How to unlock the Wishbone achievement in Dead Space - Definitive Guide

Credit to YouTube channel: HarryNinetyFour

Taken from the video description

You can easily do this by grabbing onto one of the suits in the Main Lab area of medical. grab onto a leg of the suit, then "throw" it with kinesis. For some reason this just unlocks the trophy / achievement, and is the easiest way to get it.
I can confirm this works! Just unlocked with no problems at all using this method after trying to do it "legit" for about 30 minutes!

Here to confirm that this indeed works. However, May take a couple tries of “throwing” for it to unlock. Unlocked on the 4th Kinesis grab.

I can also confirm this worked. It's a shame because I'm sure they intended this to be a "quick" way to rip a limb off and use TK more often but it just doesn't seem to work as intended.

For some weir reason the suits are not there for me. Is there another location where they are also, or will i just need to try it again on new game plus?

Those suits are removed from that room after chapter 5 when you revisit medical.

I was able to do it just now in chapter 4 in a small side room during the "reroute power from mining administration" objective. There was the same type of suits in here as well.

Not working but I reloaded to that chapter. Is it patched or do I have to do it in NG+?

You dont even have to go to that specific body. Make your way through medical in Chapter 2 and the first body you see, grab it’s the leg with kinesis and, if it didn't pop straight away, just shoot it with right trigger after you grab it and it’ll pop that way.

The suits shown in the video are not there after Chapter 2. Good for showing the concept, but not a location everyone can use

I am at the end of the game (just before point of no return) and there no suits anywhere in the game. Not sure when the suits from the EVA Response Room disappeared so I guess you have to have read a guide before you started or it's useless

There's an EVA Prep Room with a bunch of dangling uniforms in Chapter 4, just before going outside to fix the ADS Cannon's targeting system. I got the achievement there.

Yes, but at some point between Chapter 4 and the point of no return, they disappear

So odd that after moving on then backtracking these suits are always missing. Wonder if it's a memory constraint within the engine or just a glitch/oversight.

@Maverick Hiro I came across this room last night and remembered there were suits in it before but I put it down to hours have passed in game and some unknown NPCs who had yet to be killed must've taken them then either escaped or were killed along with everyone else. I hadn't considered it a glitch etc until reading your comment but who knows...

I have to admit, I thought it's probably because other survivors got to the suits (and then surely ended up being killed). The game seems to be very solid as far as glitches go and I doubt they had memory issues

Works as of April 29th 2023. Found some suits in the Zero G Therapy Maintenance room in Medical where you find the Hydrazine Tank in Chapter 2.

There are other suits in the game. I found one near the beginning of Chapter 3 in Engineering. It's to the right of the main room, which is labeled the Preparation Room. Got it on the first try.

I'll try and keep an eye out.

If you return to this location later in the game the hanging suits are no longer there. Just an FYI.

There are hanging suits in Chapter 2 when you're going for the hydrazine tank. They're in the room right after the first opportunity to "fly" across the gap. Grabbed a leg just like in the video, it's just in an earlier location than the video. The suits are in the same room as the hydrazine tank.

Suits aren’t hanging there when I went back during Ch.5. But I reloaded a Ch.2 save, and they were there!
I did have to do 4 or 5 grab/throws for it to unlock, but I got it. Great guide!!

There might be something to be said for marking this as "missable". I'm slightly but only slightly exaggerating. Either you read the guide and know to do this on the few suits you encounter, or you almost certainly need a new playthrough to get this unless there happens to be a suit or two somewhere that don't de-spawn later.

Getting them on a monster is next to impossible, and becomes even closer to impossible if your weapons are upgraded.

Can confirm that the suit trick still works as of today. Early on in chapter 2, mission is to get the hydrazine tank. There's a save point right before the Zero-G Therapy area. Do the space walk, get back inside, do the brief flying section (just jumping a gap basically), and the room you enter after the flying part has suits to your right. I grabbed one of the ones on the right, grabbed the leg with Kinesis, and launched it towards the wall, achievement popped immediately.

Actually on chapter 10 currently but I used all 100 save slots so right before I was about to save over a chapter 2 save, I went back and did this and it took longer to find the right save point than it did to get the achievement. Thankfully didn't have to go back with NG+ and get this because I don't really plan on doing a second playthrough.

Managed this in chapter 2 after blowing up the barricade, as you can save afterwards before triggering a necromorph that drops down as you get close to the entrance.

The key to this is to do damage along the limb without hitting the exposed boney parts. Use a pulse rifle (not upgraded) to expose the bone and try to grab it with kinesis when you think you've done enough damage. Ideally find a save point close to a necromorph spawn to cut down attempts and on a regular enemy, not the leaping dogs or the three testicle baby's.

