't been updated since 2013. The game's forum is probably a better place to find the answer to your question about the gamepass version on X1

@guildality, you literally asked “ does the USB trick work on the gamepass version? also will it work in co-op if one of us does it?”

So you did ask a question!

I have the game on disc but also gamepass.
I’m wanting to know if I can still spam the save trick.
It seems I can’t find a way around it and may have to do it legit but it’s not easy.

@guildality, either way, I don’t think it’s possible now on Xbox one game pass version, you can’t copy saves files now and you can’t fool the game into playing offline to give you the devil horns. Gonna have to tackle this legit and hope for the best

Wanted to also add the following tips:

1.)You can revert checkpoint and save/quit whenever you want (only host can revert checkpoint) so you can use this whenever you get in a pickle and don’t think you’ll make it out alive
2.)Use the item duplication glitch in chapter 8 to max out your rig and have spare resources for medkits, ammo and stasis packs

If you're playing the game digitally via a subscription service or Games With Gold, do not stress out and think you have to go buy a physical copy to get the devil horns. This is not a difficult achievement at all. I did this after going through Classic and Pure Survival and felt this was the easiest of the three. I can't confirm, but feels like the difficulty is set to normal as opposed to hard (didn't feel like hard though). If you use the gun vSully recommends to use in their walkthrough, you'll breeze through it. I never came close to death using that weapon. There's also tons of medkits/ammo drops. Just be careful about the QTEs and the on rails flying sections. I'd argue this was much easier than Pure Survival for me.

this achievements is insanely easy, did it in one sitting, 7 hours, without devil horns. Just use the evangeliser shotgun, and craft a chain gun with force gun underbarrel, its literally an easy achievement. to obtain, i didnt even need to use a single large med pack throughout the whole playthrough. the only thing that could be hard is if you arent careful on the cliff sections, the debris fields or the rocket launcher guys, but it shouldnt be an issue if youve done all the other difficulties. Pure Survival was 10x harder than this for me.

How does the USB save work with Xbox series X.. when I go to the 360 menu > storage, it only shows the save games and profile. When I choose saved game and select DS3, it shows all my saves but only allows me to delete them, no option to copy to USB.

@ TrickySlob - I Don't think that option is available, I struggled with it while trying to create a backup for my fallout 3 save file. You will have to either play it on the 360 or delete only the local data, I guess.. I'm too scared to do that lol

Kinda pointless really. The only likely way you can die on this play-through is the lame set-piece action sequences. Very rarely killed by enemies personally, got too many health kits (B, B, B, B lol).

By Sneaky G Wizard on 09 Aug 2013 20:22
I decided to do it legit, and I ended up getting it on my first attempt thanks to God, (yes I'm thankful).

The Item duplication glitch in chapter 8/9, and the save/quit option helped a lot in several areas, just as The S bot 9000 above said. Although keep in mind, when you return, you will return with however many health packs/ammo you had left when you save/quit'd as well as health, you may need to backtrack to a bench to restock, I had to do this in chapter 18 with the unitologist ambush from both sides of the railing, I was yellow bar and had no health packs, ended up going all the way back through the bench area and then restocking on health and coming back. Enemies don't respawn when you go back as I understand it.

I would also add to complete Survival mode to get the mega resource deposit (one time), I was able to make my favorite gun in chapter 3 in my first work bench and upgrade my rig quite a bit. Having a dead space 2 save to unlock the "legends" suit which gives you an automatic 25 spaces instantly when you change into it is also a major help.

Author does not explain the purpose of doing this, if anything I would want to do this on my own and not depend on the skill of other players. Why would I cheat the game and exploit some hack just to play co-op? Please explain the purpose and like Andy said how does this help the non-combat parts of the game where you can die? If no solution is available then this thread should be packed full of tips and advise.

another way to make your life easier while playing this mode, is after you make your save to take a break, make a second copy to a USB drive.
here is a video that explains it alittle more. not my video. credit goes to nAaTeGaming

I used cloud and USB for backups and had no problems with death checkpoints. I would save every 2 saving (before/after tough parts) to USB and every 3 chapters to cloud so I had different options on reverting to a better checkpoint. Just in case, even though I didn't need it. I had 2 tough checkpoints but it was doable. Took me 2 days (10hrs) to finish it.

