Bane of the Machines

Kill 25 Vex with precision shots in 1 mission without dying.

How to unlock the Bane of the Machines achievement in Destiny - Definitive Guide

While precision shots for the Fallen and the Hive are normal headshots, precision shots on the Vex are done by aiming at the white light in their chest/torso, not the red light on their "head." You'll know you scored a precision shot kill when the Vex explode with white sparks.

I got 30+ precision shot kills and it didn't pop. I tried logging out, switching my guardian and nothing. Poop

Instead of switching your guardian try switching your profile - Go to log out, choose switch profile, after getting kicked to the start screen choose your profile, select your guardian, and after that once the game loads up you should see it pop.

Here is my video contribution. I do this on Mars level 'A Rising Tide'. The reason for this is that there are infinite enemies at the end with very little challenging bits, in-case you're having difficulty.

Hope this helps!

Also; for those having trouble unlocking glitchy achievement do this:

Press the Menu button RB over to settings, highlight Log Out and choose Switch Profile (not Change Character). This will take you back to the game start screen, and once you press A, it will ask you to choose your Xbox Live profile.

Choose your profile and then choose your character from the character select screen. Any achievements that should have been unlocked will then unlock.

*Cheers to FLEEBS & ludo10109 for the info wink

The easiest way to get this is to go hunting Vex enemies on Venus or Mars during a patrol. It can also be done during a mission as the description states, but if done on patrol, the achievement will pop as soon as you get the 25th kill as opposed to having to finish the mission without dying.

Also, Vex have their critical spot on their chests.

So this may just be me, but if not its worth sharing. Both this achivement and the one for the Hive I got when I died during the missions. I honestly believe that this may be just a weird wording. I think the achievement actually is closer to "Get a streak of 25 precisions kills in one mission" with death ending the streak. So if you die it may not void the chevo, just reset it. Just my experience.

This is perhaps the hardest "Bane" trophy, as you are unable to farm it, but can be grabbed easily on almost any mission on Venus. And still relatively easy.

My personal favorite is the first mission that spawns the Vex, there's large waves of Vex and you can just head shot as many as you want. In addition the mission with all the vex gates are perfect because they will infinitely spawn giving you tons to murder.

All you need to do is "head shot" the Vex, this is slightly different locations in my experience than the other enemies (shoot them in the eye, rather than the highest point) but easy to do with the pulse rifle.

Find the right mission for you, or just play through the game and you'll likely just earn it as you play.

If you're having trouble you can farm kills on the way to missions on Venus, but I found that to be unnecessary for this trophy.

You forgot to write an important thing, to get the yellow precision shot, you have to shot in the stomach's vex area. where there is a white light. Easy to get in the first mission on Venus. smile

The simple answer:

Go on Patrol on Venus. Look for Goblins and Hobgoblins. Shoot them in the white spot on their chest. Kill twenty five total without getting dead.

A precision shot is essentially a critical hit, and in this instance requires a killing blow by shooting the weak area on the chest. If successful the enemy's chest will explode as a blue discharge escapes from their body. Vex enemies are found mainly on Venus. This can be obtained during any story mission, or while doing a Patrol session. Probably best done with a Hunter using its sniper rifle, both for ease of the precision shot itself and for keeping your distance so you won't get killed.

Precision kills on the Cabal require shooting at the white area on their stomachs or in the case of Harpies and Minotaurs, shoot at their eyes. Goblins and Hobgoblins will be the easiest to kill with precision shots. This will unlock during the mission, so you don’t have to go through the whole thing without dying. Scout rifles, hand cannons, and sniper rifles are the best weapons to use.

The following missions are the ones in which the Vex appear. A Stranger’s Call or on patrol will be the best place to do this.

Possible Missions:

Venus:
A Stranger’s Call
Ishtar Collective
The Archive
Eye of a Gate Lord
Mars:
A Rising Tide
The Black Garden