Don't use the plasma cutter as it will sever the limb instead of damaging it!

I haven't hopped onto the remake yet...did they fundamentally change the babies? Because that's a horrifying visual!

Chapter 2

Immediately after your first Zero Gravity section (with all the beds in a circular-ish room) you'll land and end up in a store room of sorts, look to the right and you'll see some suits just hanging there

Simply grab the suit leg with your Kinesis and "throw" (fire) the leg, for some reason this works on the hanging suites

This other solutions and videos are correct about where to shoot, and what to shoot with. Shoulder joint, stock pulse rifle, BUT something that I found was causing me an issue is when I hit the enemy with Stasis (NG+, Fully Upgraded) it damaged it just enough to where the last hit that should put it into the dangling animation was skipped due to too much damage being applied. I tested it by hitting the ground instead of the necromorph directly, as far away as possible but still enough to affect it, and was able to get it into the animation. Also note that for me, there was a specific sound and blood squirted out of the limb I was holding with kenesis when I successfully got it correct. I was on Hard difficulty with a stock pulse rifle. Location was immediately after blowing up the barricade in chapter 2. Before going toward the door, save and farm using reloads.

This guide is for those of us who passed beyond the point where the empty suits from the other solutions stop appearing. After a fair bit of trial and error, I managed to come up with a way that makes this achievement way easier. I've prepared a very short gameplay clip with no preamble that shows exactly how to do it with minimal effort, but first I'll tell you what to prepare ahead of your attempt to make it as smooth as possible.

  1. Save your game and poke around the area until you find a reliable Slasher type enemy spawn. These are the upright humanoid Necromorphs with two claw arms. The spitter variants of these will also work, but we need something bipedal.
  2. Grab the Pulse Rifle weapon, preferably one that is NOT UPGRADED as the weaker it is the more precise in how many shots you need to take for a successful break. You can likely use the Plasma Cutter but make sure it does not have the fire upgrade, as that burns the limb off before you can grab it!
  3. Refill your Stasis(time stop) energy, bring an extra recharge for it if you think you might need it.

Now, as you'll see in the clip here what I did was I used Stasis and froze an enemy Slasher, then I quickly moved behind it and opened fire with my Pulse Rifle. The difficulty you are on and how upgraded your rifle is determines how many shots it will take, I am playing on Hard mode, and as you can see I made 7 shots to the left leg. Then I began to spam my Kinesis pull on the leg a few times to test if it was loose yet, before making one more and then successfully pulling the leg right off the body.

The key here is to make several shots and then begin pulling at the leg with Kinesis after every subsequent shot. A quick tap to your trigger will fire one shot at a time making it far easier to judge how much more until you can remove the limb. Another key point is that I am going after the leg, not the arm. The leg is a meatier body part to hit, and so is easier to shoot without missing too many shots in a tense situation. I spent over an hour trying to pull the claw off, and the arm off, but decided to go for the leg instead and got it in one try.

Chapter 4: Mission "Reroute Power from water Purification"
*midway through the chapter*

after rerouting power for the ADS cannons, in which you take an elevator down to level 2 then 3. The next task will take you to Floor 5, so instead of heading down the elevator from the bridge you'll be taking the elevator up to the 5th floor from the bridge.

From there you'll see a mysterious man appear some feet in front of you and run down the hall saying "make us whole" once you fallow that dude past a save point are greated by a nechromorph and the big fat one, you'll pass down a hallway of fans spinning above. The objective will take you right to a room : " Eva Prep room" labeld above the door frame ...

In this room has those suits , simply use your force powers and pull one if the suits legs and throw it as if your tossing the limb. Then boom unlock...

*at least by the time of this post, this may change*

This achievement is a bit of a pain, and can be a little hit-or-miss. The easiest way we’ve found to get it is after obtaining the Force Gun. Wait until you’re one-on-one with a necromorph, and use the Force Gun once, up close, to strip them down to the bare bone. Then, try to use Kinesis on the Necromorph. If nothing happens, shoot at one of its legs with the Plasma Cutter to weaken the limb further, and try Kinesis again. Continue this approach until either a) Kinesis does actually manage to pull off a limb, and the achievement pops, or b) the Necromorph dies, oops!

This can be difficult to get, as it seems to require a limb to be severely weakened, but not yet dismembered, and it’s difficult to find the right balance. That’s why the Force Gun makes this much easier, but not quite bullet proof. It’s doable though - we managed it within just a few minutes of getting the Force Gun, after multiple failed attempts before that.
