How to unlock the Pull my finger achievement in Descenders - Definitive Guide

ok so i have done a bit of digging and as far as i can tell the whoopee cushion is a extraordinary rarity item to have a chance of unlocking it you need 50k rep in a run for a 20% chance and 250+k for a 100% chance of getting an extraordinary item then you just have to be lucky enough to get the cushion instead of clothing bikes ect. hope this helps.

I've done some research to clarify the rarity of the required item, and this game can fuck right off with such RNG bullshit for a 0g achievement.

There are four categories of cosmetic items: common, uncommon, rare and extraordinary.

You'll get a common item if you end a run with between 1,000 and 5,000 REP. At the 1,000 REP threshold, you'll have a 20% chance of getting one such item. At 2,000 REP, you'll have a 40% chance. At 3,000 REP, you have a 60% chance. At 4,000 REP, you have an 80% chance. And at 5,000 REP, you have a 100% chance of getting a common item.

2k, 4k, 6k, 8k, and 10k REP runs give you a 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, and 100% chance respectively at getting an uncommon item.

10k, 20k, 30k, 40k, and 50k REP runs give you a 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, and 100% chance respectively at getting a rare item.

50k, 100k, 150k, 200k, and 250k+ REP runs get you into the extraordinary item pool with a 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, and 100% chance respectively.

So if you finish a run with 50k-100k rep, you then have a 20% chance to get an extraordinary item.

There appear to be 61 different items in this category: https://descenders.gamepedia.com/Items

Assuming you can consistently get 50k REP runs (and I have no idea how long such a run would take), you have a 1/5 chance at a 1/61 chance for the Whoopee Cushion. I don't think you can get duplicate items so you will get it eventually, but with the worst possible luck it would take until your 305th 50k rep run. As a random number that could be way off, if these runs take 10 minutes, this achievement could take you upwards of 50 hours.

250k rep!? That’s crazy. Do you just have to essentially finish every level throughout a run to get that?

How to use the whoopee cushion? I finally got and equipped it but don't know how to use it... Got it!

Hoping to clarify- the cushion itself is extremely rare or the ability to actually use it is rare? I don't know anything about this game.

Wondering the same as well. But it sounds as if getting the whoopee cushion is the hurdle and once you've got it you just have to use it 200 times?

You use the whoopee cushion by pressing B while riding. Like previously stated, its the act of getting it which is a ballache— A ballache which has been multiplied exponentially since I think they've added new items.

Can someone explain how to use the item once attached to handlebars? B does nothing for me.

On average, it will take 156 runs going for 50k points or 30 runs going for the 250k method. Assuming that a 250k run takes exactly 5 times as long as a 50k run, the 250k runs are ever so slightly more efficient

I got this back in April, and my method is to absolutely do 250K runs to guarantee the acquisition of an 'Extraordinary' item.

If you did 50K runs over and over, you may have a 1-in-5 chance to get an extraordinary item, but at no point will you run out of rare items and start getting extraordinary by default. If you're unlucky enough, you could perhaps never get an Extraordinary item.

It's best to keep trying to do 250K runs and if you mess up and get something less than 250K, you might still get lucky.

As has been said you have about a 1-in-60 chance to get the whoopie cushion at first, but then it becomes 1-in-59, then 1-in-58. I was down to a 1-in-20 chance when I finally got mine.

~

ALSO: "Can someone explain how to use the item once attached to handlebars? B does nothing for me."

In my control scheme, using the handlebar item was clicking in the right stick. But anyone should be able to determine what it is for them by looking in the controls settings in the game.

Thank you for this:

There is not a reference in the control scheme for the use of a handlebar item. I don't know if there was in a previous version.

Has anyone just tried exhausting the loot pool? Do one run and get some points, you don't even have to finish, just stop long enough to have the rep lock in and then bail. Press X to restart quickly, rinse and repeat. Eventually the game will run out of items to give you.

Because the game still accounts for a certain loot pool, even if you exhaust it.

Say you run a 50k sesh, that 20% chance of a legendary drop isn't going to change to 100%. Chances are that you'll just get nothing at the sesh.

I can verify this, I've exhausted the loot pool of every rarity except Legendary/Extraordinary, and half the time when I finish the run, I get sweet bugger all.

In the later tiers of the Grand Tour update, it appears you start getting randomized extraordinaries as mission completion rewards. Liquicity Pro Tour and RageSquid Pro Tour confirmed by jotg05. Whoopie cushion unlocked on the Liquicity Pro Tour Career+ mission for me on the initial claim, which prompted this whole guide.

