How to unlock the Consciousness is Over-rated achievement in DEUS EX: HUMAN REVOLUTION - Definitive Guide

Should come with ease if working on a stealth playthrough. Throughout the game just use non-lethal weapons and takedowns.

Non-lethal weapons include, Stun Gun, P.E.P.S., Tranquilizer Rifle, gas mines and gas grenades.

For non-lethal takedowns walk up to an enemy(preferably behind them since they are quite trigger happy) and press B, but DON'T HOLD B. If you hold B you'll kill the target.

To confirm they are knocked out just look at the body and if you see "Zzz" instead of the skull it means they are unconscious.

Repeat 100 times on enemies(no civilians) and it's yours.

An addendum to this would be "No Police Officers" either... because it hasn't unlocked for me yet — even though I'm pretty sure the tally exceeded 100 after almost all of the cops took unscheduled naps on my 'silent' run through the precinct (added to every hostile / enemy in the previous mission and side quests).
[ They kept shooting at me when I was trying to look at their locked doors and computers - serves them right. ;-P ]

I would only assume that cops are counted as civilians since they show as green on the radar unless you piss them off. As are punks even though they've shot at me before when I threw a vending machine at one of them. In my defensive he was talking smack so I had to show him up.

Civilians dont show up on your radar, so I think police should count because they appear on the radar and can become hostile. If you pretty much at least attempt a mostly nonlethal playthrough, and just keep the tranq rifle on you at all times, you'll get it a good couple of hours before the 3rd boss fight.

Punks can also become hostile, but I don't think they count. If they are green on the radar they aren't enemies either though.

I got this near the end of the game with gas grenades and the large groups of crazies.

Since this is the top solution, I will note that this achievement seems to count knock out even AFTER you have reloaded. I received the 50 take downs 2 chapters before recieving the 100 and there weren't even 50 enemies between the two acheivements for me to knock out. However, I did reload on many occasions (for example the landing ambush) where I attempted to keep my passive/foxiest. It could have been a glitch but I did unlock it before I should have)

Great place to farm it is in the Alice Garden Pods in Lower Hengsha. After you meet with Van Bruggen, you have to leave the area in a hurry. On the very north side of the first floor is a vent. Get to that vent and save. There are two guards patrolling. sneak out, knock out one, then dive back into the vent. The other guard will revive the one you knocked out. Rinse and repeat. sometimes it takes longer than it should to revive a guard, so you can jump out, drag the knocked out guard into the path of the awake one. You can also gain a few precious seconds by taking the machine guns when you knock out the guard. the pistol fires slower, so you have a few seconds to dive back into your hidey hole.

Warning contains spoilers!

If your don't already have this through the storyline during the last mission there are a ton of "zombies" easiest way to put them as they are just mindless husks wandering about that will attack you but count as enemies, during the previous mission I recommend stocking up on gas grenades P.E.P's and stun gun ammo and then just go through the mission as you would normally stunning all of the crazy people.

When using the Tranquilizer rifle, head-shots work best on the heavies (Enemies with heavier weaponry/full face helmets), as sometimes a body shot wont register or will take longer then what you want (as most of the time you want to time when they fall). Be careful, if you miss, some enemies will hear the actual tranq dart zoom by/ricochet.

The stun gun has very limited range, best for when low on energy/ or you don't want to expose yourself. Also, not many know this but the stun gun can temporarily disable cameras! Roughly seven to ten seconds.

The P.E.P.S. (rifle?) is a very loud non-lethal weapon, and very stodgy when it comes to hit detection, use carefully.

Lastly, (I say this because I did not know this) gas mines can be created when inserting a gas grenade into a mine template. Works wonders in Hengsha, esp in TYM.

PS, If you knock out an enemy and do not hide/clear the area, other enemies can revive him, of-course if you are lazy/evil just place a gas mine on the body.

On the Panchaea mission after breaking the lockdown, there are tons of crazed workers wandering around. I was quite a ways from having 100 and I bet I got 30-40 from these guys. One thing that makes it easy to get a lot of them is they can't get over any obstacle. On one section, there are probably 25 or more and at the very beginning of the area is a stack of some building material. I would jump over, knock one out and jump back across so they couldn't get me. Then wait for your energy to recharge, punch another, jump to safety, etc.

You should unlock this achievement if you're trying a Pacifist run. But be wary, sometimes a skull can be shown when highlighting a body, but it will still count for the Pacifist achievement if you had the 'Merciful Soul' XP bonus popping.

Update 29-01-2016: Fixed a typo.

Again, remember that to knock your target out, you must only tap  and not hold it. You'll want to do pretty much the same thing as mentioned in the 'Oppurtunist' achievement above.

When you have a chance to take someone down, do so. It shouldn't take too long for you to obtain this achievement but it will come at least two 3rds of the way through. You're bound to miss a fair few enemies on your journey but don't fret as there are plenty about!

Knock out 100 enemies by any non-lethal (takedown, stun gun, gas grenades, tranquilizer rifle) means in a single playthrough to unlock this. If you have not achieved this by the time you arrive on Panchaea, then takedown all the residents who have gone mad as they are considered hostile threats. Credits Wolfwood.

It is not necessary to knock out enemies only , enemies can be knocked out using gas grenades and non-lethal weapons (tranquilizer rifle, stun gun and PEPS).

If you haven’t made it to the last level, then catch two people at a time and knock them out little by little.

In crowded areas, you can climb onto a box and wait until the battery is charged.

I found two guys standing next to each other and turned away from each other, I knock one out, shoot at the floor to attract attention, and go to hide, he goes to cut him down and they return to their places. My energy recovery is leveled up to two levels.

I did all this in Hansch (a city after Detroit). The very first mission in this city, we clear out everyone except two who are standing in front of the metro station, the marker where I am standing is the place where I went to hide, as soon as he picked it up I waited literally a little bit for he turned towards the metro and hit him on the back of the head. Don't forget to save, in case something goes wrong.
