As the description says you need to collect 1000 Bananas in one single run. Now, you'll most likely manage that as part of level progression but if you're having issues and/or want the achievement asap the following things will make banana collection easier -

This will become easier in the later levels that have tons of bananas. There are also levels that require you to get X amount of bananas in order to progress to the next level. These would be good to try these out on. In the later levels once you reach a certain point in the level you'll get to a point where there are nothing but Banana Vacuum power-ups and bananas for a good while which helps out a lot.
Some power-ups that will be good to have unlocked and possibly upgraded are the Banana Vacuum (sucks up all the surrounding bananas) and the Banana Splitter (doubles your bananas).
