This Trophy is only available during Chapter 5 and beyond, during which you’ll be given the ability to cut the umbilical cord, and relatively soon after you’ll have an opportunity to use it.
The game will prompt you but you’ll simply need to crouch, approach a BT slowly until you’re within range of its umbilical cord and then press Square.
As easy as that, the trophy is yours. And even better, the BT will spawn a crystal cluster for you to pick up.

Towards the end of chapter 5 when you have to meet Mama at her lab to bring her to Lockne she will upgrade your cuff links so you are able to cut BT umbilical cords.
Once you have this upgrade head to an area with BTs (I personally headed to the ruined buildings near the craftsman as it was on the way to Mountain Knot following the roads) Once in a BT area, keep pressing RB to activate your Otradek to spot the BTs, once you have your target, crouch and sneak around the BT so it is not facing you, once you are behind the BT and close enough to the cord a prompt will come up on screen saying press X to cut. Once cut the achievement will unlock.