Thumbs up! also I recommend doing this solo as in co-op there is twice the chance that one dies and it's game over. Then both have to copy save files. It's just more time and frustration that way.

You start with default weapons. You can use the limited edition (dlc) weapons in any mode. If you buy any resource packs with MSP you get them at the first bench in any mode.

I used the Negotiator (limited edition) weapon in all modes. The first bench is the one in chapter 3 right? For the suit I know you can get extra spaces with the classic dead space suit then switch back to any other suit.

I just saw what Nelson Soldier said 5 minutes ago. That's really fucked up for anyone who pretended to do this WITHOUT USB saves! However, if (like me) you're super quick (or lucky xD), if the glitch happens, you can quickly pause the game and save&quit when Isaac starts falling. but you really need to be quick on that. If Isaac turns around and you move onto the special power platform, then you're good and won't glitch (unless there's a glitch afterwards I don't know about)

Warning, novel of a post incoming...

(The USB slots on my xbox no longer recognize thumb drives, so I went the way of the Cloud, but wanted to make sure my Cloud backup would never get overwritten/synced with my HDD save after dying)

How I proceeded to use the Cloud as a backup save was as follows:

1. Main save ("Choose storage device...") is always my normal HDD.
2. Playthough Hardcore until the first save point after acquiring the Devil Horns from my bench's safe (was playing offline to this point).
3. Save and Quit, return to dashboard, plug in ethernet cable, and sign in to LIVE.
4. Go to System > Storage Devices > HDD, find my Hardcore save slot and copy to Cloud.
5. Return to Dead Space 3, select HDD as my storage device as usual (see #1), load my Hardcore save, and once I'm in the game, I pull my ethernet plug to play offline (you could really do this directly after #4 also). This is so there is NO chance that a death on my main HDD save writes/copies over my Cloud backup save.
6. Repeat steps 3-5 as needed when you feel you've passed a stressful section, or are coming up on a heavy 1-hit-kill area.

To recover your save / load your backup:
When/if you die, as I did once on the stupid ice-cliff stasis part, follow these steps:
1. Immediately pause.
2. If you are not already off-line, make sure you have pulled your ethernet cable, unplugged your wifi adapter, or whatever steps disconnect you from LIVE (but leave your profile signed in).
3. Dashboard
*. This next step makes sure your bad HDD save can not sync to the Cloud. Cloud syncs should only occur as you exit your game and go to the dashboard. Since you disconnected from LIVE prior to dashboarding, the save will not sync until you reconnect to LIVE. However, you have to reconnect to LIVE to grab your backup from the Cloud. To avoid the sync that will overwrite your good backup with the death/wipe save from your HDD, follow this step...
4. Go to System > Storage Devices > HDD > System Items and find "Cloud Storage Console Copy" (or something like that).
5. Delete this file. This is the local cache of your cloud storage and contains the bad death/wipe save from your HDD. It has no effect on your Cloud backup save. By deleting this file, you ensure that your bad death/wipe save won't sync over your good Cloud backup save upon reconnecting to LIVE.
6. Now, still at the dashboard, reconnect to LIVE.
7. Go to System > Storage Devices > HDD, find your bad death/wipe save and delete it (you will see it has progress set to 0% on the save title).
8. Go to System > Storage Devices > Cloud. It will not show empty/free space, but rather will prompt you to Enable Cloud Storage. Choose Enable and you will see all of your Cloud's contents (not synced yet, but that is expected as we just deleted the local cache).
9. Find your good backup save and copy it to your HDD.
10. Disconnect from LIVE and continue playing as outlined in the initial steps listed above.

To finish the game on hardcore with a timestamp (since I was playing offline so much).
1. I made my last backup save at the bench/suit kiosk prior to the last space flight + boss.
2. I simply stayed connected to LIVE, continued my game and finished. Had I died on the space flight (slight possibility) or the last boss (very small possibility), I would have paused, disconnected from LIVE, then followed the recovery steps listed above.
3. The key is that, supposedly, Cloud saves don't sync until you exit the game, so as long as you disconnect from LIVE while in-game, your bad/wipe save won't have a chance to sync until you take the recovery steps listed above.

