How to unlock the Goodbye, Old Friend achievement in Deliver Us The Moon - Definitive Guide

Chapter 5: Reinhold Outpost

The goal is to take the dead cell(the one you replaced) with you to the surface and destroy it when
.

From the beginning, go about replacing the cells to open the airlock. I won't go through the whole process but you will figure out this simple puzzle. After, getting to the vehicle bay, drop the cell drop to the surface. Now enter the vehicle. Once the vehicle is dropped down, exit and pick up the cell you dropped. Run straight to the MPT tower on the right, drop the cell in front of it and run back to the vehicle. You will have enough O2 to do this. Now proceed to drive to the MPT tower on the left and go through the process of aligning this tower with the one you just came from.

Now comes the fun part. You have 3 minutes to drive over to the next MPT tower, make sure you get the vehicle aligned to open the airlock, pick up and place the cell at the rear of the vehicle and run to the top of the tower while avoiding a couple live electric wires, a few jumps so make sure you are running. Once at the seat align the tower with the Outpost. If done correctly achievement will pop when you gain control of your player.

If you die after you enter the 2nd tower, it resets you inside the tower with a 2 minute timer. Definitely make sure to put the can in the right place before you go in.

FYI, I had issues with this checkpoint, where it stuck me in the door, I'm guessing because I was running in the door path when it saved. So a good idea to let it save before going fully inside.

I have the same issue. How you fix it?

I got stuck in the airlock door as well on my respawn. At least in my situation, if I faced the door, jumped repeatedly while wiggling back and to the right, I was able to get free after a few seconds. Might give that a try before you restart the level...

I died my first time too and spawned inside the airlock. Completed the level but the achievement popped after the cutscene. Didn't have to restart.

I had the same issue; after I died climbing the second tower my respawn point was caught halfway in the inner airlock door. I had to just quit and start the level again - once you know the path you can do the whole thing in 15-20mins

Came here cos i also got stuck in the door. You have to do the whole shit again with that bloody thing? F#$K me this is so annoying!

Edit: It does at least save all your collectable progress so you can skip all that and just get to the buggy

Video Guide:

In the beginning of the level you find a dead battery cell that you take out and put a live cell in. You want to carry the dead cell with you until you can place it behind your parked vehicle. Story events will allow it to be crushed.

I was able to get free by facing the door and trying to jump repeatedly back and slightly to the right.

Here is my 100% Achievement Guide for Deliver us The moon!

So this is a tricky one to explain.
A little bit into Chapter 5 (Reinhold Crater) You are tasked with taking out a dead canister (Or cell, whatever you prefer to call it) and replacing it with a new one (It is right next to you).
You then basically have to take this canister on a journey with you.

So keep going through the chapter as normal (Still scanning items, collecting collectibles, but ALWAYS take your canister with you).
You will soon come up to a console you need to press cn_A on (For the doors to open).
From here, take a right and then down the stairs onto a sort of hangar bay.

Here you will see a hologram and an empty hole, so drop your canister down the hole (About middle of the park i would).

Grab the hologram, then directly behind you is a Moon Rover. Get in.

When you get put down onto the moon, reverse back and pick up the dead canister again, you now have 3 minutes to leg it down to the first tower (The closest one to you, and slightly to your right), Get down there, Drop it and leg it back to the Moon Rover.

Next, drive to the second tower furthest away from you (Towards your left), and complete that.
Now you have 3 minutes to complete the next section.

You start infront your moon rover, get it, and drive as fast as you can to the other tower (The one with the Dead canister by it).. Best advice is to go more towards the right, as you drive it round, that way you can drive it straight onto the pads without the need to reverse and straighten it out.

Once the door is open, grab the dead canister and VERY IMPORTANTLY - PUT THE DEAD CANISTER AT THE VERY REAR OF THE MOON ROVER (In the centre of it)
I'm not sure, but if you put it elsewhere it wont work.

Go and climb up the tower (It is collapsing, so you need to press cn_A to jump over certain objects etc)
Once up the top and align the other tower, a cut scene starts and as long as you put the canister at the centre rear of the moon rover, this will unlock!

Of course, if you prefer to see a visual for this just go to 1:48:40 to see the start of it :)

Hope This Helps!

Right at the beginning of the Reinhold Crater chapter, you’ll need to complete a puzzle where you swap out an old drained power cell for a newer one. Once you make the switch, you’ll need to make sure not to leave the drained power cell behind. Pick it up, and then carry it through the rest of the chapter.

It’s a bit frustrating, as you’ll need to drop the power cell every time you want to interact with anything in the game. There’s also a moment where a door opens below you onto the moon’s surface, and you’ll need to drop the power cell here before you get in your vehicle.

Once on the moon’s surface, you don’t have to carry the power cell the entire time. You’ll just need to have it destroyed when the second tower collapses. To do this, run the power cell to the door of the closest tower, and place it nearby, so it’s not in the way of the pressure pads, and then hightail it back to your buggy before your oxygen runs out.

Then, travel to the first tower that’s marked as an objective, and link it to the tower that you just placed your power cell next to. Drive back to that tower, grab the power cell, and line it up with the back of your vehicle to make sure the falling tower hits it. Sprint up the tower and align it with the main MPT tower before the timer runs out, and watch a cutscene of the tower you’re in collapsing, crushing the buggy and your power cell in the process, unlocking the achievement.

Perhaps the most confusing trophy.
Fifth stage. Reinhold Crater.
At the very beginning there will be an empty energy cell, which you will need to carry with you to the hangar. In the hangar itself, before entering the lunar buggy, throw it down through the open hatch. After getting into the buggy, you will need to get out, grab the cell and run with it to the right MRI tower (there will be enough oxygen for three minutes). Leave there next to the parking space. Then go back to the buggy and continue completing the mission on the level.
When you need to get from the left MRI tower to the right one, then after parking we grab the cell we left earlier and place it behind the buggy. After completing the mission on this tower, the trophy will drop.
