How to unlock the Tuir achievement in Dear Esther: Landmark Edition - Definitive Guide

A huge thanks to bobbyfails for helping me with the locations of the 4 Urns. There is 1 in each chapter. For some reason, only 2 of my game captures were available. So I will include text based guides for the remaining 2 until I can sort this out.

Make sure to watch the ash blow away or it will not count. Thanks DylanXBA

Chapter 1

Chapter 2

Chapter 3
As you progress through the caves, you will enter into a huge cavern with a stream running through it, and a bridge directly in front of you. Cross over this bridge, and instead of turning left to continue the story progression, turn right and head in a straight line and you will see the urn on the floor in front of you a short while down this path.

Chapter 4
After leaving the cave at the beginning, follow the path around to the right and you will soon come across a sandy beach littered with candles. You will also notice wooden lines at equal intervals. If you walk along the beach with the sea to your left, the 3rd partition will have an urn at the back up against the rocks.

If you have any issues regarding my guide (except the lack of video) let me know and I will adjust it.

Thanks again to bobbyfails for the help. This guide would not have been possible without your help.

do you need to discover them during one play-through? or can I jump between chapters and find them in random order?

@p4n0pt1c0n I got them in order. But I am guessing here, as soon as you see the ashes blow away with the wind, that registers as they have been collected.

@Endriux, you're welcome.

I did get the last three first in Developer Commentary Mode, then I played it normally, but the missing Urn, the first one, did not count - I went on getting all four by proceeding with an uninterrupted gaming session, and its corresponding Xbox Achievement's progress did not advance. Then, I enabled Developer Commentary once more, and went to the first Urn - it then did work, finally.

Found the first urn in Chapter 1 following the videos on youtube. Urn refuses to "blow away with the wind" no matter which angle I look at it.

Found each urn but only the ones in chapter 1 and 3 "blew away" chapter 2 and 4 dont do anything no matter where I look at them.

Edit: replayed each chapter and got them both. Don't know what happened the first time.

This is not tracking for me at all. What am I doing wrong? I've watched the ash from all angles, zoomed in, everything. Ash blows away, but still showing 0%...

Nice and easy done within a few hours, the urns were straight forward too no struggle at all and you don't need to get them in one playthrough as it unlocks when you find the forth reguardless of order as long as you remember which ones you have collected

Personally I found the text easier to follow...
Also thought I'd add the cheevo popped for my like 20-30 seconds after the dust blows away, at first I thought I messed up but then *pop*

Achievement popped last night while playing a different game...only 10 days later. The odd thing is, the date on it shows I unlocked it 10 days ago as well...

After C1 urn it showed 0% so I redid chapter and it still said 0%. After doing C2, eventually, it registered seeing it and went up to 50% completion. Seems very glitchy.

Urn 1 is definitely bugged. It didn't track for me the first time. Had to replay the chapter to get it to track.

I experienced a problem with urn 3. For me when I looked directly at it the "ashes" weren't even there for the wind to blow away. Possibly due to accidentally walking over it without noticing it. I exited and restarted the chapter and the ashes were there and blew away as soon as I looked at it. If you don't look at it directly before the ashes blow away then it won't count and you have to reload the chapter.

Quick update, I finally decided to go back and try to get this after it bugged and I recollected them several times to no avail.

I deleted my save data, deleted the game and reinstalled it and started from scratch and it popped. Last resort for anybody who had the same issue as me.

Well I’ve been over them 4 times now. Even deleted my save and reinstalled the game, still nothing. Hoping it pops sometime. Ugh

I’ve collected all 4 Urns several times and my achievement is stuck at 75%, I’m fairly sure it’s Urn no. 2 that hasn’t counted for me.

Does anybody know of a solution? I noticed one comment saying a similar thing and the achievement just popped 10 days later for them whilst playing a different game, so fingers crossed that’ll happen.

Tracking of this achievement behaved very strangely for me. The tracker showed 50% after discovering urn in chapter 1, then it did not move when I collected urns in CH2 and 3, and then went 100% after collecting urn no 4.

I walked right past that and never saw it. The rest I was fairly close. But that one in the cave I walked right over haha. Lack of sleep does funny things to you

This one in Chapter 1 was definitely glitchy for me. First play through was on normal mode and it did not track. 2Nd play through was with director commentary and again it did not track. Loaded up Chapter 1 again on Director Commentary and it did not track. Loaded up Chapter 1 again on normal mode and the achievement popped when I was walking down the beach at the start of the level. I had no problems with the ones in Chapters 2,3, and 4.

There is one urn in each of the chapters.

Chapter One, The Lighthouse: Near the stone circle, to the right of it, just a bit up the hill.

Chapter Two, The Buoy: After visiting the cottage on the top of the hill, you climb down the side of the mountain. At the bottom there is a pile of rocks and some tall grass on the left side. Walk through the grass and turn right towards the water.

Chapter Three, The Caves: When you come to the underground river, walk over the stone bridge and at the end, turn right. The urn is near the end of the cave, next to the wall on your left hand side.

Chapter Four, The Beacon: On the beach, after you have walked the path past the candles and photographs, drop down to where the wooden fences (or whatever) are. The urn is by the mountain side, in the third stall from the back.

To unlock this achievement, you must find four urns in the game, one in each chapter. They are difficult to find as they are usually found near a series of rocks and blend into the environment. To consider an urn found, look at it until the ashes are scattered (you can zoom in to look at it but it is not required).

  1. Chapter 1, ‘The Lighthouse’ - At the end of the chapter, you will come to a Stonehenge-type rock formation. From the center pillar, turn right and walk outside the formation and among the rocks you will find it buried in the sand.
  2. Chapter 2, ‘The Buoy’ - When coming down from the house on top of the big hill (along the narrow cliff with the water on your right), you will come to a set of stone steps. Instead of turning right to walk down them, turn left and walk over the rocks and grass which leads you to another overgrown path that leads to the water’s edge. Among the rocks along this edge is the second urn.
  3. Chapter 3, ‘The Caves’ - After you jump into the well, emerge from the water and follow the path back up to the top. Walk around the well’s edge and into a confined path with glowing mushrooms and walls. You will emerge in a cavern with a stone bridge in front of you. Cross the bridge and instead of turning left to continue on, turn right and walk down the incline. Before you get to the water’s edge, the urn will at the base of the left wall buried in the sand.
  4. Chapter 4, ‘The Beacon’- Near the beginning of the chapter, you will eventually be walking along the water’s edge (to your left). On your right will be areas sectioned off by very short wooden barriers, forming rows. If you look above them, in the center of these rows you will see a glowing candle on the path above. The last urn is in the row to the immediate left of this candle just before you reach the rocks.

Once you have collected all four urns, the achievement will unlock. If you are having any trouble finding any of the urns, refer to the video below.

Thanks to VidGamiacUnlocked for the video:

So there is a single urn per level. I linked here

to a guide that does both the director's commentary and the urns. There are 4 urns with ashes in the game, one per level.
Sometimes trophies may not pop out. I recommend always looking at the urns by zooming in.

Here's a great video guide

You need not only to find the urn, but also to see the moment when the spilled ashes are blown away by a gust of wind.

The trophy is cumulative. If you missed a chapter, you don’t need to go through everything again, just complete the missing ones