Sorry about the novel here, but hopefully someone finds it useful if they don't have a USB stick or their xbox is on its last legs with half the things not working, like mine.

I recommend to any one to make a backup save, luckily I did. I've played through the game, without dying, and got to the last platform, where you fight the moon. The platform, for some fucked-up-glitchy-fuck-you-EA reason, disappeared and Isaac just kept falling, he eventually hits the 'floor' and dies.

So yeah, to stop you from throwin your xbox around your room in anger, stay relaxed and copy the backup save over.

After playing this difficulty there are only a few things you need to be aware of compared to standard difficulties:

1. Back-up your save data on either a USB memory stick or Cloud storage (remember if using cloud storage, disable it during playing or it will sync to your hard-drive save. This invalidates your save data if you die).

2. Watch out for instant-kill areas and quick time events (QTE's). Although the QTE's are easily done don't get distracted when they're nearby. Some areas may slip you up if you rush such as chapter 14's gassing rooms, 16's spinning fan blade, and especially the falling rocks/stasis areas when scalling the icy mountains in chapter 13.

3. Play the other new game+ modes first as you'll get a good feel for the levels and enemy spawns. You also get packs of equipment etc for completing modes like Pure Survival or collecting the collectables.

4. Skip all optional missions as they'll only slow you down.

5. Stick to one weapon (plasma cutter, evangelizer or something similair) and keep upgrading it.

6. Upgrade your armour and health as soon as you can.

7. Take regular save breaks for your USB (I did it from Chapter 8 the beggining to the arrival at Tau Volantis, Chapter 14 and then the beggining of Chapter 19 (in-case the flying objects of death hit me). You can save more than this if you're not very confident you'll do everything fine.

8. Sell unused weapon parts (i.e. attatchments, upgrade circuits & handles). You'll want the extra resources.

9. The enemies known as 'Feeders' (starved looking agile ones) are a pain as they usually attack in large groups. Later in the game they also become a dark shade of black with red eyes and are very difficult to kill as they cannot be dismembered. Headshots work wonders, but if you only use 1 gun in the game you might consider also buying a contact beam for your second gun as its secondary fire mode which shoots the ground. This when upgraded with damage and fire rate is great for feeder swarms.

10. Learn to use the combat roll effectively. By double tapping the LB you'll perform a combat roll. When rolling, 9 times out of 10 you'll negate any damage so it's very useful if a necromorph has the jump on you and is about to attack. You can also chain rolls for certain scenarios such as dodging bullets from Danik's gunships, or simply distancing yourself from a swarm of necromorphs.

11. Save up your ration seals till you get 60, always sending your bots out to get resources from resource spots (you'll hear a noise chime). You can then go to a bench, select downloadable content (Y button) and buy an Epic weapon & resource pack with the seals (X button).

1x Epic pack contains:
240 tungsten
800 semiconductors
2000 scrap metal
400 somatic gel
200 transducers
2x Weapon parts

NOTE: People have mentioned in many ways how it is more efficient to buy the smaller packs. If you REALLY want to get lots of resources you can instead buy smaller packs to have earlier access to upgrades etc. However it is by no means essential for this difficulty.

Lastly remember to back-up your saves (which I highly reccomend). Even if like me you don't actually die during this difficulty mode, if you don't back-up your saves you could get killed by a jammy enemy or QTE.

(V Sully posted a great tip for a useful weapon in the comments):

Whoa whoa whoa, tip 11 sucks. You want to spend your ration seals on the 30 packs not the 60 ones. You get the same amount of resources but a better chance at more MK V parts (60 pack = 2 tips + 50% chance at 3rd, 2 * 30 packs = 2 tips + 50% chance + 50% chance which is basically a free chance at another part). Also ration seals are almost completely random (they aren't dependent on the high yield points), so if you are low on resources you can just sit in a room and place your bots until you get enough for a resource pack.

