A save is when you block the ball from being scored against your team. I did this in a custom match with 2 controllers. I put my blob in front of the goal and had controller 2 grab the ball(RB). I had player 2 throw the ball (RT) at player 1 and have player 1 grab the ball (RB) and throw it back (RT) to player 2.
If it does not count, you might be too closer. Have player 2 back up a little bit and then try again. You will see a "nice block" award at the top of the screen if you did it right. Just pass the ball back and forth 10 times to unlock the achievement.
