Defiance Free to Play

This achievement requires you to complete both the Thawandaye pursuits. I recommend you attempt this after getting all the other achievements in this dlc pack.

The first pursuit called "Thorn Liro Master" requires you to get a gold rating on all of the arena's. To unlock the arena's you need to start the dlc story missions and get atleast a silver rating in each to unlock the next one. Each arena requires a different amount of points to earn gold however most require a similar strategy. Here are a few general tips i discovered:

=== The most obvious is that you need to keep your multiplier as high as possible. The highest it can be is at 10x but it disappears very quickly. Firstly you should use the lesser enemies to get your multiplier high and then kill the bigger enemies that give more points. By this i mean you should focus on the skitterlings, scrapper mongrels and mutant cleaver's to quickly get your multiplier up. Secondly you should use a weapon that has a low reload rate in order to shorten the time between kills.

=== You should also make sure about survival. You may only get one self revive per arena and as soon as you die your out. If your about to die then run away rather than concentrate on your score. For most maps you need to get to at least the final round in order to have a chance of gold. Also i seemed to get a 2000 point bonus for surviving until the last round. This ended up being the difference between getting gold and silver especially on the last arena that only requires 6000 points for gold.


The second pursuit called "Thawandaye" requires 3 different actions.

=== Firstly for 2 of the 4 tasks you simply need to beat the dlc and 2 of the unmissable missions within. To do this you simply need at least a silver on every arena.

=== The 3rd task requires you kill 25 golden skitterlings in the arena. As you play through the dlc you will notice these enemies from time to time running around. The first thing to point out is that there isn't a maximum amount per arena, you could get all of your 25 in the same arena on multiple playthroughs. The only way to grind these after finishing the dlc is to learn there patterns, most will follow a certain path in the arena. I did this on the second arena you unlock called "Rizi Liro: Soldier Caste Arena". On the second round i would wait in the centre on the bottom floor and kill enemies as usual. There should be 2 skitterlings that spawn here during this round and they will travel in a circle that goes through the centre of the arena. I also saved my overcharge to kill them faster. You can do this on any arena, this is just an example of how i killed them.

=== Finally you are required to buy 5 items from your Thorn Liro reputation. The store is right next to the arena's. The absolute minimum this will cost you is 750 reputation points for all the titles as you can't buy the same item twice. I found the best way of getting rep points is to play the second arena you unlock as i found this was the easiest and quickest to get a gold rating on. A gold rating will give you 25 rep points. I combined this with getting the golden skitterling kills.

I had max rep, 1000/1000, and purchased a 200 rep pistol, and I was able to purchase it 5 times in a row.

It also cost about 25,000 scrip in the process. Easiest, lowest cost method as of the time of this post.

UPDATE, Jan 2015: Thanks to 'xs Silence sx', "Today, Jan 25th 2015, the cheapest cost of buying five items seems to be exactly 1250 rep and about 23,000 scrip. Price seems to fluctuate, as some folks have indicated that they bought their five items with more than 1000 rep but less than 1250 rep."
