As you go through the zones there is a chance for a team node to appear. This is represent as a 3 coloured wheel.
When you land on this node you get to choose a sponsor track. Choose your preferred sponsor (I recommend kinetic as it has very little stunts or corners) and make your way safely to the end of this track.

Team nodes are the sponsor tracks located in every world map, indicated by a red/blue/green circle icon. Choose any of the three options and complete the track to unlock this.
