How to unlock the Top Rank achievement in Deadly Premonition: The Director's Cut - Definitive Guide
You'll need to buy the Dart Gun from Richard before heading over the to darts machine. During the game itself, there's one big rule to keep in mind: No matter what, hold your breath and hit the triples on the highest number in each flashing part. The flashing sections pop up on every 3rd dart. If you do this, it barely matters what else you get. If you hit every triple and the final bullseye for the flashing sections, you'll have well over the 2018 needed for the high score.
Just a general tip, save your breath for when you need to hit those flashing triples. Again, as long as you hit those, you won't need to hit much anything else. Of course, hitting a few high singles or better on the normal turns doesn't hurt, so still try for those, but don't waste breath on them.
If you're really having trouble getting the high score on the darts, use a stabilizer before the round.

This isn't as tricky as you'd believe. Buy the dart gun from Richard then play the darts minigame. Aim with as usual and use to hold your breath and steady your aim. Luckily you only really need to hold your breath when the certain sections flash (every third dart), whatever you hit in a flashing section is multiplied by 5 so aim for the triple and you're laughing!
Don't hold your breath all the time or your pulse will get so high you will be shaking non stop and won't stand a chance. Your final dart should hit the bullseye and get you 500 points so you need to be at least 1518 before then, if you hit the trebles (the thin middle strips) of the highest numbered flashing segments you should get this no problem.
NOTE: You also need to get second and third place on the score board for some Trading Cards, so whilst you're in the groove get them. If you're struggling use a Stabilizer before playing.