So completing missions doesn't give you the item until you highlight it and claim it. It'll be a green "Reward Available" or "Reward Claimed". So you'll need to play quite a bit AND be fairly decent at the game to unlock these final two lists, clearing most from #1 - #6, and then working on these missions. MCmichaelD is doing some fantastic solutions for reference:

The Grand Tour for Descenders

1. When you are ready to do this, quit the game entirely from the dashboard to update your cloud save.

2. Relaunch Descenders, and turn in the missions that give an extraordinary.

3. If the rewards from your completed missions in these final two lists is the whoopie cushion, you're done. if not:

4. WITH THE GAME STILL RUNNING, DO NOT QUIT OR YOU WILL UPDATE YOUR CLOUD SAVE

When you click on Manage game in the dashboard (with the game still running), you find your profile save data on the bottom option. Under delete all, click on your name, and it'll give you an option to delete from console, or delete everywhere. Choose delete from console. This will end your game, and when you load in again, you will resync your save from before you turned in any missions. Repeat the above until you get the whoopie cushion.

Here's a list of challenges that reward a legendary that I know of

The Liquicity Pro Tour
So Long, Career+
Place In The Top 10 On Daily Challenge

The RageSquid Pro Tour
Get 1,000,000 Rep
The Golden Run
Become A Descender
What A Legend

Much easier to bank them and try multiple at the same try. There are definitely earlier legendaries as I have 3 legendary items I didn't have before the update

Great find! This method is definitely the way to go.

You can avoid unlocking any achievements in the Title Update by just completing 5 of the 8 missions in each category to unlock the next category. This is pretty easy to do since you have to go out of your way to complete several missions.

The best way I've found to get 50,000k rep in a session, for at least get the 20% chance of getting an item from the same rarity as the whoopee cushion, is to play all the levels on the de desert world at the career+.
I recommend going as fast as possible and do tricks when possible, but be careful and go slower on the maps with a steepness greater than 6 where is very easy to bail.
I've done it a couple times and it takes around 20-25 minutes, if you still don't have 50k and have done all the levels in desert you can get the rest of points at the jungle. When you have 50k rep points you can end session for a 20% chance, or if you want you can keep getting points to increase the chance.
This achievement is very luck dependent, you can get it first try or it can take much longer.
Good luck everyone toast

One thing to note, getting FAKIE Balance as soon as possible doubles/triples the rep you can get from each stage, as going high speed while moving backwards ramps up 7-10k per level without very much effort. You can also farm checkpoints over and over for even more rep.

Fakie i'd recommend people using. 0-3 ideal, 4 steepness is doable, but can be deadly. on a excellent run, i can get clpse to 30k in 1 track in just under 5 mins by going down the track twice

I would also recommend doing this on the Desert. To make this go as efficiently as possible, I would recommend doing at least (ideally more) 10K runs on each level for a few levels and prioritizing levels with high steepness and/or Danger Zones. As an additional tidbit, you get more REP when playing on Last Stand, but this is very risky, and with the amount of times you're bound to crash before reaching 50K, I think it's more efficient to just do regular runs with more lives to spare. The initial odds for the cushion are 1/280 and get slightly better with each extraordinary item you get.

As discussed in the other guides/comments-sections, the ideal way to get the whoopie cushion is to consistently get 250K points in one run, guaranteeing that you win an Extraordinary Item (an EO item) on every run. There are about 60 EO items, and you cannot get doubles of them, so you're drawing from an ever-shrinking pool. Even if it takes you 60 runs, you WILL get the whoopie cushion eventually.

To consistently get 250k in one run, my method was this:

(Warning, it's very grindy, get some podcasts to listen to or something.)

DESERT ONLY (you unlock the desert world via playing the original worlds, more details in other achievement guides! If you're looking up how to do the whoopie cushion stuff, you should probably already know about the desert)

You can do various tricks on the way toward the end of the first course, but you don't have to. Getting points before simply keeps the more grindy part from being too long and therefore boring. You should mix the tricks up, try to do one of each of the things you are confident in pulling off. Don't push too hard, staying alive is more important, all we want to do on the way down the course is build up a x3 combo, but that's not even all that important.

The real important part is this: AT THE END, DO NOT CROSS THE FINISH LINE. Of note is this: You CAN drive into the end zone as long as you don't cross over the actual finish line that exists under the main stone arch at the front of the circle. Once you cross that line from front or from back, the level is over.

Instead of ending the level, turn around and find a medium-to-low steepness slope that doesn't bank to the left or the right. Essentially, we want to be able to ride up the slope and then coast EASILY backwards, without tipping to the left or the right. The idea is to ride backwards gentle into the end zone [but don't touch the finish line]. The end zone is a nice flat area to keep things from getting out of hand, but you could do this trick anywhere.

Also, I recommend switching the camera to first person for this.

Ride up the slope and stop, and then let yourself gently roll backwards downhill. Also, use the rear-view camera option so you have a first person view of your backwards rolling. You will need to learn how to adjust yourself to stay upright.

