How to unlock the Epic Tier 3 Engineer achievement in Dead Space - Definitive Guide

Beat the game on any difficulty and you will unlock 'impossible' mode. You must beat it on impossible to receive this achievement. Like the name implies it is very hard. Always make use of every possible item you find. If you can't carry anymore, head back to the bank to make a spot for it, do not waste med packs. Sell air canisters, upgrade only what you need i.e. suit HP, air, and the only gun you use. Save as often as possible. Conserve as much ammo as possible - try shooting out the legs and crushing their heads with your foot to save ammo. Use Stasis and the Stasis cheat, unless you don't want to cheat. It's up to you. It does not effect achievements - cheats are in the FAQ.

Note: You will unlock impossible mode if you beat easy, as soon as you start the game on impossible, save it otherwise it will disappear and you will need to beat the game on another difficulty to unlock it again.

This is one of the harder trophies in the game. To unlock the trophy you must complete the game on 'Impossible'. Impossible is unlocked once you beat the game. On 'Impossible" enemies are tougher and items are few. The most important thing to remember during your "Impossible" playthrough is to keep your cool, especially when things become intense. Take things carefully and be aware of your surrounds such as vents and other places that Necromorphs can come from and you'll make it through.

Impossible Difficulty Tips:
  • Conserve your ammo, it's important to make every shot count.
  • Don't let yourself get surrounded. If you feel you are being overrun, quickly move to a hallway so you can deal with each enemy 1 by 1.
  • Use Stasis. Stasis is very useful especially when dealing with tougher enemies, don't be afraid to use it.
  • Sell everything that you don't need such as Air Cans or ammo for a weapon you aren't going to use.
  • Rotate between at least 3 different save files. You never know if a save will corrupt or if you will need to load a previous save because you don't have enough ammo to deal with the current situation.

Once you beat the game on any difficulty level, the game's "impossible" difficulty level will unlock. Its name very clearly reflects the essence of this difficulty level; it is indeed very difficult to play. You must beat the game on this difficulty level to unlock this trophy. When playing on it, never throw away items, always either use them or put them in a safe for future use, this especially applies to first aid kits. Sell canisters with air, they are of little use, improve IE, lives and air, as well as just the weapons you use. Save as often as possible. Save ammo, try to shoot off the legs first, and then crush the enemy with your legs. If this does not contradict your inner beliefs, use codes to replenish stasis energy; they do not disable trophies. And kill enemies using stasis, it makes the game much easier.
The "impossible" mode becomes available after beating the game, but it will disappear after rebooting the console. Create a new game and save so you don't lose it, if you haven't done this, don't worry, just load the save you used to beat the game and the mode will open again to create a new game.

In addition to the above. While you reach chapter 11, in the process of passing, destroy the corpses that you encounter. Excellent savings in ammunition when going through these sections again, there will be no one to infect. And collect stasis for subsequent sale, use the code.

Some tips, or how I did it. I only used the Plasma Cutter, this saved me from problems with cartridges and provided me with money (after all, I sold everything except first aid kits and the ammunition I needed). The first thing you need to do is pump up your stasis! This way you will be in control of the situation on the battlefield. I conduct the battle itself in two ways: first (if there are no more than two enemies), I shoot off the leg, freeze it and finish it off in hand-to-hand combat (saving ammo). Second (if there are a lot of enemies), I freeze everyone and shoot off each leg, then both arms at once with a couple of shots (this can be done at the moment when the necromorph began to fall and his arms rose up, at this moment the arms can be cut off at the same time - again saving ammunition). Be sure to trample the corpses so that the infector cannot use them. For me, my most dangerous enemies were: children (due to the fact that they shoot from the ceiling and walls, and constantly run) and two-armed jumpers with a tail (these never stand still and attack very unexpectedly). Everyone else is only dangerous in a crowd.

Copying an item with 10,000 credits in the second chapter didn't help much.

On the second attempt I managed to make 20 copies. Then he disappeared. On the first try, he disappeared on the 9th run.

I didn't have any problems getting through it. Used Tank Pack. As for weapons, I successfully sold a plasma cutter and a pulse rifle, ammunition for other weapons, bought only for the cutter, and periodically bought power units. First of all, I upgraded the X, then the plasma cutter. There are enough first aid kits dropped during the passage, so there was no need to buy them. On the Leviothan he used a pulse rifle. By the final battle there were 15 large first aid kits, 110,000 credits. The last boss falls without any problems from a pumped up plasma cutter.

There is an interesting glitch - if you bought any pack on PSN, you take your weapon and go into battle. As soon as the ammunition comes to an end - return to the store (without reloading, if the situation allows) - sell this weapon for 0 rubles and immediately buy it for the same 0 rubles - voila - the clip is full, more cartridges due to the fact that you did not reload (extra you can put it in a safe), all the improvements are in place! This way there will be no problems with the cartridges at all - I personally exchanged half for power units!!!

I got a glitch to get a high level costume at the beginning of my playthrough on Impossible. One passage and a purchased level 5 costume is enough, or two passages on the same difficulty (level 6 costume).
This glitch manifested itself in the following way:
We play from chapter 11 until the end of the passage. You can scroll through the credits and save. We immediately start a new game at the desired difficulty.

What was described above that complexity does not affect is fundamentally wrong. On hard I couldn’t achieve the same results as on easy difficulty, but I didn’t check on medium. On hard difficulty there are more meteorites, flying from both sides with different accelerations. A few hours difference makes a big difference. I trained on hard difficulty, but I realized that I couldn’t make it, so I decided to get to this point on easy, and I knocked it out on the first try. I apologize for writing the hint for the wrong trophy. Trophy "Don't relax, guy." Then I knocked it out on hard on the first try, so sorry. I can't find how to remove the hint.

Tank suit (gives 3 weapons + maximum backpack capacity + 60% armor ) and there is no need to carry a bunch of first aid kits. The trick with the Peng figurine described in the tip Maxed Out / Maximum (necessary!!! By lvl 11 my reserves of resources and money were exhausted, and there are a lot of necromorphs in 11 and 12 without the trick it would have been much more difficult, and with it, having earned 900,000 credits, I improved everything to the maximum, did not spare ammo at ALL and of course the CODES described above . This will be enough to pass at an UNREAL level WITHOUT loss (patience). , NERVES, interest) and of course lives.
And also, if anyone is interested in taking out the last Boss with a very easily upgraded rifle. In the last room before the boss you take several first aid kits, I had 3 of them, I didn’t spend a single one. The rest is rifle cartridges. I failed it the first time without losing any lives. TANK SUIT is simply Super.

I completed the “Unreal” level in only the 4th suit and with one cutter (without buying gear on PSN) the main goal was to upgrade the regular cutter (completely), the suit (completely), and everything else for bullets for the cutter and first aid kit. here is the easiest way. There is no need to be especially afraid of this level because... the only problems are only in those places where there are a lot of enemies (which is no secret) You know about such monsters that jump on corpses and revive them, so, to avoid this, just trample the corpses in advance (this saved me, specifically) (my time for completing "Unreal" level 5 hours). And also, where there is an opportunity to run away from a fight, do it without hesitation.
