How to unlock the Space Ace achievement in Dead Space 3 - Definitive Guide
Space Ace (Secret)
Shoot at least 70 targets during the ride to Tau Volantis.
The opportunity for this achievement is at the end of Chapter 7. You will begin to fly the ship through space, and will be shooting targets during the flight.
For this achievement it is highly recommended that you do this in co-op. This achievement is very easy in co-op because you only have to either control or shoot, instead of both. Also, the main benefit is that during the predefined sequence where the ship needs a repair, 1 of you will still be able to shoot targets while the other repairs the ship, allowing you to easily get an extra 10-20 targets than solo. The achievement unlocks for both players as soon as you reach 70 total targets.
Keep in mind that you are able to "Restart Checkpoint" if you miss a lot of targets and are not comfortable continuing. Just make sure to restart the checkpoint sooner than later to give you a better chance.
Lastly, if you feel like you want to do this solo, it is hard, but still possible. First off, you'll want to get on the ship in Chapter 7, now "Save & Quit", and go back to the dashboard. Make a copy of your save onto the USB, and then start the game again using your harddrive save. This is useful because if you fail, you can back out and swap the USB save onto your harddrive faster than having to replay the entire 15 minute chapter. During the actual flight, you have very little room for error, maybe missing a total of 5 or so targets. If you miss anything, feel free to restart the checkpoint before it autosaves. If you are able to pull it off, you'll unlock the achievement during the section with the snow and rocks, as you get to the magical 70 targets.

Just a note for doing this solo. Make sure you're flying at the bottom of the flight path squares. Last two times I did this I missed targets because they were below my view of the debris.

Got this one last night. I agree - HIGHLY recommended you do it co-op, as Carver can continue to shoot while Isaac repairs the ship. I stood by the canisters until the achievement popped, then did the repairs and continued the mission.

Michael and Jack show you how to get the "Space Ace" Achievement in Dead Space 3 for the Xbox 360. Pew pew!
there's only 71 objects and you need shoot down 70 objects to get the achievement.
(before you give me a "thumbs down" on this or any other solution. Tell what I can do to fix it)
Hey everyone, just a quick video showing how best to get this one. Co-op is the way to go when getting it, but honestly solo isn't as bad as it sounds. Hope the video helps!
In Chapter 7, you’ll be tasked with making various repairs to a ship. Once you’ve done all that, you’ll be piloting the ship down towards the planet. Obstacles will appear in your path with red borders. Move your target reticule over them and they’ll turn orange, and the ship’s weapons will lock onto it. You do not need to hold the target over the object. Press to fire homing missiles. To reach the goal of 70, you’ll need to destroy practically every object you see. The trophy will unlock once you’ve destroyed the last few frozen ledges on the planet. Video by Powerpyx.

If you have any difficulties with this, as it turned out to be a simple trophy, here’s an interesting point - the flight is divided into 3 stages with autosave :
Here's an example: let's say in the 1st stage you shot down 99% of the targets, and the 2nd stage didn't work out - click [start] and "Checkpoint" . In this case, NOT THE START OF FLIGHT , but the beginning of the 2nd stage will be loaded. And it works the same way with the other stages, i.e. If something doesn’t work out, you don’t have to go through the whole flight again . I just received this trophy with the loading of stage checkpoints.
Important point: if you have not received the trophy within 3 seconds after crashing into the last snowy rock (at this moment the shooting crosshair disappears), press [start] and “Save and Exit”. Load the last checkpoint and repeat the above.
PS I thought I would suffer for a long time with this trophy (like with “Don’t get cocky, kid” in the first Dead Space). But I got it on the third try when replaying it in Classic mode.
- Stage 1. The flight is slow, there are few targets, at the end of the stage about 10 targets appear simultaneously.
- Stage 2. The flight is fast, in the middle of the flight you need to work with kinesis in the transport cabin, there are a lot of targets, but 3-4 at most appear, quickly replacing each other.
- Stage 3. Shooting snow rocks.
Here's an example: let's say in the 1st stage you shot down 99% of the targets, and the 2nd stage didn't work out - click [start] and "Checkpoint" . I got the trophy in a co-op while sitting at the helm, while my partner was in the wild.

There is no need to shoot the target when it turns orange. For example, at the beginning there are three targets, move the cursor over them, they turn orange, one shot and all three targets are shot down! That is, you do not need to hit the shoot key if the target is orange. In short, 10 targets can be knock them down with two or three shots, the main thing is to mark them.