Whatever works for you man, I just got it for the resources. 'Sides they're not THAT essential, more of a helpful boost near the mid point of the game.
0
0
By Triple G Andy on 13 Feb 2013 12:03
Yeah, but it's more efficient for MKV parts, plus you're able to get your resource drops quicker without losing any net resources. Essentially by redeeming them in packs of 30 you are more likely to get more stuff without any risk of getting less stuff and you get stuff more often, win/win. Most importantly you get your first resource pack a bit sooner when it'll be more useful (instead of saving up until you get 60).

In all, there is no reason to wait for 60 because in essence you are only losing stuff at that point.

No it's not Feend so save to cloud or usb unless you're god's gift. Hope doing so isn't going to get me kicked off TA. I'll have company.

Here's a bigger worry. I died on the Roanoke but it spawned me at the bench there rather than the opening sequence. Is that the only freebee they give us? I'm askeered I'll find out later that this glitch prevents the achievment. ???

Well it popped so nevermind. No way that was hard difficuly but don't get cocky and keep going because you're on a roll. You'll regret it. I seemed to be able to use the weapon crafting area to make health, save there and then go back to the HC save. I didn't know that till now and I was able to craft better circuits there than in the game.

Thank you AndrekaO.

I wanted to mention, I had a glitch occur to me at the start of the last boss battle. I actually fell through the platform you are supposed to fight it from, killing me instantly. I'm glad I had my save backed up, but I wanted to let you people know, so you're prepared for funny stuff like that.

I just want to throw in my 2 cents for this, though I doubt I'll try for this achievement. The first gun idea with the Chain Gun/Force Gun combo is a wonder - I LOVE that gun! For the 2nd gun, I recommend making a Chain Gun/Rocket Launcher combo. The rocket launcher, if you put in Circuits that include +Clip parts, you can max the clip to 3 shots before a reload is required. This comes in handy against the giant alien necromorphs, as 3 rockets and they go down for good.

How can you "disable" your cloud storage so it doesnt synch to the games?

I believe you can turn it on & off in the options menu

Well, only popped in here to say its not needed. You dont have to disable anything. The achievement will pop with saves on the cloud, even when synched.

It's manily because if you say back-up your file on cloud and die, then the cloud will notice. It's not because save files in general break the achievement

If you die it will reset your progress back to level 1. So if you say got to level 12 and die, your save file will automatically delete itself making you start all over again roll

Devil horns are way better than all the weapons you could suggest. Why doing it the hard way when it could be so simpler? That weapon is so funny!

@ Ursiform yeah! That section is a big pain! I stasised they elevator so many time and jumped to the other side just to slide for no apparent reason and come back to the original side, then caress the still in stasis elevator, but of course just touch an object that can kill you is enough to do it. The worst moment in game.

If you have the devil's horn, practically only QTE can kill you. Back up often and you should have too many trouble.

So, I just had the same problem as TheDevilishEyes: got to the platform for the final boss, instantly fell through and died. Thankfully, I have my save backed up on a drive. Will reloading the backup fix the issue or will it just keep happening when I load it up?

You get a free Epic pack after completing Pure Survivalist that you can use at the first Work Bench.

Get your bots working and after you've upgraded your weapon of choice just keep buying the first pack for resources. With 2 bots placed in resource rich areas I was buying the first pack at every second bench stop.

Also if you have the pre-order gun or any other DLC weapons, dismantle and build your own. I used the Evangelizer semi-auto with Force gun, pretty much all the way through. Acid bath and Damage support until I got Stasis coating later on.

The difficulty setting is on casual at least but there is added pressure if you don't use this copy-save cheat, an instant death isn't always something you can avoid.

After completing the game 3 full times (Normal\Classic\Pure Survivalist) and playing loads of Co-Op with random players on impossible to get the revives cheevo, this mode is pretty easy...

Having a copy of your save will save you a lot of time if you (or the game) do mess up but this is very doable...I never died once in combat or instant death areas but was killed by a soldiers rocket while I was un tethering the rope on chapter 16, and there was absolutely nothing I could do as it was in a mini cut-scene. Cost me about 1.5 hours but that would have been more like 6 hours without the save-copy.

