How to unlock the Pure Lunacy achievement in Dead Space 3 - Definitive Guide

Here is a link to a full guide of the Awakening DLC on Pure Survival Mode. It has full commentary and should help anyone having problems with this supposedly "disturbing" piece of downloadable content.

If you have already beaten the game on Survival you can load up that save and play Awakened. All items/resources/weapons that you have carry over. I recommend y'all to play on this mode for your first playthrough, plenty of benches in the DLC and if you were like me and had a plethora of resources/items from your Survival playthrough then it's a piece of cake. Was able to get all the DLC cheevos during my first playthrough except for Supercharged. ( i do not take credit for this i found this and thought i would post it on here for others) credit goes to Jack Napier on xbox360achievements.

They do, if you used them in your Pure Survival run. Just load up your Pure Survival save and play the DLC from there.

That's the point. If you used them on your Pure Survival run they will be available for the DLC. But guys like me did the PS run without them, ergo no Devil Horns Glitch possible. Tried everything, YES EVEN WITHOUT PATCH etc. Anywayz, should be a piece of cake even without them!

If you haven't unlocked pure survival and you play through the DLC with someone who has, do you know if you will still get this achievement?

If you have a Pure Survival save then load it up and find the DLC mission via chapter select after the final main game mission. If you have beaten the main game but don’t have a Pure Survival save you can just create a save but if you haven’t then you will have to beat the main game to unlock Pure Survival. If you have the Devil Horns then the DLC will become much easier. If you wish to be able to use the Devil Horns in the DLC please refer to the Hardcore Encyclopaedia.

It is beneficial to load up a save on Pure Survival that you have completed the main game with since all your weapons and upgrades will transfer over making it much easier. This difficulty shouldn't cause too much hassle if you play it slow and safe. You should get this trophy upon completing the DLC.

I recommend going through this mode right away in order to collect all the trophies in one playthrough.

If difficulties arise, take the Gauntlet (the most powerful weapon in the game), which can be obtained by completing Dead Space 3 in Classic mode.

The patch can be bypassed. I'm telling you. In short (reject all offers to install the patch):

- there is an original Dead space 3 limited edition disc (if the game was downloaded from the store, I don’t know, maybe it’s already been treated with a patch by default and nothing will work).
- You need to purchase the DLC itself from the game lobby, because... You can’t buy it in the store, it’s stupidly not there
- we bought everything, everything was loaded - no good. Now go to the menu of your PS and go to “game data management utility”
- delete the Dead space file (it weighs about 1.5 GB, the patch itself will die along with it)
- then go to the PS store and look at your downloads (you won’t be able to load from the game lobby without a patch)
- find DLS Awakened among them and install
- now launch the game, select your most brutal save with a ton of playthroughs and click NEW GAME +
- go to survival mode and overwrite an unnecessary save (or create a new one)
- if you went through everything correctly, you will receive bonuses (among them there will be DEVIL HORNS)
- now go to the downloadable materials and create a PATCH on top of all this stuff.

PS: It is very important that the patch be put in the last queue, after you are credited with nishtyaks in the repository for your desperate attempts.

You won't be able to take a glove with a patch. It will make it a little easier to farm resources at the very beginning of the game, after you split up with Carver. We collect boxes, farm on the machine, then save and exit. Subsequently, we load the last save, everything that was farmed on the machine remained in the backpack + new boxes with resources appeared.

If you have saves from the Survival mode, then you can launch the first chapter of the add-on by selecting chapters and it will start with the Survival mode.
