How to unlock the Front Toward Enemy achievement in Dead Space - Definitive Guide
The Shooting Range is located on the USM Valor during Chapter 9: Dead on Arrival. I would recommend you do this on your first or +1 play through because it’s likely to be on medium difficulty. The rewards are good, but I don’t think they would outweigh the cost to finish it on Impossible difficulty.
As you make your way through the destroyed ship, you’ll need to dispose of some high grade ordnance in the Torpedo Bay. After this, you'll move into the Armoury where you’ll be attacked by a couple of Twitchers (the Stasis Necromorphs that run fast).
Once the room is cleared, you will not be attacked again in this area. Rather than taking the door to your left that leads to the Infirmary, go to the door on the far side behind some lockers, from the view of the door you entered from (it’s a relatively small room, you can skirt all the way around and the entrance is marked as “Shooting Range”).
There will be some ammo on the table but choose a weapon you’re comfortable with. Start the simulation by activating the console and holographic outlines will appear; red for enemy and blue for friendly.
Spare your ammo, just try to take out the enemies. Shortly into the simulation, Necromorphs will drop in to say hello.
It’s a mixed bag of enemies, some Twitchers, Lurkers, Slashers, Appendages and maybe an Exploder; a reasonable challenge for a confined space, but easy enough on normal difficulty. Once they are all dismembered, the Shooting Range will call out a system failure error.
Grab the loot from the dead Necromorphs as you would normally but don’t forget to open the 5 cabinets that were locked before the shooting range started, the rewards for your troubles are worth collecting.
Good luck!

ARMORY. There's no "u" in armory. Know your audience when putting your guide together for. It is a nice guide and it's concise and well done, but the "u" in armory ruins it. You got an automatic downvote for that.

The Shooting Range is found in Chapter 9: Dead on Arrival. From the USM Valor's Torpedo Bay, follow the hall through the Armory and to the Shooting Range. Once there, activate the shooting range, but don't attack any targets. After a short wait, the room will lockdown and enemies will attack. Clear the necromorphs and the achievement will pop.

MISSABLE
One of the few truly missable achievements in the Dead Space remake, although, if you’re attempting three full playthroughs, there’s plenty of chances to pick it up. The shooting gallery is found on the USM Valor, during Chapter 9. The reason this achievement is missable is because it's in an area you won’t be able to return to once the chapter closes, but it’s really no bother.
Once on the USM Valor, make sure to dive into the Shooting Range, on the way to the Infirmary. Here, you can start up the shooting range, but you don’t need to take any shots. Instead, after a brief period of time, you’ll be attacked by multiple necromorphs. Simply defeat them all, and you’ll get the achievement, as well as access to all of the previously-locked lockers on the side.
