How to unlock the Live with the Hot Ones achievement in Dead Space - Definitive Guide

Quite easy to get, even with the Flamethrower being the worst gun. You'll unlock the Flamethrower fairly early on, which gives you more time with it before you get better guns. The Swarmers (the tiny necromorphs that latch onto you) count towards the achievement making it a breeze. You can occasionally find a swarm of them randomly, but usually you'll want to shoot the Pregnants in the stomach to drop multiple of them.

If you are a bit like me and prefer playing Dead Space with just one or two weapons, getting 30 kills with each one can seem like a bit of a grind. There are two easy ways to speed up the process though:

- A Swarm is found at various points throughout the game and they can also be triggered by shooting a Pregnant and splitting open its pouch, releasing Swarms. Swarms are clusters of (well, I don’t know) but they try to leech onto your back. Each one is counted as a kill and there tends to be 7-10 at a time. The Force Gun kills them in one and is very efficient at it.

- Tentacles are the Necromorphs that are attached to the wall and spew out an immobile tentacle that will shoot at you. Keep your distance and kill each tentacle it spews out with your desired weapon. It will continue to spew them out until you kill the one on the wall. Stock up with ammo and kill each one until the achievement unlocks, swap weapon or continue on with your playthrough. Tentacles are not good for kills with the Force Gun, as one shot will likely destroy the one on the wall. To avoid this being too much of a grind, carry a couple of weapons with you and then swap them out at the store and move onto the next occasion you run into one.

Please be aware that reloading you save will void your kills. You must continue through the game. Credit to DE4N MUFC for advising.

Good luck!

The Flamethrower is far stronger in the Dead Space remake than it was in the original, and is extremely useful for killing smaller enemies. Make good use of it, and you’ll unlock this achievement automatically on your playthrough.

However, like all of the “Kill 30 enemies” achievements, this can be farmed pretty easily once you reach a Guardian enemy. These wall-mounted foes spit out smaller enemies that can be killed quickly and easily, so you can keep the Guardian alive and use your chosen weapon to kill the little tentacle blobs that it spawns.

Alternatively, you can make sure to shoot any bloated Pregnant necromorphs that you come across in the stomach with your Plasma Cutter or Pulse Rifle, unleashing lots of small Swarmer enemies. Quickly switch to the Flamethrower and use it to kill the Swarmers, quickly racking up kills.

A final option is to start a New Game+ on Story difficulty, starting from the beginning with all weapons available to you, and easily killing any enemies you come across with your weapon of choice to mop up the achievements.

The flamethrower will require a lot of ammo. You will burn through a canister of fuel for one guy. Aim for the arms or legs and make sure to keep plenty of fuel tanks for it.

The Flamethrower is one of the weaker weapons in the game. To get the 30 kills, use Stasis on an enemy and hit it with a stream of fire until it dies.
DLC weapons do not positively or negatively affect weapon kill trophies in any way.

The flamethrower is the worst weapon in the game, and getting 30 kills with it on maximum difficulty was pure hell. No matter how you pump it up, it still takes away little health, and it’s inconvenient to aim at limbs, so I always first weakened the enemy (after all, to count a kill with a certain weapon, the weapon with which the last blow was dealt is counted), and then tried to burn it, aiming if possible flamethrower to a limb. It didn’t always work out successfully - then I loaded it up and tried again, because the fuel for the flamethrower is only consumed on the way, and the efficiency is negligibly low. As a result, I received this trophy only 3 chapters later, after I started working on it, while I pretty much pumped up both the damage and the burning duration, but the main goal of pumping up was the volume of the fuel tank, because fuel is consumed quickly, fuel cylinders It’s not there that often, and I pumped up the volume of the tank so that when pumping, it would be completely filled with fuel.

With all this, the flamethrower has a very short range of action, and monsters (at least on maximum difficulty) are not too deterred by the fact that they are on fire, and they continue to move towards you and can jump, so if possible it is worth freezing opponents for more safe use of weapons, or at least walk around it, forcing it to turn towards you every time, but this will no longer be an effective use of fuel.

Contrary to the usual stereotype from movies about space creatures, there is not a single monster in Dead Space against which it would be effective to use a flamethrower. Even the larvae, it would seem, are directly asking for their flock to be burned, but the range of the flamethrower is too low (you can only burn while standing end-to-end), as is the radius of action, so even if you try to burn the larvae with a flamethrower, you will not be able to engulf everyone in flames at once, and besides, they jump at you at a distance slightly greater than the range of a flamethrower. The ideal weapon against maggots is the power pistol , which covers a wide area and kills them with one shot.

Please note that, for obvious reasons, the flamethrower is the only weapon that does not work in a vacuum.

It is very convenient to exterminate larvae with a flamethrower using an alternative fire mode. They die almost immediately, so this enemy is still the easiest source of frags for the flamethrower.

The end of the 11th chapter is when you, having fought off all the creatures, pull the obelisk into the last airlock.

You have two parallel corridors in the airlock, then at the exit, on the sides of a large round hatch there are two guards who spit small larvae (or whatever they are).

So, we don’t shoot at the guards, but methodically move and destroy the larvae.

You will easily achieve all the trophies associated with the weapon “kill so many creatures with this or that weapon.”

The advantage of this is that there is a save point in this room; it is also there before entering it.

The location usually contains ammunition (for the weapon you use) and a first aid kit,

There is a shop and a workbench nearby in the location.

The only thing BUT, having received a trophy for example for a flamethrower, do not try to buy additional ammunition for another weapon in the store during the game - it never worked out for me, if you get hit, you are thrown out of the store.

Just die, load again (before leaving the room with the guards) and finish off another weapon.

Applicable naturally for easy levels (easy and normal)
