How to unlock the Would you like a boost with that? achievement in Defense Grid 2 - Definitive Guide

You first unlock the Boost Tower during level 02.
One of the easiest ways I have found grind these types of achievements (if its for a tower type you don't use) would be to play level 12 on Practice on Easy (I believe you can play any level at any time you want, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.)
Even on Story Mode, you can essentially beat the level with just the 8 tower spots around the core housing, and maybe one tower blocking the quickest route.
I build 3 cannons along the side closest to the ship, a concussion on the single spot near this, a temporal on the spot across the road, and then at least one tesla among the other 3 spots.
When the level is nearing its end (1-2 waves left) just fill as many spaces as possible with the tower you are working on.
I was able to get at least 50 of the tower I was working on on any particular run (and that was on Story Mode - less resources)

You can do something similar on any level when you finish as long as you remember. This is just for if you are solely trying to grind out this achievement.

As with all other achievements in this game, this achievement will not unlock until you finish the level.

I've gotten reports from several players that the achievement counter can get stuck and cause the achievement not to unlock. Don't really know what to say other than just building a few each mission to see if the counter moves at all.

I just completed mission 6 'limited towers' and it gave me my last augmentation needed for my inferno tower so I played mission 6 'frozen tower' and it popped so now I only have 15 more gold medals to 100% the game. I'm excited.

I forgot to mention that I probably put up over 3000 booster towers before the glitchy achievement popped. It wasnt a big deal as I was working towards the 100 gold medals anyway. Of course I would of been upset if the 100 booster achievement did not pop before I completed the 100 gold medals.

I guess I'll add to the solution that it can be glitchy.

Ugh, just noticed my counter stalled at 43% on this one and refuses to move now...

Do you beat the level? They don't add to the count until you finish the level.

my counter also stopped at 71% for a week until tonight it finally popped playing mission 5 'fully loaded' (where all upgrades are unlocked). I checked my achievements in game before playing each mission today to see if the counter only works on certain missions but i did not keep track of the missions that got me up to 71% or 71 of 100 booster towers. i put up about 40 booster towers on each mission this week trying to get this to cheevo to pop

now i only need 20 more gold medals and find my inferno augmentation to complete the game. 65/65 achievements.

Boost towers are available right from the start of the game and are used to build other towers upon. They can be upgraded to boost the damage output or shield/stealth disruptors of the tower that’s built upon them. This trophy is cumulative, so just build 100 of these towers over the course of the game to obtain it.

You will most likely obtain this trophy through natural play, but if you don’t you can get this fast and easy by playing missions in training mode. Build as many boost towers as you can right off the bat and just let the mission run out. You don’t actually have to win the mission for the towers to count. That trophy itself won’t pop until the mission is over.

From the Tower Encyclopedia: The Boost is less of a tower and more of an elevated platform. It is inexpensive to build making it a great blocking tower that can lay out the foundation for your defenses. An additional tower can be built on top of it. Once a tower has been built on a Boost tower, upgrade options will become available providing improvements to damage output, alien stealth and shield deactivation, and bonus evaluation score.

This achievement requires that you build 100 Boost towers across all of your games. Your particular playing style may mean that this unlocks naturally without any particular effort. However, if you don't tend to use Boost towers, or simply want it to unlock more promptly, you can play Chapter 19 in Practice mode on easy and play only Boost towers with Gun towers built on top of them. Boost towers themselves don't do any damage, so unlike the other tower specific achievements you will need to use another tower to actually interact with aliens. You can easily place 100 towers on this map and unlock the achievement at the end of the game, win or lose.
