How to unlock the In A Flash achievement in Destiny 2 - Definitive Guide

As you progress through the story you will unite the 3 Vanguard members (Zavala, Cayde-6, and Ikora) and they will join all the other vendors at the Farm and will be told to speak to them.

Upon speaking to Cayde-6 you will be tasked with completing a milestone in the EDZ (Earth) to place down patrol beacons. Once the patrol beacons have been placed, you will be tasked with completing 3 patrols (just like in Destiny).

Once you've completed 3 patrols, return to Cayde-6 and you will unlock the milestone for completing public events in the EDZ. After completing 6 of these you'll be told to go speak with Cayde-6. After speaking with him the achievement will pop.

I have completed a lot more than 5 heroic events and it's not unlocking? Anyone else get this? Am I missing something?

EDIT: As of the release of Beyond Light in November 2020, this achievement has been changed to simply require the completion of 5 Heroic Public Events. See guides for this similar achievement:

Destiny 2The People's HeroThe The People's Hero achievement in Destiny 2 worth 45 pointsComplete a Heroic public event.

Up to date solution as of July 2020

You can do the Flashpoint wherever it appears; it's no longer limited to the locations listed in the description. I just popped this achievement by completing a Flashpoint on Mars.

Prerequisites

You must be at the soft power level cap. As of the current Season of Arrivals, this is 1000. This may increase in future seasons. I've seen some reports that once you reach the cap, you still won't be able to see the Flashpoint until the next weekly reset.

You need to complete the introduction quest for the world that currently has the Flashpoint (if that world has an introductory quest). These currently are:
- European Dead Zone (Earth): "Enhance!"
- Titan: "Enemy of My Enemy"
- Nessus: "Exodus Black"
- Io: "Dynasty"
- Mars: "Data Recovery"

There's a quest in the New Light section of the quest menu called "Introduction: Quests" that asks you to complete all of these, so that can help track your progress.

How to complete a Flashpoint

Every week, one world is assigned a Flashpoint. The current Flashpoint is listed on Bungie.net, or you can look at the Director and see which world has a gold challenge medal next to it.

Flashpoint progress appears as a challenge for that world's vendor. The following activities contribute to your progress:

- Lost Sectors: 10%. It appears to be 5% for killing the boss and 5% for opening the chest.
- Public Events: 15%. Note that only regular, clock-initiated public events seem to count. Player-initiated public events that have a permanent map marker don't.
- Heroic Public Events: 25%

After you reach 100%, speak to the vendor for a piece of powerful gear and your achievement. If it doesn't pop immediately (it didn't for me), using the switch profile option and reloading your character should make it pop.

Well stated - exactly how I approached this.

I just popped this 22 July 2020 - I also needed to do the profile switch to trigger it. I'm not certain if this is required, but under the "Truimph" tab - there is a lore challenge for Flashpoint (whereever you did it). Try that if the unlock doesn't go - for me it popped when my ship appeared ready for action.

Since Destiny 2 has gone free to play it looks as if the requirements to unlock Flashpoints has changed.

Originally these would be unlocked by progressing to a certain point in the main story, but as of New Light, you now need to reach 900 light with a character and this will then unlock the weekly challenges.

Flashpoints involve completing various activities (public events, lost sectors, adventures etc) on a target planet which changes weekly. Once enough of these have been completed you can then turn them in to the planet's vendor. To find out which planet is currently "hosting" a flashpoint, visit: https://www.bungie.net/en/Explore/Detail/Event/463010297

How do you know when you have done enough? There's no tracking of sorts. There's no objective. Do you just rock up and do stuff?

I've done a few activities on the current Flashpoint location, IO. Been to the Vendor and nothing? I don't get this game, i really don't. Nothing is clear.

Edit: so i have been informed that there should be a percentage bar when you hover over that locations Vendor. In my case, this hasn't appeared. I presume i may need to make more game progress then?

Ps, getting fecked off with this game🤣

I know what you mean Law Violation. I'm light level 1000 and have done every activity on Io and haven't noticed anything. I wish bungie had a how to unlock... Section. Finding correct information on this game is becoming a chore

under the quest tab. the quests are marked with the main destiny 2 logo matches the one on the cover. you'll see bunch of quests called new light. they have you going to discover different planets and seeing different people. There are several quests matching that logo, one of them deals with gaining light level get to 750 get to 850 get to 950. The one for 950 won't trigger as complete until you get to 999. what is your level at right now?

