How to unlock the Master of War achievement in Defiance Free to Play - Definitive Guide
*Note* The latest patch has killed all chance and even motivation to kill the warmaster. This achievement is almost impossible at the time. A very organised and lucky group of 24 players may can do it, but a normal instance has near 0 chance to pull it off. The biggest issue is the timer being added when the first person gets in the room. You get only a few minutes to get enough players in there before the locks break automatically.
Here is a complete and detailed guide on what to use to take him out. Use a good assault rifle (VBI recommended) when he is hanging before his armor breaks and a Wolfhound with high crit when hanging after his armor breaks. Use a Ground Pounder with + mag mods when he is on the ground during the rest of the fight.

As of DLC 3: The achievement now unlocks for everyone in the room when the Warmaster dies. It is confirmed fixed! Go out there and get that 25G!

I just popped this after many tries. Good news is that the WM seems to be getting dropped easier since ground pounders and surge bolters got their buffs (because they weren't powerful enough before...) in a patch. Logged in today and a few clan members told me they had dropped him quite a few times. I beat him 1st attempt but no achievement, played another few and finally beat him again and it popped. It seems that beating him is becoming more frequent, so with a little luck it will give everyone a better chance to get this.
I have a nice 6.0 crit purple assassin wolfhound that was doing over 8k per shot at one point (with spikes and overcharge), however, if you want a wolfhound to do the job, blue rarities often come with a x1.15 crit bonus roll on them, if you also slap a blue x1.15 crit barrel mod on one of these, you will have a decent 5+ crit wolfhound to do the job without getting ripped off at IDR for an orange that does the same. I would also recommend looking at crit perks like the extra crit whilst crouching.

Such Dicks on the Trion forum's. I've left my comments, but doubt anything will change

The achievement is patched now so everyone gets it.
Some information on numbers
The hardest part is finding a good group. The best players can put up from 2.5-3 million damage. (I've never seen BieberYOLOswag put up less than 2 mill, he's a beast!) Players that are simply competent put up at least a mill. Players that are somewhat good, but really tend to ruin it for everyone put up over 500,000.
People less than 400,000 are really just screwing you. People who put up less than 100,000 don't have there damage numbers turned on and probably aren't extracting.
I've been in groups where we had two people put up 2.5 Million and 2 others who put up at least a million. We had so many people put up 10K - 300K that we still couldn't beat him.
Here's the method.
First join the Freemasons if you're on NA servers. Nearly everyone on this clan is competent. And the clan is *HUGE*. If you go to a major arkbreak and you see plenty of blue, you're in good shape. If you see mostly purple you're probably not gonna stand a chance. (There are some other good clans such as the browncoats and obsidian, so it's not all doom and gloom).
Try to group up with people on your friend's list. The game has horrible server problems, and you will frequently be kicked to the main menu when trying to join the arkbreak. Having a friend you're doing it with will give you (or him if the tables are turned) a chance to join back into the arkbreak if you get kicked to the main menu.
Also, the less-fresh your connection is, the less chance you have of getting it. You can literally get to the point where you're continually getting kicked to the main menu. In that case a reset of your router will help.
When you get in press right on the D-pad to check everyone nearby. Click inspect.
Generally if there level is above 2,500, they are in either Browncoats, Obsidian, or Freemasons, and/or they are using ground pounders, bullrush/wolfhound, or a high DPS weapon such as SMG or Assualt Rifle, they are a helpful player.
If they have a low level, are using a horrible weapon such as a BMG, or a casithan sword... You're in bad shape.
When they open the doors to the bottom, jump down and do the same. It may seem like you are wasting time forcing the other people to kill the volge in the upper area. But here's the thing. The more time you waste, the better chance you have of getting all 20 people. If you have an ideal group, the people you're playing with will *NOT* open the warmaster until you have all 20 people down-below. There *SHOULD* be a good amount of idle time. If you have noobs and they start it up with only 11-12 down there ready to fight, you're pretty much fucked.
Here's an important piece of advice, if theres a ton of people you noticed with a low level, very few 5,000s and/or your 4-5 minutes in and theres virtually no ground-pounder damage AND the warmasters shards hasn't broke. BACK OUT. If you backout of a hopeless match quick enough, you'll be brought back to the main world where you can go back in and find a different group.
In fact, the time which I got the achievement, I had just backed out of a hopeless match and got into a match where there was 15-16 blues and the rest of the purples were high-leveled. Remember to tell your group members to join if you're in a good match!
Here's the ideal set-up.
You have two options, ground pounders to help deal damage to the warmaster directly before the shield breaks, or you can help to break the shield. If you don't have a ground-pounder with really good rolls, you're best off using a high DPS weapon.
High DPS
SMG
LMG
Assault Rifle
Second weapon is one with a high crit damage.
Wolfhound (This is the best)
Bullrush (Somewhat good)
For the perks
You want overcharge, with the ability to do 6 seconds extra time.
Extra crit damage when crouched
Extra crit when blindfiring
Extra crit when he is attacking
Extra crit when you're shields are down.
The game plan is to use your main weapon (High DPS or Groundpound) to hit his right arm. (To your left if you're looking at him head-on) Strafing is important. When he grapples the wall, hit his arm at the top of the screen. (His right) with your High DPS. Make sure to drop your Damage spike, and activate Overcharge.
When his armor breaks, switch to your high crit damage, and strafe around hitting him with it. Don't zoom in when he is on the ground. That's important.
When he's on the wall with the shard broken, crouch, and shoot at him. I like to zoom in because sometimes the hit will miss negating the benefit of the hip-fire crit bonus.
Always extract immedately, never wait to be picked up.
Hopefully you should be putting up 700,000+
This requires you to get lucky to get into a good group. It took me 28 hours and Tower Bridge 16... So it can take a while. You might be better off waiting for a patch to make him easier. (Though there's always the risk they could make him *HARDER*, even if it is less likely.
Good luck!