@fallouthirteen and Andreka0, if you're just going for resources with the ration seals you actually get a greater return doing the generic resource pack(one that costs 10 ration seals). You're getting half the amount of resources in the 30 pack for 1/3 the cost. So in essence, you're getting 50% more resources from the 10 packs at the same cost of a 30 pack. I realized this when I started my classic run and figured why get the parts when you can't use them.

One thing that no one has mentioned (possibly because it's incredibly obvious) is something that I used in my Classic/PS runs that helped me conserve health packs as I progressed through the game. I'll be using the strategy for Hardcore also.

Any time you upgrade Isaac's RIG, your health bar is maxed out. For this reason, I would refrain from purchasing more than one or two upgrades at a time (focusing on health/armor/stasis initially). By the time I got to chapter 14, these three things were pretty much maxed out and there's a suit kiosk that you'll pass by several times as you grab Rosetta's cross-sections. So, if I needed health, I wouldn't burn health packs but try and make it to the suit kiosk instead, buying an upgrade I maybe wouldn't have cared about otherwise. The first upgrade for Air is 200 scrap metal and I believe the first upgrade for kinesis range is 25 scrap metal. This is worth buying over spending 100-240 gel for a health pack. While you don't want to necessarily chance it on hardcore and let your health get too low, if you are done with a section of enemies with low health and a suit kiosk is nearby, go for an upgrade over burning health pack(s).

Greta tips. Just wanted to give a weapon suggestion that I used to stroll through Hardcore and Pure Survival.

Upper Tool: Telemetry Spike with Diffraction Torus (Chain Gun)
Lower Tool: Plasma Core with Default Tip (Force Gun)
Attachment 2: Ammo Box

This gun is silly. The Chain Gun has a HUGE Clip and Ammo box gives a free (instant) reload, doubling this already huge clip. With some clip circuits, you can get well over 100 in the clip, which means you can spray practically forever. And it has great stopping power for charging enemies.

The Force Gun is for crowds or single enemies that are getting too close. It knocks them back and onto their ass, stunning them briefly.

This combination made even the most overwhelming parts of the game easy.

For gun #2, I suggest the same setup, only with Military Engine/Precision tip in the upper tool. When upgraded, it will 1-shot ranged guys (like Unitologist soldiers and Lurkers). Also great for big tentacle targets.

Just be careful of Seeker enemies- the Chain Gun will not stop their charge- force gun them, then kill them with chain gun.

Hello everyone

UPDATE 1 - It seems that the Games on Demand version of the game makes this method not possible according to the comments. Since this game is part of GwG, be cautious that this method may not work

I thought i would create a guide for this achievement that takes into account every single persons solution. This is my attempt to create a guide for people getting the achievement after the current patches and Awakened DLC and potentially using the Devils Horns in hardcore so lets begin.

Hardcore mode in this game is very different to hardcore mode in Dead Space 2 because in this game a death will wipe your save completely while in Dead Space 2 you had 3 saves. The big trick in making hardcore mode a joke relates to the use of a external hard drive or thumb drive to back up your save. At any point during your hardcore run you can save and quit and copy over your save to a secondary memory unit. It is highly recommended to save at the beginning of each chapter as you never know what might happen. I died multiple times in my run just by glitchin through the floor and dying.

I DID MY RUN IN WITH THE DEVILS HORNS EVEN AFTER COMPLETING THE AWAKENED DLC some people have been saying that the patch associated with the installation of Awakened DLC removes any chance of using the devils horns in Pure Survival and Hardcore and this is FALSE! . I did my run on Hardcore with the Devils Horns after playing the Awakened DLC and this is how i did it by following these steps:

1. Delete the Awakened DLC from your xbox hard drive
2. Completely clear your system cache (go to hard drive and press y to bring up device options and clear system cache)
3. Move (not copy!) any save files you have in your Dead Space 3 folder to your external hard drive to ensure a clean save (i tried it without this step and it wont recognize my hardcore save when i played offline)
**any rewards you earned from from clearing classic or pure survival will still appear even though those save files do not exist on your xbox hard drive
4. start game up and decline the update
5. Run through the game offline on casual with the devils horns (it took me 4 hrs to run through the game)
6. After clearing the game, start a hardcore save in new game+. (you will know it worked when it gives you the popup that you have the devils horns available to you at the Ronaoke)
7. Get to chapter 3 to get your first opportunity to get to a bench
8. Beat hardcore in offline mode as reinstalling the patches will prevent the hardcore save from showing up so do it offline

It took me a total of 4:53 minutes to clear the game in hardcore using the devils horns.

