How to unlock the Against All Odds achievement in Deadliest Warrior - Definitive Guide

Survival mode is found under the Challenge menu, which is unlocked when you complete Arcade mode once with each warrior, regardless of the difficulty setting. I would recommend completing the warriors' arcades on the Deadliest difficulty, as it will also go towards your Avatar Samurai Helmet award and the "Who's Deadliest Now?" achievement. I'm not entirely sure if this helps or not, but make sure that you change the difficulty setting to normal before attempting Survival mode. You can change the difficulty found in the Options menu and then going to Game Settings.

After spending a few hours and witnessing countless bodies in Survival mode, I found that not much works. It was incredibly difficult to get to 25 kills with any warrior, though the Spartan and the Ninja worked the best. I got 27 kills with the Ninja. Here's how it works:

Rules for Ninja - My number 1 choice for your success.

Rule #1 - Never stop moving. Since the Ninja cannot block projectiles, movement is a necessity. Although the opponents don't throw/shoot many weapons at you, there are some you MUST watch out for. The Pirate is the worst, be super cautious when he appears. The Viking is also throw happy, be careful. And occasionally the Samurai and Apache will fire arrows at you. The other warriors almost never use projectiles, but don't let your guard down.

Rule #2 - AAXY. This is the only combo you want to use on the Ninja's medium range weapon. I recommend using the one with more speed than the other; damage is not necessary in Survival mode. This is because the enemies get progressively weaker with each kill; the first few will require a couple whacks though.

Rule #3 - The technique. When the enemies spawn, and your certain that no projectiles will be coming at you, make your way towards the current opponent and unleash the combo, AAXY, as soon as your close enough. 90% he will not block your attack, because guess what, the Ninja's fast. Repeat as necessary. Eventually two hits will be all it takes to kill. But remember, don't stop moving. As soon as you accumulate 25 kills as your playing, you'll unlock this tasty achievement. It will probably take you a little while to get the correct timing down, but don't give up. You may not realize it, but you will most likely do far worse if you get really frustrated and angry. If this happens to you, it did to me, take a break a try again later when your calm and relaxed.

The rules are similar if you want to try with the Spartan, but I wouldn't recommend it. Use the combo XXX with his sword, and again, the faster one works better. He gets really tired and slow when you reach about 15-18 kills, and you'll probably screw up. You'll also want to make use of his shield when the projectile happy enemies pop up.

I hope this little guide of mine gets you that achievement and saves you lots of time. Let me know if you found this useful. Message me or comment if you need any additional help or tips. We could also play a few rounds if your up to a challenge.

Thanks and good luck.
Kane M.

I did notice that the first pirate I had spawn instantly whipped out the flintlock.

Amazing guide, the ratio should be lower than it is. I made it to 15 my first try after the guide, so hopefully the next run will be 25+ !

I found that using the monk with his X,X,Y (which is frequently a instant kill normally) works really well too, but the stuttering when a new opponent loads does make it very hard to focus. I think that they tend to use their projectiles if your at a certain distance away from where they spawn. So what I did was hang out in the very middle which keep them close enough that they wouldn't use them.

If you want to avoid them throwing projectiles almost completely, it requires you to stop moving right after you kill an enemy. To do it, I killed the first enemy, ran past him to the right side where two training dummies are (kind of behind a bench / table). Sometimes the game spins the camera around and I really preferred it when the angle had me on the top right running down but you can still do it when the other angle pops up. Circle around as soon as you see them spawn and they usually don't even shoot but if they do you can easily dodge it, even the pirate and samurai. Return to that spot and repeat. I think the table there makes them less likely to shoot.

this was great advice as i tried with the spartan because i was always using the knight but he is too slow the spartan is quick and fast at attacking :)

This strategy has a major flaw - the enemies that spawn immediately use their long range weapons due to the Ninja's lack of armour. This means you're always under threat of being instant killed by projectiles. In addition, again due to the lack of armour, the Ninja tends to take more damage for glancing blows. The Viking's y,y,y or Spartan's x,x,x offer similar killing power and speed without those drawbacks. While I'm just starting to work on this achievement I've been able to get 20 kills with both Viking and Spartan and at most 14 with Ninja.

I have to say though the biggest challenge has been the game's stuttering when you face a new opponent (especially one of the same class as yourself) and horrid camera.

JMJimmy,

I have not played this game in a while. I am not sure if they changed it, but back when it first came out enemies that spawned would not "immediately use their long range weapons." But hey, I appreciate you trying to tell me what I did wrong in getting this achievement.

The best way to do this is to use the Spartan with the Xyele and Bronze Curiass (and ensure difficulty is set to normal). All you pretty much do is run directly at your enemies use a simple XXX combo before they can get an attack in of their own, if all of the combo hits it should kill them outright. Just be aware of the Centurion when he has his medium range weapon equipped, be ready to block. The same goes for when a freshly spawned enemy pulls out a ranged weapon, quickly block and run in.

Solution was made by Heart Break Cid on x360a. I helped me get it on first try.

I managed to get 44 kills using this technique so it shouldn't be too hard.
