Story related, cannot be missed.

You encounter the Leviathan Remnant at the end of Chapter 8: Search and Rescue, where you try to call for help.

This fight takes place outside the USG Ishimura, therefore you must be mindful of your oxygen. There are (by my count), 4 oxygen refuelling tanks, 2 at either end of the of the battle zone, and 2 at the door you enter on. Personal ammo is not key to this fight, but you will need some.

The battle requires you to kill the Leviathan Remnant, a piece of the one you killed in Chapter 6. This battle is harder than that though. You must attack 3 highlighted, fleshy weak spots using the 3 ADS cannons and then finish it with your personal weapon when they destroyed.

As soon as you enter the exterior of the ship, head to the first ADS Cannon located just off to your right. Calibrate with it and shoot at the weak spot until it bursts. The Leviathan will attempt to strike you with its tentacles the same way it did first time around. Keep strafing from side to side to avoid its attacks.

After that cannon has been destroyed, head to the left, picking up O2 by the door you entered from if you need it, (although not essential, as there is another O2 refuel at the next cannon). On your way there, it will try to swipe at you; avoid the attack by strafing up or down using your gravity boots. Once there, the cannon will be covered with flesh; shoot the weak spot to gain access to the cannon.

Same again, calibrate the cannon and shoot the weak spot but this time, the Leviathan will also be shooting puke bombs at you. You can strafe side to side to avoid them.

2 fleshy wounds later and you’re heading to the next ADS Cannon on the far right side. There is an O2 refuel where you are leaving, 2 on the door you entered from and one when you arrive at the next cannon (this one is covered with flesh; shoot the weak spot to reveal the refuel canister). This time the Leviathan will spit out mines to block your way and still try to swipe at you. Shoot any mines in your way and avoid its swipes, but try not to waste ammo on these.

Once at the last cannon, you need to shoot out the weak spot but it will be trying to strike you with its tentacles and be spitting bombs at you, whilst being mindful of remaining mines around you. Try to destroy its weak spot quickly.

All the remaining mines will self-destruct and only cause your harm if you are right beside one. A final weak spot will be highlighted for you to destroy, but this can be done with most weapons. I am passionate about the Plasma Cutter, great all-rounder and again, probably best suited for the task, but any long ranged tool would do it (Line Gun, Pulse Rifle, etc.).

Use the 3 ADS systems to take out the Leviathan Remnant at the end of Chapter 8. Activate each console, aim at the weak point with and fire with . Once the weak point and ADS consoles are destroyed, move on to the next one. The Leviathan Remnant will add new attacks with each ADS. First, it will launch tentacles at you. Then, it will spit explosives. On the way to the last ADS, it will cover the area with proximity mines. The final ADS will likely be destroyed before killing the Remnant. Switch tactics and return the explosives back to the Leviathan Remnant. Once the third weak point is destroyed, the achievement will unlock.

The Leviathan Remnant is the boss in Chapter 8: Search and Rescue. The strategy for this fight is to use the ADS cannons to attack the boss's yellow weak points. This fight takes place outside the ship so you'll have to watch your air the whole time, but there are O2 stations near each cannon.

This boss fight has 3 phases and will attack you in between phases. Between 1 & 2 there's a sweeping attack with a tentacle. Go high to dodge this. Between 2 & 3 the boss deploys mines that you can shoot to destroy if needed.

• Phase 1: Dodge the tentacles when they try to hit you and shoot the yellow target on the boss.
• Phase 2: Dodge the yellow pods the Leviathan shoots at you and shoot the yellow target on the boss.
• Phase 3: You'll now be dodging the tentacles and pods and avoiding any mines near you. Again, shoot the yellow target. About halfway through the last target a tentacle will destroy your cannon. Start catching the pods and throwing them to do damage until the fight is through.