It is highly recommended that you save this difficulty for last as the rewards from pure survival (as resources content pack that contains over 1000 somatic gel and around 300 of the other resources) makes upgrading your rig early on a possibility. I personally had fully upgraded health bar and 3/5 armour upgrades by the end of chapter 3.

I hope that this guide can prove a cumulative approach to this achievement and can be used by everyone. If you have any questions just leave a comment below and i will answer immediately as i would love to help.

Happy hunting gamers!

While not an actual guide, this glitch warrants mentioning and does work on the Xbox 360 version.

At any point in Dead Space 3, you can set a scavenger bot down on a high yield resource gathering point. Save and Quit, then run right back to the exact same high yield resource gathering point and set another scavenger bot down for additional high resource gathering!

With infinite resources, create dozens of large health packs, stasis modules, and ammo stacks to boost your advantage over those frostbitten necromorphs.

In addition to this bug, at the end of Chapter 8, there's a special door that has its own glitch. No need to sit around for 10 minutes waiting for your bots to work. Follow the video* below to find this special door that always generates a random item every time the door closes.

You can also come back to this same door at the end of Chapter 9 after you fix your RIG and no longer have to worry about the cold temperatures.

Exploiting this glitch can make completing the game with one life much easier, but note that enemies also respawn, so stay well-stocked.

Not a actual solution, but a great tip if you want the easiest playthrough possible: do Pure Survival (PS) before Hardcore mode.

The rewards you receive from beating PS DO carry over to Hardcore mode unlike Classic modes reward. If you do not know what you get from PS, you basically get a instant boost to all of your resources in various numbers (I got around 350 or so Tungsten, but over 1k gel) and Mk II version of practically every part in the game.

So as soon as you get to the Roanoke you can build pretty much anything instead of having to wait to get the parts available. This obviously is a massive benefit, not only because it makes the beginning of the game very easy, but also because the Mk II parts are all around great and you don't need to get Ration Seals to get them.

With all of those parts, you shouldn't have much difficulty at all and the only thing to truly worry about is the segments of the game where you can get instant killed.

Hello

I recently got the achievement so I decided to post my strategy

A few items to be tackled before I start:

• I played the Gamespass version, thus no USB stick method
• You can do his achievement via co-op
• Coop revive on this mode is DISABLED
• If you are the host, you can start doing the achievement coop, and the continue solo if your partner drops
• From your RIG, only upgrade: Health, Armor and Stasis
• I suggest completing the Pure survivalist mode before, since this one will provide an initial boost of materials
• I also suggest you get Mass Effect 3 before you start (Available on Gamepass), start a game and save it, this will unlock a suit for DS3
• Do not do any optional mission
• Make use to deploy the Scavenger bot, whenever you have the chance
• Always keep a good amount of health and ammo
• I bought the following DLC: Witness the Truth Pack & Bot Capacity Upgrade

Here is my basic strategy tips:

• Take your time
• Do not let your health to become yellow or below
• If you feel that you had a bad fight, or if get overwhelmed by enemies, just leave the game and enter again
• Use a YouTube video to help you with the easy kill sections on the game

Level tips:

Prologue: N/A

Chapter 1: You will get a lot of items, more than the ones you can pick up, make sure to keep the medium health packs instead of the small ones, also be careful with the QuickTime event (Press A) at the end of the level

Chapter 2: Be careful with the last section of the level, since you will be flying through space: take tour time, do not use boost and use a video as a reference so you can avoid the obstacles

Chapter 3: As soon as you reach the bench make sure to equip or create the best weapon available

Chapter 4: As soon as you reach the Suit kiosk, equip any other suit, this will unlock the maximum item capacity. Do not boost on the fan section, take your time. When you reach out the transport go to the Brusilov since, there will be a room with some helpful resources

