Kill 30 enemies with the Line Gun.

How to unlock the Eviscerator achievement in Dead Space - Definitive Guide

I'm leaving a short video showing the path I take to arrive at my grinding spot for the easy kills, but I recommend at least reading the list below to get an idea on how to prepare and where/when to find this spot.

There is nothing I love more than running through one of my all-time favourite games using one gun; the Plasma Cutter.

However, that creates a problem when there are several achievements for attaining 30 kills using every other weapon available to you, including the topic of this particular achievement the Line Gun. Not that they aren't fun to use, it's just a matter of pride for old fans(and another somewhat rare achievement!). I have found the easiest way to obtain every '30 kills with weapon' achievement in the game, beyond just normally using them throughout the campaign.

I didn't bother with grinding the kills out until after I finished my initial For Fun run, so I utilized the game's New Game+ mode that carries over your full arsenal of weapons and upgrades. What I did was I continued the story through NG until I reached Chapter 5, where the story takes you back to the Medical Deck to track down the source of a mysterious signal. On the way through the hub area of Medical, you will have a save point and a shop right before the best place to farm for your kills. I highly recommend saving a fair chunk of credits so you can purchase ammo when you arrive. I'll put together a short list of what to do in prep for the grind sequence.

  1. Save the game. Seems obvious, but do this before buying anything.
  2. If you don't have a ton of money to play with you would be better served buying ammo for a single gun at a time so you can reload the save and purchase ammo for your next grind.
  3. Follow the story trail down the west hallway exit from the hub, and fight until you come across the first Wall Guardian encounter in the game. The gross wailing tentacle guy on the wall in the x-ray imaging room right next to the elevator platform.
Once you reach this point, as long as you have cleared any other enemies out beforehand, you can now stand near the Guardian enemy and DO NOT DIRECTLY ATTACK IT. Our target here is instead the tiny tentacle babies it pops out onto the floor that attack you with projectiles. Killing these counts as killing any other enemy type, so you can relatively safely farm them one after another and get your 30 kills quickly and because they are so weak and don't move around, be very efficient with your ammo reserves. If you are working on one gun at a time, just reload your save and start over from the top with the new weapon.

Aim for the shoulders and it should just about kill every small monster in 1 hit. Keep only one weapon in your weapon slots meaning you can hold lots of ammo.

The Line Gun is fantastic at lopping the legs off of your average necromorph, but because its ammunition can be hard to come by, and it’s best combined with other weapons, you won’t always get 30 finishing blows with the Line Gun in one playthrough.

The best method to get this is to use a weapon like the Plasma Cutter or Pulse Rifle to sever a necromorphs arms, before using the line gun to take out both of its legs at once, quickly killing it.

Like all of the “Kill 30 enemies” achievements, this can be farmed once you reach a Guardian enemy. These wall-mounted foes spit out smaller enemies that can be killed quickly and easily, so you can keep the Guardian alive and use your chosen weapon to kill the little tentacle blobs that it spawns. But given the rarity of Line Gun ammunition, this might not be the most efficient way to get the achievement.

A final option is to start a New Game+ on Story difficulty, starting from the beginning with all weapons available to you, and easily killing any enemies you come across with your weapon of choice to mop up the achievements.

The Line Gun is very good at taking down multiple opponents with it's wide-blade shot. Aim for legs or arms for the best effectiveness.
DLC weapons do not positively or negatively affect weapon kill trophies in any way.

A laser rifle, or essentially a plasma cutter with a wider area of effect, is a good weapon, quite powerful, ideal for lurkers (in case they are on the floor or ceiling, but not on walls, because the laser rifle cannot change the cutting position from horizontal to vertical) - wait for them to open their tentacles and shoot at their base, where they are closest to each other (because they diverge upward). In the initial stages it can be used as a weapon of mass destruction. By pumping, you can increase the affected area.

If you use this weapon for lurkers alone, you will definitely get a trophy during the game. Using this weapon against Flesh Tearers can result in a waste of charges, because depending on the position of the hands, it is sometimes difficult to hit them with only a horizontal cut.

My favorite mode in this weapon is mines. Even on Impossible they deal a lot of damage. We throw stasis, 2 mines at the feet of a strong enemy or into the crowd and escape so that we ourselves are not hit by the blast wave.
It’s a pity to waste charges on the main fire mode and I began to use it only against “fat people” (it’s convenient to shoot at the legs) or when in the heat of battle there is no time to reload another weapon. I got used to taking out Lurkers with grenades from a power pistol. So stasis, mine and more mine!
But if you need to cut off limbs for a trophy, then you need to use the main mode.