Current light is 1010.

I've unlocked all destinations.

Only 2 New Light quests available which are to complete the Leviathan raid and another which is to obtain 2 Exotics, can't recall the name of the quests though.

Have you done the red war or any story related quests?

If you guys manage to find out the exact requirements, ill add to the above solution. I still haven't managed to get the achievement myself, as you guys have said there is 0 information out there about how in game things supposedly work. I've tried to scrape info from the bungie forums/reddit but everyone says something different.

Well I had assumed it had to do with the level 950 quest only because that is the one thing my buddy and I had done and it worked for both. I played the red war quest but he didn't. When we finished the 950 it was working the next time we logged in.

I just did it. All I did was public events on Nessus. Firstly I spoke with Failsafe, I accepted one bounty from "it" :D Then I run around Nessus and completed public events. You can see tracker if you hover over Failsafe. Once it was on 100%, notification "Complete flashpoint on Nessus" popped. Then I ran back to Failsafe aaaaaand nothing. What worked for me was to log out (settings - gameplay) and then I was back on Orbit achievement finally popped. P.S.: Light 1005, story complete, in clan......I dont even know if any of these matters

Very odd Fury, i was able to do this on Nessus but not any other destinaton. I could see the Vender with the Flashpoint challenge as clear as day.

I'm pretty sure i've done all quests relating to the red war, im light level 1008 aswell.

You must have to be light 950 because I’m 900 and am not seeing anything about a flashpoint on the current planet.

Now light 1000 and nothing about the flashpoint. Must have to complete the main quest line, need to complete three challenges for the next one.

its honestly so exhausting trying to figure out the prerequisites for this. Try to do the main quests, you know how to see the Challenges, yeah?

The flashpoint changes every week, thats why you only see it on Nessus. I'm not so sure what needs to be done to get them to show up. So it's either broken or There are certain New light quests that need to be done first.

Not sure what changed. I finished up the red war campaign quest yesterday. I also finished the new light quest of getting to 950, which by the way won't count until you hit 999. Then I did some activities, noticed I still hadn't seen anything that said flashpoint. Today I finished a heroic adventure on Mercury called the up and up (or something like that) I failed the objective. I went to brother vance to turn in some of those things you collect to gain engrams from the lighthouse. I now see flashpoint on brother vance and i am 45% of the way done. Not sure which quest unlocked the flshpoint.

This website explains this achievement the best.

https://gamesgds.com/destiny-2-how-to-get-in-a-flash-achieve...

Can confirm this is correct because I am light level 907 and my wife is 1003. This week the flashpoint is on titan. When hovering over sloane in the map menu of the director, I do not see a progress bar for flashpoint events. My wife does see this however, therefore it seems that the minimum light level required for a flashpoint is 1000+

Public Events are random encounters that will spawn from time to time on each planet. They are marked by a blue diamond on your map. You will get a five-minute heads up before one begins, so you can head to the location. Each event begins with a generic objective but has a hidden objective that will transform it into a Heroic event. It will get slightly harder and pays out with slightly better loot. They are all still fairly simple though. Each event and the secret requirements can be found HERE.

Beyond Light update: Flashpoints are now a thing of the past. You have to make Public Events Heroic now. They're all pretty easy to do.  See The People's Hero for more info.

Single Hotspot Missions are weekly challenges that appear immediately after you reach Light Level 900. It is marked with a special icon on the general map, and when you hover over the main character of this planet, a scale will be shown as a percentage until completion. Interest is awarded for closing lost sectors, completing a heroic story quest, or closing public events (events) on this planet. Failing a public event gives 5%, completing the normal version gives 10%, completing the heroic version gives 15%.

As of November 10, 2020, with the release of the “Beyond Light” expansion, the requirements for the trophy have changed. Now you don’t need to complete tasks of one hot spot on different planets as before. You just need to complete 5 open heroic events that take place on virtually every planet. This is where the tips for the trophy become relevant: The People's Hero. Repeat 5 times and in the pocket.

Every week Tue-Fri one of the planets is the hot spot.
We fly to the planet and complete “Heroic Events” x3pcs, “Heroic Adventure” x1pcs. This will be enough, let's go to the planet's vendor and pick up the reward and trophy.