Chapter 5: Make sure to stasis + break legs of the regenerator every time you fight it

Chapter 6: Go to the Mid section and take the items of the room located at the left before you continue with the main path. Be careful with the fire sections. If you shoot the regenerators and their legs do not break, just statis them and run

Chapter 7: N/A

Chapter 8: N/A

Chapter 9: I suggest creating any type of force gun as your secondary weapon, since this will be handy with the Feeders (Skinny enemies). Also make sure you have statis packs for your fight with The Snow Beast, since his push can be repeated so fast that you can easily die

Chapter 10: for your fight with the drill: shoot it as soon as possible (Yellow thing in the middle) and avoid being touched by it (Instant kill)

Chapter 11: Watch your back when you are fighting the Stalkers (Running things) since they can attack you from behind sometimes. Also make sure you have stasis pack for your second fight with The Snow Beast, since his push can be repeated so fast that you can easily die. Keep good ammo and health for your trip to the interior of the Nexus

Chapter 12: make sure to avoid the punches from the Nexus and also make sure to shoot the 4 yellow things on its mouth

Chapter 13: make sure you have statis pack for your final fight with The Snow Beast, since his push can be repeated so fast that you can easily die. Use any video to get help with the climbing sections, since these are one-hit kills

Chapter 14: make sure top destroy the Cyst (Enemies on the wall) every time you see them. Also be careful with the laser section, take your time

Chapter 15: Do not touch the fire, upgrade your Kinesis so you can pick up and throw back the missiles you will get shoot from 2 corners, also keep health at 100%. Watch your back when you are fighting the Stalkers (Running things) since they can attack you from behind sometimes

Chapter 16: make sure to kill Crawlers (exploding babies) from a good distance. Also kill the soldier on the climbing down sections, as soon as possible

Chapter 17: make sure so dodge and stasis the Alien Necromorphs, since they can easily kill you. Take your time with the flying section, do not use boost

Chapter 18: take your time with the flying section, do not use boost. make sure top destroy the Cyst (Enemies on the wall) every time you see them. Also be careful with the climbing section, keep a good amount of stasis packs. make sure so dodge and stasis the Alien Necromorphs, since they can easily kill you

Chapter 19: I highly suggest using a video for this mission, since there are many easy deaths. take your time with the flying section, do not use boost, move fast on this level, sin the level itself can kill you, when you reach the Bench and Kiosk, make sure to have you bets gear / weapon and items, since after that the final battle will begin. For the final battle do not leave the platform, since going to far from it will automatically kill you

After completing the last level, wait for the achievement to pop after the last cinematic

And that’s it! You are ready for the Remake and /or Spiritual Sequel

Hardcore mode is unlocked after completing the game once on any difficulty. The difficulty is set to Hard, and players who die will be sent back to the beginning of the game. Apart from bonus rewards, DLCs, and the Dead Space Legends suit, nothing else carries over and you'll start the game from scratch. If you are using the Devil's Horn exploit, the game should be a walk in the park for you - see Epic Tier 4 Engineer trophy for details.

The game will autosave periodically and players who need a break may save and quit, then resume the game from their last save, provided they did not die. The game will automatically wipe your progress upon detecting that the player has died, and you'll have to restart at the beginning of the game. If you are playing in Co-op with the Partner Revive option turned ON, you or your partner will have a short window of time to revive the other if he/she is down. If your partner dies for whatever reason while you are still alive, his progress will be wiped cleaned but your progress will not be affected, and vice versa.

With the implementation of autosaves, coupled with the fact that the save files are not locked, this allows you to manually backup your save files to a USB drives and restore them to your PS3 in the event you die. As long as you make it a habit of backing up your save files frequently, you will lose little progress even if you die or encounter glitches.

1. Plug in a USB drive into your PS3. It must be FAT32 formatted, not NTFS - use any PC to format it.
2. On the XMB, select Saved Data Utility
3. Locate your Dead Space 3 Hardcore save file, press and select copy to USB drive.

