I'm guessing that not all of these are done in sequential order. My group beat Oryx (Regicide), but no achievement, so we must have missed one (or more) of these.

I've done this now on 2 characters and have not received the achievement. I've logged out, quit, restarted numerous times and still nothing.

It never showed up for me either... I don't know what I am missing. Only 2 people on my friends list got it.

While it is a glitch, and thus the workaround may not always work for everyone, be sure that you are actually going to "switch profile" and relogin, and then choose the completed character. Simply quitting destiny and rebooting, or simply switching characters will not work. You must go to "switch profile", hit A, it should take a bit longer to load, then select your character. I can confirm this worked for me.

^this should be preferably be done immediately after meeting the requirements. This was an old trick in vanilla Destiny for people that couldn't get "Flawless Raider" to pop upon completion.

I got Taken King way back when it came out (in 2015 I believe) and I don't think I've ever done any of the quests. Same with the new expansion Rise of Iron.

In all honesty, I'd rather get these all done this weekend or next weekend so I don't have to worry about Destiny until Destiny 2 is released (I pre-ordered)

Yes, must speak to Eris, Cayde and Zavala. Then the quest leaves your quest list. This is what should trigger the achievement but is hasn't. I have 1 more character to try but I'd prefer not to risk it.

If you're having trouble having it pop, log out and then relog into your profile. Then start destiny and head to the tower. The achievement glitched on me when I tried to do it, so relog onto your profile.

This is just for completing the first 'act' of TTK. You'll unlock it by completing the story mission 'Regicide' for the first time.

Story related and cannot be missed.

This trophy will unlock after the mission “Regicide”.

This is the final mission of "The Taken King" and is definitely the most difficult. In the first sequence, you must open up the portal to Oryx by killing several waves of Taken and Hive. Run through the portal once it is open and then follow the path until you reach a large room with steps in the middle. This will spawn in a few more Taken. After they are dead, a large door will open to the mini-boss fight. Here you will fire a Taken Colossus and a Taken Ogre (both of whom you saw get taken by Oryx in previous missions). You will fight the Colossus first and then the Ogre will spawn in shortly after. If you don't quickly kill the Colossus (which is pretty difficult until you level up more), then you will have to fight both at the same time. Run, run, run, and run some more. Use the rocks for cover and take shots when you can.

After this, Oryx deems you worthy to face him and will allow you access to his altar. Follow the path to begin the first stage of the Oryx fight. Here, he will teleport around the room a bit and spawn in Taken. He will also take away your charged super abilities. Like with the previous fight, run around and use the rocks for cover, taking shots when you can.

When Oryx is around 25% health, the next phase will begin. He will pull you into another realm. He has three different attacks here. The first is to shoot at you from outside the fog. You can easily dodge or duck behind a pillar to avoid them. The second form of attack is to spawn in Taken Thralls to do his work for him. The final attack is to try and hit you with his sword. When he does a sword attack it is the only time that you can damage him in this phase. Heavy weapons work best for attacking him.
