You need to have:
The "Rise of Iron" DLC for Destiny.
You need to complete the Rise of Iron campaign.
The minimum light level to access is 340.
The recommended light level is 360.
You and 5 other guardians (6 total) can launch up and dive in.
Beat the raid, shut off my Xbox, came back 5 hours later & it randomly popped while I was patrolling Earth
The, Pants, Party
The new raid has a suggested Light level of 370, but is fairly doable if you're only 360-365, assuming you have a good group of people who communicate. If you're going in blind, more Light will help. If you have a sherpa or have watched the raid on Twitch/Youtube, less won't be a huge deal.

Prerequisites: Complete the "Rise of Iron" quest.
Recommended Light Level: 370
This is the Year 3 raid and it won’t be unlocked until you complete the "Rise of Iron" questline. You will need six players for this raid as it is pretty difficult to complete most parts of it with fewer than six players. Visit the Co-op Players Thread (PS4 and PS3) for people to play with. Also visit the Wrath of the Machine walkthrough for help in successfully completing the raid.
Note: You only need to complete the Aksis checkpoint to receive credit for completing the raid.
