How to unlock the Chasing Shadows achievement in Defiance Free to Play - Definitive Guide

This chevo is very simple.
Is a kind of Hamburger Hill, there are 3 areas initial, ABC, each area is worth 1 point. You do not have 50 points in a single match but it is cumulative.

Right D-PAD -> Matchmaking -> Shadow War

You can capture a point by approaching it and standing in the vicinity, you may need more than one person to capture the point.
I did it this way: I used my vehicle and I kept going back and forth between A -> F. Avoid being in the center of the area on your own. Do not have to do anything else.

The point capture... if its red, start next to it, youll see around the (A) it will have a timer of sorts, once it removes it all it will turn grey.
Keep close, another timer will start with your color (blue) once this fills up you get "Capture +100" or something like that in the middle of your screen.
I have noticed that sometimes it doesnt say anything, but still counts... then other times, you are just a little too far away and doesnt count

This works like most other games, such as capture the point, domination, (think gears of war ring boosting).

I sometimes only get 1-2 caps.. other times 6-7.
To check how many you have.. press Start .. then LT and up diagonal right (GOALS).. then scroll down to ..i believe competitive multiplayer... that look for shadow wars listing.. (about 6 down i think) the first one shows you captures out of 20.. the second one shows you captures out of 50... this is what you want to track. (Think it is call Shadow Profiteering II ) When you have 50 it will pop achievement.

Hope this helps. (Monk .. i believe the first part of this, on how to cap is what ppl are looking for.. guess some have never played this type of game before)

I've only ever gotten into a Shadow War match one time. Not enough people ever queue up for it.

Maybe the negatives are from people like me who came here to find out how to make the actual capture, Gotta say i had no idea what to do to make a capture and came straight here to find out but the info wasn't in the solution. BTW i didn't downvote you as it's not a bad solution, but if the info on how to capture had been in here i would have upvoted it for sure.Just a thought

I would like to find a boost clan if there is one where there are many people that just play this mode to get captures and echelon rep if available. Tried this today got 1 capture and it was the worst 5 minutes I have ever played in 20 years of gaming.

How many people do you need to launch? I feel like this might need to be a Gaming Session now...

More clearly, this achievement requires you to accumulate 50 "captures" in Shadow Wars PvP. The sites you capture ("A", "B", etc. on your HUD) can be lost and re-captured so you can get more than one capture from the same site in the same match. To capture a site, get close to a site that is red (or gray) and you will see it count down to being captured. I recommend running around it or jumping up and down so you aren't an easy target.

As people have noted, players who have played this game for a while have infinitely better weapons and shields so it's practically a turkey shoot (and I was actually killed several times by a player named "Turkey Shoot") and you are the turkey. So my suggestion to make this less frustrating is to watch the state of the capture sites. You can see if they are being lost or re-captured. If your side is losing a capture site, go to the OTHER site. Generally, there aren't enough people on either side to simultaneously hold two sites.

UNOBTAINABLE DUE TO SERVER CLOSURE

Shadow War is a huge PvP game in the PvE world. To win Shadow War, you need to capture the Control Points A, B, C etc. (The amount of Control Points depends on how many people are playing Shadow War). To capture one yourself, you need to stand close to any of the control points and wait long enough for the circle to complete and the screen to mention the capture. The more people, the faster the capture. You don’t have to be the first one at a control point. As long as you’re close by once it’s captured, it will count.

To start a Shadow War, press and go to matchmaking. Select Shadow War. Alternatively, you can press , hold , go to matchmaking and use to open the Shadow War tab. There’s no lobby system; you’ll queue up instead and can keep playing the game. You can also find Shadow Wars marked on your map as a huge purple circle when they’re in progress.

You can check your progress, by pressing , hold and go to Pursuits. Select Season One, Competitive Multiplayer, Shadow War Profiteering II.

This is unlocked by capturing 50 points in Shadow War. Shadow War is PvP within the PvE world and is Capture & Hold. Games initially start with points A, B, and C with more added as more people join (going up to G). Follow the waypoints on the HUD to a capture point and stand near it to capture. To access Shadow War, open the quick menu with and choose Matchmaking. From there, choose Shadow War and wait for the queue to fill.

The trophy is actually simple. I left it for later, but it turns out it’s not that complicated.
I just ride from point to point, I don’t really get into fights. I’m skating back and forth, I scored about 40 in the evening. The worst thing that can happen is glitches, and when you get kicked out of the server (it’s easy to cure, just leave the game and start again, you can play for half an hour without glitches)...

You can see the number of points scored in the challenge: press Start --> hold --> select the "Goals" section --> then the "Pursuits" section --> scroll to the "Competitive Multiplayer" tab --> " Shadow War Profiteering II " challenge.
