How to unlock the I'm an Addict achievement in DeathSpank - Definitive Guide

Near the beginning of the game the Orphan vendor has a series of quests for you. After finishing she will begin to sell you potions. You can only carry 5 at a time so Buy, get hurt, drink, repeat. Start Chugging potions for great justice!

Can they be any mix and match combination of 50 potions? Or do you need to use 50 of one type?

It's a combination of any of the potions. Just drink 50 potions total - healing, armour, speed, stealth, any of them.

You could not waste your money and just play the game. You'll get it eventually.

If you want to do it with health potions, wait until you get the quest for the demon water, pick that up, and it will constantly deplete your health, so you can buy potions and heal up constantly to get this fast.

The achievement details should pretty much clear up what you have to do, but in case it doesn't; you have to drink 50 potions. This can be a combination of Health-type potions and Magic-type potions, just make sure it's in the little bottles. If it's labeled potion, it counts.

Two ways to do this, quickly and as you go.
If you play anything like I do, you will pick this up before you end the game, simply from healing yourself.

The quick way is to keep buying potions from the Ex-Orphan Vendor who is located to the west of Bob the Fisherman and north of Greem Lake. She's along the path right at the end of the bridge after Bob. I believe you have to do a quest for her before she'll start selling potions to you. Finish up what she wants you to do, then buy potions from her. If you need money, just travel south along the path towards Greem Lake. Tons of stuff to kill and loot. Keep repeating until the achievement pops.

Really though, you'll get this going through.

This will probably come over the course of playing. Just make sure to keep drinking potions when you need a health kick quickly or at random if you are just going to complete the 50 needed for the trophy. Potions can be bought, obtained from chests, given after the completion of a side quest or dropped by enemies after you kill them. After your 50th one taken, the trophy will pop.

Since you will get hurt a lot, even on easy, this achievement will come naturally as you progress. Instead of eating any food stuffs to replenish your health, use the health potions (the red bottles) to heal yourself. It doesn't matter what size they are, as long as you drink 50 of them. If you can't find enough through exploring the world, you can buy them at the General Store in Pluckmuckel, which is the first major town you go to. It's to the north of your starting location and you reach it after the Demon Mines.

You won't miss this trophy, just use potions as you progress through the game. There are times when the injection is so painful that a dozen potions are gone in a few minutes.