Knowledge and experience of the game plays a crucial part in ensuring your survival. Knowing where enemies spawn, how many of them, and how to deal with them tips the odds heavily in your favor. It is not necessary to complete any Optional or Co-op Missions unless you desire a certain weapon part from that particular mission. It is best to save time and avoid these altogether.

If you are not adversed to utilizing exploits, the Devil's Horn exploit and the Invisible Door/Elevator Barrier trick and you will find the game a walk in the park. Details of these exploits and other survival tips can be found in the Hardcore Guide.

What weapon you use is up to you, but here are my preferences. I place emphasis on keeping my enemies at bay using High Fire Rate weapons with Stasis Coated bullets attachment, and a Rocket Launcher just for emergencies. Combining these weapons with my Stasis Module gives me time to aim for dismembering limbs.

Weapon 1: Evangelizer (From Limited Edition Online Pass bonus)
Frame: Heavy Elite Frame
Upper Tool: Military Engine
Upper Tip: Evangelizer Directed Ejection Field
Lower Tool: Military Engine
Lower Tip: Evangelizer Conic Dispersal
Attachments: Stasis Amplifier, Stasis Coating
Circuits: Emphasis on Damage, Fire Rate then Clip Size and Reload

Weapon 2: Bullpup Rifle + Rocket Launcher (Self-Crafted)
Frame: Heavy Elite Frame
Upper Tool: Military Engine
Upper Tip: Rail Accelerator or Repeater
Lower Tool: Survey Charge
Lower Tip: Directed Suspension Field
Attachments: Safety Guard, Stasis Coating
Circuits: Emphasis on Damage, Fire Rate, then Clip Size or Reload Speed

The advice does not claim to be original, but if someone hasn’t guessed it and can’t get through it without some tricks, then you can use one interesting method. The trick of hardcore is that you can’t die at all, otherwise you start the game again, but what’s interesting is that you can exit it and save, and then continue further. So, this is the point, after the first passage, I think you have noted the most difficult places for yourself, just before this difficult place we save and exit. We take a flash drive, format it in the box for a memory card and copy the hardcore save onto it, then go into the game and continue playing, if you suddenly kill it - no problem, exit, replace the save with the one from the flash drive and go through again, the main thing is not to forget to save .
There is also a funny thing in the game with resources, there are many places where resources appear endlessly, you just need to move away a little and come back, here is one of such places https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oty1...yer_detailpage
All this is, of course, a mess, but it’s still better than starting the game from scratch for the 50th time, especially if in chapter 18 you were stupidly killed.

You can ALSO play in co-op with the same trick with a flash drive and saves, but with a trusted partner.

And it’s not particularly difficult to play like this, I personally only died in chapter 13, when you need flattery over a rock, a bit of a glitch place. In general, play carefully.

in chapter 13, where there is a climb up the rock, you need to stock up on stasis and by this moment its duration should be pumped up to the maximum, since there are 2 rocks and an elevator cage where there is a jamb with jumping over

Why go to chapter 8, the same can be done in chapter 1, in Isaac’s hut, there is a spray on his bunk, we take it and go out, things on the bed will appear every time the door is opened. The main thing is that the doors close all the way, you don’t need to run to the bed for every thing, they accumulate on the bed, in general, open the door, close it and until you feel like a cosmic Batman.

Today, several years later, I completed the passage on hardcore and survival! The cheat run with the glove is still relevant today, we go through the game on the classics, get horns, remove the patches, turn off the Internet, go into the game, enjoy!

In the game I encountered a very unpleasant bug several times at the very end of the game, when after flying to the final boss and landing on the platform where the final battle takes place, this very platform, after Isaac gets up from his knees and begins to say his line, simply disappears and Isaac falls down and dies. At other difficulty levels, this bug goes away by itself, since after death the hero respawns immediately on the platform, but on Hardcore this will not work, because death means passing from the very beginning of the game. If you also experience this glitch, you need to have time to press pause in the same split second when the platform disappears from under your feet, but before the falling animation begins. If you have time, wait a few seconds until the platform appears in the background again and exit the pause menu. Isaac will stand above the platform, after which a falling animation will occur for a few seconds and then Isaac will again teleport to the platform and the final battle can continue.