You will of course need to worry about maybe running into the pillars that surround the 'end zone'.

Doing fakies like this over and over is the safest and easiest way to get a ton of points. The points begin to dwindle as you get more, but you can easily get 10K+ per level. If there are about 20 levels in the randomly generated desert, you only need to get 12.5K per level to have 250K when you're done. you might need to get more per level, with less levels, I can't remember the average number of levels per world.

Don't worry about the arrival of night, it doesn't make it hard to see at all, with the right brightness on your TV. You can spend as long as you like farming points.

Also, be sure to let your points go into the bank every once in a while. You don't want to have 5K in the active streak suddenly get lost if you fall over.

Once you get comfortable with all this, you could also do little hops to keep your x3 combo going between fakies.

And, of course, if you see 'Fakie Balance' as one of the perks at the end of a level that you can choose GET IT. That's the single most important perk for this method!

Easy Method to get 3 extraordinary in 30 Minutes for sure!

THIS SOLUTION IS ONLY FOR PLAYERS WHO HAVE WON ALL OTHER ACHIEVEMENTS IN THIS GAME AND „PULL MY FINGER“ IS THE LAST ONE.

When you like me and had not the luck to get the whoopee cushion as a reward in the Last two Tour missions from the title update: liquicity and RageSquit pro tours (and not use the trick to delete your console safe to get this) or if you can see the desert no more where you try to get 50k rep for a 20% Chance to get a extraordinary item like the whoopee cushion or 250k for a 100% chance,( i played 10 hours in the desert, often bail, sometimes get 50k Never ever 250k and when i get 50k i had no luck because the 20% and the extraordinary item Pool is big) then this Solution could help you to get this!

First let me explain how i Play Games and what happend because of this: i Never wanted to Play this Game, it was not on my List. But i have two sons and the YouTubers they watch played this and since Descenders is in the gamepass they played it to. So one day my 6 years old son unlock one achievement with my Profile (now i have a password lol) . I try to get 100% on every Game i play. - When its not Gears of War 700 hours multiplayer sh**.
So i beat the Game and it was one of my hardest x Box one games! -but i had fun!
So one day , i had finished near by all of the Tour Update dlc all my Progress was gone and i had to Start with the First Tour again. What Happend? I was playing the Game but i had enough for the day so i gave the Controller to my son so he could play. He join in with his Profile and because i am was still in the Game my Progress was gone. Thats a bug in Descenders what happend some Players when they join their Game with another profile.
Now When you have all the other achievements in the Game you can use this negative bug for you!
I deleted my progress for a second Time with another Profile and Go up to liquicity pro Tour again . The Good News is that you probably need just 30 minutes for this maybe less. The challenges in the tours have to Kind of progress: retroactive and none retroactive. Because this was my last achievement i had in every Tour 3 retroactive challenges. You need 5 to unlock the Next Tour. So what you do is put the hard retroactives beside like bikeparks and make 2 Easy one like make a 5 second wheelie or change your clothes. When you reach the liquicity pro Tour you have 3 challenges unlocked yet. I doesnt exactly know which they were but one was „get 250k rep“
So with a Little bit luck you get the whoopee cushion with one of this 3 challenges ( i had it with the first one i opened😁)
When not: make it again, Go with another profile in your Game and go up to liquicity pro Tour. I think this could be the fastest way to get this because evertime the extraordinary pool gets a Little bit smaler and the rate to get the whoopee cushion gets a little bit higher. So Good luck!!

As i wrote this i think all the Time of a way that could make it much faster: i didnt make it that way and when you do it wrong ALL your Progress is gone but it Sounds logic to me.
When you reach liquicity pro Tour DONT Open the 3 green Rewards. First you Go in your console settings and set the x Box offline so the game can not reach the cloud saves. Then you open the 3 rewards. When you have no luck you have to Go out of the Game. (Start button on the Dashboard and then there is an Option to quit the Game when you go to descenders). Now you Go again from the Dashboard with the Start Button on Descenders and Go to the Save options/file. Delete the console save, NOT THE CLOUD SAVE. When you set the x Box Next Time to online your cloud save brings you theorethically to the point before you Open the 3 rewards.
I SAD IT AGAIN, I DIDNT TESTED THIS BUT IT MUST WORK LIKE THIS. I did a Kind of this method in State of decay 2.
or you use the safety method and get the whoopee cushion Maybe 5 hours later.😄

I wish you success!!

Get the "Whoopie Cushion" item, its extraordinary rarity so 50k rep = 20% chance of extraordinary item. Once you get it equip it and use it 200 times. done.

This achievement requires the whoopee cushion item to be obtained by scoring rep in the career modes. Each session has the chance of awarding one item, whether you finish the last world or if you run out of lives. What you get is left mainly to chance, but the more rare items require a certain amount of rep to unlock.