Thumbs way up from me! "Go To Friend" really saved me from another evening of futility so thanks again for the invite.
I would also add Blast Shield is a great defensive perk to prevent knockback. .

Well, they made him more difficult by including armor plates now, so there goes that.

(I haven't gotten this achievement yet but I'm 99.9999% sure that I know how to beat him.)
The biggest problem with this fight is coordination. People tend to attack him wherever they like and to no avail. If you watch his actions then the key to victory is so blatantly obvious. He has 3 weak spots which are the crystal clusters on his back, left arm and right arm. After he uses up his blue grenades, he retreats to the wall, jumps up and hangs from............ HIS RIGHT ARM. There you go people. It's literally that simple. All you need to do is constantly attack the cluster on his right arm while he's on the ground and when he's hanging from it on the wall. That is the only area that everyone should be attacking. Best of luck trying to find a competent group of people. Hopefully this was helpful and I look forward to your comments, high fives and thumb ups.
Edit: I just got the achievement while playing with a bunch of randoms. I messaged some of them and they said that they didn't get it so it looks like you have to score the final shot. If you don't have people that are doing 1 mil + damage to the boss then you aren't going to beat him. I'll add more stuff as I continue to help others fight him. Best of luck on this absurd achievement.

(Sorry for my English)
I joined a major impact arkfall and went down to the lower level with other friends, was the boss Warmaster and when he died he gave me the chevo. But it was not the first time I did this arkfall majors, so I think that to get the achievement, the final blow must be yours.

I really hope you don't have to be the one to land the kill shot

The Warmaster may be a very difficult boss and 8 times out of 10, you probably will lose but it is NOT "nearly impossible" to kill. First off, I'd highly recommend reading the other solutions above on how to prepare yourself and actually fight the fucking monkey.
So how do you kill the Warmaster?
You spam the chat. Yup, that's right. I have killed the Warmaster (WM) three times now and nearly killed it 3 more times before by just simply spamming the chat. If you have Orange (OJ) weapons or items, offer them along with 500k - 10mil scrip (whatever you want to give away) to whoever has the highest score in a successful Warmaster fight. (Thanks Dallasthedude and Smiththedude for recommending this idea).
So here's what you want to do. Whenever you see a Major Arkfall Impact site on your map (Tiny red dot), travel to the site but don't drop any Ark Spikes unless you need to. Go into Zone / Clan chat and say something like, "There's a WM here. I'm giving away 10 free OJ weapons and 1mil scrip to whoever comes first in a successful fight".
Sure enough, you will catch the interest of some die hard Defiance players and some noobs who think they will get the highest score. Explain to them what you're offering up without actually telling them what weapons or EGO Rating they are. If people start showing up, you're doing good. Randoms may place the spikes down and there's nothing you can do about that. Try to get as many people there as you can, as others want to kill the WM too. Once the spikes are all placed down, a giant structure will fall. Send out the message in Zone chat again (the one you send out about offering weapons and scrip).
Ignore the enemies for now, just focus on getting people there. Once you get inside the structure, you want to go into Team chat and tell everyone what they should be doing. Say the following, "Don't shoot the locks, shoot the right arm only, no Infectors or BMGs, use spikes, extract if you go down, Good luck".
You will probably have some people trying to ruin it for you by shooting the locks, just remind the Team chat not to shoot them. Hopefully you have about 20-30 people and they're ready to kill the Warmaster. Once the Warmaster spawns, give it hell and don't stop until it's dead. Read other solutions on how to deal with it.
If his armor breaks before the 4 minute mark, you are looking good. If it breaks at the 3 minute mark you are not looking so good but there's still a chance. If it breaks at the 2 minute mark, it's highly unlikely you will kill it in time. Don't forget to give the winner their reward.
NOTE: The Freemasons is a great clan to be in and you probably will get a few who are willing to help kill it. And they are mostly always at the top of the scoreboard once the fight is over.

UNOBTAINABLE DUE TO SERVER CLOSURE
This is where the 8/10 difficulty comes in to play. There are some things people need to know on this whole process of beating this beast:
1: You need 4 arkspikes to call in a Major impact event, this can be split up between 4 players.
2: Clear the outside area of enemies.
3: Enter the inside of the Arkfall and clear out the enemies inside.
After it's clear inside do not remove the Vents for as long as possible, you want as many people there as you can get. Not removing the vents gives you more time before a rookie does it and allows more players to enter the Arkfall. Once the vents are removed do not shoot the 4 anchors until there is at least 20-30 players inside the bottom area. Once someone decides there's enough players, you will only have 7 minutes to defeat the Warmaster before he disappears and the event ends.
Patch 1.3 has apparently fixed the issue regarding the Warmaster Trophy so you will no longer need to land the kill shot. You just need to be involved.
